Its good EC did this. His predictions in the January Direct thread were so off ;)

I don't quite understand why people consider stuff like the new 3D Mario "something we already knew about". I could have told you 17 years ago every new Nintendo console would have a 3D Mario and a new Legend of Zelda, but that doesn't mean we know anything about it.

Just bad attempts to deflate hype

I think people who are expecting more than this are going to be disappointed.

I know I haven't been impressed with a Nintendo E3 since...2004? When did they reveal Twilight Princess again?

Pokemon is getting it's own hour and a half Direct, we won't be hearing anything about it here.

My opinion:

*I have faith there will be Resident evil U exclusive & Metal gear 5 & New Final Fantasy Crystal from 3rd party.

*Also nintendo will focus on New IP in the end and it will be F-zero from Retro.

*Metroid Project will be co-op project with Epic team.

*New Team from nintendo for real stick game with new IP.

*New 3rd party support like PES13,RS6,GTAV,DOA5++,Killer dead and so many.

*More remake games like Hitman,Tomb Raider,Crysis3,Rising and so many.

*Nintendo will miss so many games like BF4,NFS,New soul reaver, and so many.

i wouldn't expect anything too terrible, but i don't think we'll see a lot of new things either. i believe that aside from mario, mario kart, smash, and retro, there isn't anything else in the works they can show.

if they show any new games beyond those unseen four, i would bet on one of them being animal crossing, or wii u sports. and retro's game has a good chance at being mario kart.

we know they moved the 3rd part wii u direct they promised in january from april to e3, so they want the wii u to have as much of an impact as possible. part of it leaked with the yakuza/sega partnership. we know they have a decent relationship with tecmo, namco bandai, atlus, and capcom, so there might be one thing from those companies exclusive to the console in the form of a partnership or an exclusive game. beyond that, i wouldn't expect much in the way of megatons. some ps3/wii u crossplats of games that are big-ish in japan, or special editions of things, and that's it.

my guess for the game per company:

tecmo: fatal frame
namco bandai: star fox
atlus: persona 5
capcom: dead rising 3

That's what I'm talking about :lol

a lot of you are acting like a bunch of formerly-abused dogs who are too scared to risk receiving affection from their loving rescuer. if you want to build a bomb shelter, that's your prerogative, but it's either going to be megatons or negatons, and i'm going to stand outside naked, arms outstretched, and absorb the full impact in either case, for this is the way true men and women face life's uncertainties.

HD EAD 3D MARIO. BOOM.

MARIO KART U looks like a multiplayer blast. BOOM.

SMASH BROTHERS U trailer makes you feel like a kid inside. BOOM.

BAYONETTA 2's ass. BOOM.

RETRO does whatever the hell they want and it rocks. BOOM.

ZELDA U mini-teaser. BOOM.

X looks like a system-seller. BOOM.

YARN YOSHI takes the fantastic mechanics of Epic Kirby and makes it into an actual video game. BOOM.

the graphics for all of the above demonstrate that the Wii U is a clear leap over last generation. BOOM BOOM BOOM.

the above is all on the table. it's gonna radioactive in here, i just sense it. i don't call it hype; i call it faith. who's with me?

Fatal frame is near dead :( especially in the West. Pisses me off how they killed one of the best horror games out there. I really don't get why people think having a collaboration project means they have an exclusive for Nintendo. NB whose making smash with Nin just announced Tales of Symphonia HD exclusively for the PS3 (not even multiplat). 0% chance Persona 5 is exclusive to the WiiU, about 5% chance that it will actually come to the WiiU.

This is what I want to see, except do the Zelda reveal at the end and have to be as hype as the Twilight Princess reveal.

Yea I believe smash fans who dont want her should not be looking at her as just any 3rd party character. This might be a stepping stone for her to build herself as a great franchise only on Nintendo consoles.

Any smash fan that's gonna throw a hissy fit if she gets in can just go fornicate themselves with an iron rod.

Holy shit, the Debbie Downers in this thread.
Wait till E3, they probably be looking pretty silly then

Yea Fatal frame has to come to Wii U. Control scheme is just there. And your right again. Another trauma center would be boss

Holy shit, the Debbie Downers in this thread.

The thing I don't get is that with what is announced to show up at E3, it's already guaranteed to be way better than the last two E3s unless you hate Mario, Mario Kart and Smash.

Maybe lack of surprises but those games are only surprises in what they look like and maybe how they play.

Add good chance possibilities like Bayonetta 2 and X and you have one of the better Nintendo showings in ages.

Any surprises is a bonus and I have a feeling there will be one or a few.

I don't take anyone seriously that thinks the showing will focus on Pikmin 3 and Wii U Fit.

They are just being cynical to be cynical.

I think it'll be like that great Direct in recent times, except two times better because they will actual show a lot of those games.

Also fixed some of the "BOOM" with some of my own. xD

I should probably get some sleep, eh? :p

This is the mindset I'm going into E3 with.

For what it's worth, I wasn't trying to be a Debby downer. I was mostly joking. But I do always set my expectations low with Nintendo, because they're a rubbish, inconsistent presenter (like many other companies). A year ago if you told me they'd totally fuck up an E3 console reveal I wouldn't have really believed you, but Nintendo none-the-less proved me wrong.

And it's not really a matter of under hyping myself, so much as not winding myself like an overexcited five year old on Christmas morning. I don't see the point in working myself up over Retro's game, and surprise third party collaborations, and Zelda Wii U, and a bunch of other things in no way confirmed to appear in this Nintendo Direct when I know I'm going to get them eventually. It would be nice, and they could show up, but I find wish fulfilment fantasies both unsatisfying and boring. I can't lie to myself, and the fact of the matter is I don't need to.

Because what I do know I'm getting is already enough to make me happy. I'm seeing Super Mario U, Smash Bros. U, and Mario Kart U for the very first time. Three games I am 99% likely to buy and enjoy for my Wii U, that 1% leftover for that small probability that each game will be an unexpectedly stinking turd. I'm also very like to see more on Wind Waker HD, a game I'm likely to buy, and Bayonetta 2. Bayonetta 2 being one of my most anticipated games on the horizon, full stop. X might even show up. I loved Xenoblade. So there's three more games to excite me, two of which are entirely new.

With the prospect of learning about five big truly new games for me to enjoy on my Wii U, that's enough to make me happy. That's enough for me to go "Cool, I'm going to learn some great things about the Wii U in a few days!". Anything else, whether it be Retro's new game (which I am extremely excited for despite knowing absolutely nothing about, due to Retro's immaculate track record), or a surprise announcement, is a cherry on top. I'm not going into this expecting these things, because I'm humbled and happy with what I'm already getting.

But I also make a mental note that Nintendo isn't the kind of company to ignore other shit they have in the pipes. A ten minute explanation of Wii Fit U really is not out of the question. And given I couldn't give a single shit about Wii Fit U, I am not looking forward to it showing up and chewing up time that could be spent on my precious Mario, Smash, and Bayonetta.
