Nintendo E3 Site Opens: E3 Direct one hour long. Teases some games.

it's not a question of spoilering surprises, but if they'll talk about w101 and pikmin and luigi, they'll talk for sure also about fit and party. and if the direct will discuss also 3ds games, considering mario, smash and kart and the summer OS update...do you really think that one hour will be enough to show also X, bayonetta, yoshi, fire emblem and maybe also a couple of new games including retro's new title?
I don't think so...

Easily. You're projecting too much time for each of these things. Watching the last six or seven e3's recently, they rarely spend more than 90 seconds on any game - and that includes stuff like Metroid Prime and Super Mario Galaxy.

I mean, even if you look at E3 2010, where Nintendo lost their minds and announced everything. They spent 30 minutes demoing two games, had 10 minutes devoted to stuff like Wii Party, Just Dance and Mario Sports Mix, had the typical rhetoric and filler while announcing and revealing new hardware - which they went into 10 minutes of detailed description, developer diaries and attached publisher lists for... and still found time to announce everything they did in the other twenty minutes. 2 minute long Donkey Kong trailer here, 90 second Kirby trailer here...

If they show a game every 3 mins(balance it out to some games 2 mins or less some 4 mins plus, even 2 mins is pushing it for some games)
They could technical show "at least" 20 games in 60 mins if they wanted to.

I wouldn't worry about "time" in this direct. This isn't like the Xbox One conference. Nintendo Directs usually flows smoothly, waves of games one after another.

so who else is taking like a week off from work for this loll

I think a more important question is how long did they devote to megaton announcements in previous Nintendo Directs? I think that's going to be a more accurate indicator of how they will handle a tightly controlled [pre-recorded?] conference.

I'd really like to.. Sadly our company have a new laser machine coming with an ETA exactly around E3 time :(

Maybe there will be time for E3 after all, though :D

All my fucking take home exams are due on conference day :T

The only thing I'll really be able to catch will be the Nintendo Direct at 1AM in my timezone (I think)

This is flawless if they do this. Except X2 being aimed for monhun crowd. Thats that shit I dont like.

edit: That video is perfect

Just bought an unopened basic wii u for $175. Under $200 was the price point for me.

Hopefully Nintendo really brings it this E3. I want me some Zelda.

If those silhouettes are an indication of the content in this e3 direct, I may have to withdraw my PTO request for Tuesday at least.

Expectation from ND(only listing Wii U stuff)

Gameplay (trailer/demo):

Mario 3D (demo)
Mario Kart (maybe demo)
X (trailer)
Bayonetta 2 (trailer)
Wind Waker HD (trailer)
Wii Fit U (demo)
Wii U Party (trailer)
Yarn Yoshi Wii U (trailer)
Depending on what more they will show besides these games, expect short trailers on some of these games(30-60 seconds).
Expect the above part to take maybe 20-30 min including bullshit talking :)

The other 30-40 minutes:
Wii Sports U or something else that appeals to everyone (Easy guess)
Metroid U (Please)
Retros game
Suprises
A few 3rd party games.
Maybe 3rd party montage trailer.
Maybe summer line up montage trailer or they will be happy with showing those games (Pikmin 3, TW101, etc.) at the showfloor only.

No Gameplay (teaser trailer/Only screenshots/news):

Super Smash Bros.
SMT x FE
Tiny info on Zelda U (please, though I don´t expect it)
Other stuff

After ND

Yes, there is an after ND too. Showfloor and maybe some info that didn´t make it to the ND. Has happened before. Remember, TW101 was revealed after the conference last year.

Those of you expecting a teaser or info on the new Zelda (not WW) are going to be disappointed. It takes Nintendo five years to develop an SD Zelda, who knows how long they need for an HD one.

Actually most of that time was Miyamoto 'upending the teatable'. Not until Wii Sports Resort, were they were going to implement motion control.

If Naughty Dog can make an Uncharted game in a couple years, I'm pretty sure Nintendo could make a Zelda game in the same time, given a large enough team.

So you are expecting next Zelda not to be released until at least 2016?

I don´t expect any Zelda U info this year, but I do expect it to be released by the end of 2015 latest. I expect some info start of next year and maybe a trailer at e3 2014.

Of course, they used a base engine to create a new game that they developed with Uncharted 1. From scratch, Zelda Wii U will take a bit of time.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if they used a heavily modified Skyward engine for Zelda U.

Well, if you look at ALTTP > OOT > WW > TW > SS, it's always been about five years between releases, Majora's Mask is the only game that took less time to develop because they basically built the game on unused stuff from Ocarina, reused assets, same engine and all.

It'd be great if the next game came out faster but I'm not getting my hopes up, not with the problems they seem to be having with HD development now. Just look at Pikmin and the complete lack of first party releases for the Wii U from launch until this fall.

I dont think HD development is hindering them that much, they just want to take their sweet ass time like always

You've got to remember, they also developed Spirit Tracks/Phantom Hourglass/Link's Crossbow as well.

During the WW/TP they developed Four Swords Adventures.

Twilight was finished one year early really, they delayed because of Wii, and that benefited quality control.

Can't say OoT to WW, it would be MM to Wind Waker really.

Considering all this, there turn out time usually 3-4 years. 2015 I suspect because of HD development.

WW- TP 3 years, but delayed for 4 for Wii

MM-WW 2 1/2-3 years, but considering they provably worked form earlier, 3 years. WW was rushed so this explains short development.

That would be my ideal E3. But won't happen, sadly.

Why not? It seems to be one of the more conservative ideas around. Barely any surprises, just games we know about. I consider that the worst case scenario

Well, he lists surprises, Metroid Wii U and a glimpse on the new Zelda U. Even without other surprises, I would be very happy with Zelda U and Metroid U in Prime style.

Please give me Streets Of Rage Wii U developed by Platinum games.

Also bring back Mystical Ninja.

.....Am I asking too much?

Mah bro this this so much! Or ask the guy who created streets of rage remake to release it on wii U and goemon has been waay to long. make another 3d one the jump between n64 and wii u would be amazing.

So any chance of GTA V being shown or is it totally out of the question as Rockstar really really hates Nintendo? (If they announce GTA V for PS4/Xbone)

We are on the same wavelength! I prefer the 3D mystical Ninja, a Wii U version would be glorious.

Streets of rage should keep that great 80's/early 90's atmosphere and a great soundtrack with the same feel. A streets of rage set in modern day would not feel like streets of rage.

Oh well we can dream...
Sometimes dreams really do come true

What do you think thats going to be? I think its Dead Rising 3

it does fit the bill of something big-ish without being crazy (like call of duty). and it's not like nintendo didn't get an exclusive zombie game or two from capcom before.

the only thing that gives me pause is that microsoft might have snatched it up. it's one of the first games to define the 360, so capcom might be trying to recapture that audience.

i think sony's less likely to have secured the game.

the only reason that schedule is so dragged out is because the Wii released and it fucked everything up, Zelda Twilight Princess delayed for the next console launch and Skyward Sword set aside in exchange for more important products to fit their new expanded audience. before that, it was a year or two after launch. i bet that is the schedule they'll use for their next game because Zelda isn't something that can come in end-of-console launch anymore. they need that game to come out soon and be good.

OMG OMG OMG i agree so much on the Streets of Rage part. What makes SOR is that it really is set in old time frame. Or else it would really be a Final Fight copy. I would love it to be 80's/90's including all the cool raving music. SOR2 is probably my favorite game soundtrack of all time.

Beyond Good & Evil 2. A Bayonetta 2 like deal, developed by Ubi Montpellier and published by Nintendo.

If Nintendo was smart, they secured this, yes. It's been out there for a long time now. At the very least secure a "version" of it lol. It's an IP that fits very well with the perceived "Nintendo audience."

ubisoft doesn't need any help in publishing its games.

no, but making it a goal for the game to actually be released would probably help in its development. ubisoft probably wouldn't toss ancel from project to project as long as he was actually working on a greenlit bge2.

ancel's a fan of nintendo, i think, but i feel like bge2's going to be ps4/one.

it would fit that zelda fanbase so nicely. the gamecube version did the worst when it came to the original. we're talking ten years ago though, so maybe things have changed.

Has it been said/rumored anywhere that Dead Rising 3 is going to be an exclusive though? I remember reading the original synopsis a couple years ago (you were going to play as a car mechanic in a sea-side city?) but unless something else has come up I just assumed it was eventually cancelled.

I agree.
btw if there will be othets bayo-like surprises they will be minor games, as ni-oh or devil's third, that struggles to find the way to the market imho.
otherwise, I can see only Capcom presenting an exclusive game, up to now. just a feeling, btw
