Nintendo E3 Site Opens: E3 Direct one hour long. Teases some games.

I remember being so insanely hyped for Nintendo's E3 2012 conference. Then that blew up in my face. Massively.

For that reason I am going into the E3 Direct with my only expectations being 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Retros game. Hopefully they exceed my already low expectations. I can't handle any more disappointment :(

Are you talking about the one were they showed Yarn Yoshi, Wind Waker HD and X? Or the one were they showed A Link to the Past 2, Yoshi's Island 3, Mario Party 3DS and Bravely Default? Or the one that we knew was going to be only about announced titles but still revealed a new Sonic game?

NDs have been delivering constantly since they made them worldwide, so there's no reason to believe this one won't deliver as well. Especially replacing an E3 press conference.

Edit: And Nintendo's E3 presence has been great since 2006, except for last year's terrible conference.

2006 was the year nintendo had to stop caring as much about the core gamer audience, now that is not the case at all. if they don't care about audiences like us, they're absolutely screwed. they've got no other way to go until at least next year. they know what they need to do, they've got the money and the talent to bring it this e3. not gonna lower my expectations just because a handful of people are eager to spread fear.

I could be wrong, but they have to get people interested in Wii U.

That was before Directs were a thing wasn't it? Anyway 2012 is probably one of the reasons they gave up on public stage presentations for E3.

I'm glad that they switched their e3 setup. They always had too much dumb stuff in their e3 conferences, which was for the mass media, while the gaming media and us fans were bored out of our minds. Now we get our own video, directly from Nintendo. Hyped.

a bit off-topic but they really need to address the demo stations they've got in stores before e3. when I'm finding a cancelled game in a demo station, you're doing it wrong.

hopefully after the e3 experience they take these demo stations more seriously.

it's a completely legitimate tactic and fits nintendo's dirty underhandedness. throw everything out right when the competing consoles hit is something i thought they'd try way back when the console was first announced.

I believe they were too, until they had to blow some of their load during the January Direct. All of those games would have probably been saved for E3 if the WiiU wasn't fucking it up so badly.

Go back to stalking RealGAF, eats :<

Seriously, that EatChildren scenario is some terrifying shit, because it's certainly possible. Well, we were promised at least screens for SSB4, so we probably wouldn't get just a logo. But still. I wouldn't be surprised if MK8 felt a bit samey since they are turning it around on such a short timetable. I also wouldn't be surprised if the new 3D Mario used the GamePad for co-op. I loved Boost Mode in NSMBU, but I really hope they leverage the system's strengths for something unique in single-player. Also, I'd rather they just put all the third-party stuff in a separate Direct. I know third parties are important but I couldn't care less about them on WiiU. For me, the PS3/PS4 and PC are my third-party platforms. WiiU is a Nintendo system, through and through.

Sadly this is still better than last year.

The only reason that even got announced was because Nintendo's e3 conference was so god awful. It got announced during that 3DS conference, irrc, lol
Someone asked Reggie about it and he let it slip, actually.

The 3DS conference was NSMB2, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, which had all been discussed in the main conference. No new announcements.

Man, the 2012 E3 3DS conference.

What was the point of that? Was there anything of note there other than the Fire Emblem slip up?

2006 = Awesome Wii debut
2007 = Prime 3, Brawl, Galaxy, and MK:DS showings, ended with Wii Fit
2008 = Ravvi drums disaster, Wii Music crash and burn
2009 = Awesome DS lineup, Galaxy 2, Metroid:OM (awesome reveal at the time), NSMBWii
2010 = Amazing 3DS reveal, DKCR, Goldeneye, Epic Yarn, Skyward Sword
2011 = Ho-hum Wii U reveal, "unprecedented partnership," 360 footage sizzle reel
2012 = Nintendoland, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, Nintendoland, OMG BATMAN, Nintendoland

In my personal opinion, in the last 7 E3s they've had 2 amazing shows, 2 ok/good/solid shows, and 3 horrible disasters

Thanks, wouldn't have been a Nintendo Direct thread without an imaginary timeline breakdown and some figurative self-flagellation. You managed to have both at once, bravo good sir!

In a few years when we recall Nintendo's E3 keynotes its going to be weird seeing "2013 Nintendo = no show )

Do you guys really think the Direct will have titles that aren't represented in those silhouettes? I have a feeling that's all Nintendo will show.

I can save this.

00:06 - 00:10 : Iwata tweets Kamiya, "What can you tell us about The Wonderful 101." Kamiya tweets back: "Eat shit." A new trailer plays introducing the four remaining heroes, and confirming offline co-op for up to four players. Iwata Asks with Kamiya confirmed for after the broadcast.

00:11 - 00:14 : Super Mario is shown for WiiU. Platforming is split between the TV from one camera angle, and the GamePad from another camera angle, like that minigame in Game & Wario. Also, Chargin' Chuck makes his glorious return.

00:15 - 00:19 : Mario Kart U-Turn is shown. Iwata rips open his shirt and reveals thick, shaggy chest fur carved with the words "Single-Player Vs." He reassures us the terrible people who omitted this feature in MK7 are no longer among the living.

00:20 - 00:30 : The Wind Waker HD is shown. Two all-new dungeons have been added, for Nayru's Pearl and the third Sage. The narrative has been reworked to accommodate them. The dungeons are framed by all-new islands, a new race, and a new sidekick character (like Medli and Makar), and they feature new items, new enemies and new bosses. Still on the topic of Zelda, ALttP2 is also shown, with first footage of the Dark World.

00:31 - 00:35 : The camera zooms in on Iwata, who then proceeds to lick the camera lens. On the topic of tonguing, Yarn Yoshi and Yoshi's Island 3 are discussed, each receiving minute-long trailers.

00:36 - 00:40 : Monolith Soft's X is shown, rebranded as part of the Xenoblade franchise. Also announced: The Xenoblade Chronicles & Baten Kaitos Collection HD.

00:41 - 00:50 : Retro's title is unveiled at long last. It is a brand-new IP, so unspeakably awesome that for three of these nine minutes, Iwata is simply blinking in a dazed stupor that those punk-ass Americans created something so amazing.

00:51 - 01:00 : Super Smash Bros. Blitz is unveiled for WiiU and 3DS. Palutena, Little Mac, Takamaru, Ridley, Bayonetta. BAM.

Do you guys really think the Direct will have titles that aren't represented in those silhouettes? I have a feeling that's all Nintendo will show.

I have a sinking feeling that Mario Kart U, 3D Mario U, Smash Bros. U, and maybe Wii Sports U are all of the unannounced titles that Nintendo will be showing off.

00:01 - 00:05 : Introduction, short coverage of the Wii U so far, and goals for the future.
00:06 - 00:10 : Recap of the NES/Famitsu deal.
00:11 - 00:14 : Overview of New Super Luigi U, again.
00:15 - 00:19 : Super Mario. U. Multiplayer focus. Looks similar to Galaxy, if it were two player. Lots of recycled Galaxy assets. No online.
00:20 - 00:30 : Wii Fit U. Wii Fit U. Wii Fit U.
00:31 - 00:35 : The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD. Nothing but bloom. Textures/geometry a 1:1 port of the GCN build. No tweaks, bug fixes, or new content. Miiverse support.
00:36 - 00:40 : Mario Kart U. Co-developed with Retro. Very similar to Mario Kart 7. Mostly made up of tracks from other Karts. Little new content.
00:41 - 00:50 : Third party offerings. AKA a long winded explanation of Batman. Brief sizzle reel of Watch_Dogs, Batman, Rayman, and Assassin's Creed.
00:51 - 00:56 : Super Smash Bros. U logo shown. More to come at a later date (release date 2017, 3DS version cancelled)
00:57 - 01:00 : "One last thing." First Yarn Yoshi trailer. Release date Q3 2014.

That's the spirit.
