Hey guys lets have a discussion of which Sony E3 press conference intro did we like the best and which the least, also give a reason/s for your choice
Note: Only the E3 intros may be used no intros from any other pressers like gamescom, ps meetings, etc... (but you may these in a bonus pick for overall fav intro)

MY PICKS

Best: Sony E3 2008 opening

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ-zQsyCEKE

(due to the music picks and overall blend between effects and music Ex. the Old Snake bit... it just felt like Sony reclaiming a gamers focus with this one)

Least: Sony E3 2012 opening

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C5APU19KaA

(since the music was all over the place even though the effects with the screens where pretty cool)

Bonus Mention: Gamescom 2012 intro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUdZ-vTi6vA

(Best for me even though it wasn't from E3... perfect music mix with games and the whole world image gave a sense of Sony's world wide studious)

e3 2009 intro pretty cool too! :P

Mine is definitely the 2009 one. 2008 felt like Sony was putting a focus on games again, I agree. But 2009, despite slow to start, had me thinking "THE KING IS BACK" by the end.

So with E3 hype in the air I watches some clips of old Sony E3 and Gamescom presentations.

Yeah its super clear the PS meeting was handled by SCEE in retrospect. The basic layout is almost identical to there standard gamescom one, they have a lot of the same presenters where as E3 is normally "the jack tretton show" and I guess SCEE is just better at doing intro videos then SCEA because a lot of the gamescom videos are pretty slick.

Really curious if SCEA can top it at E3. They can be a hit or miss.

maybe now that Andrew is now the big honcho at SCE there might be a big Europe influence in SCE I think

do you want to talk about before or after the studio closed.

After. I haven't done any research on where the guys at Studio Liverpool went, but, maybe a new WipEout could show up - but in the hands of another dev, what about Evolution for example?

Found this, i guess it's from that leak. Apparently this is what Studio Liverpool was working on.

PS4 mockup from reddit:

When I first started studying the images from the teaser, one thing I quickly deduced was that the top of the console uses at least 3 materials: A black glossy material, a dark grey matte material, and a light grey glossy material. It also became clear early on that the entire base of the console was made of the dark grey matte material.

At first, I thought the vents (pictured on the front right of my mockup) were located on the back of the system, but after studying the arrangement of the different materials and their surroundings, I was finding it near impossible to deduce what the top of the console would look like with the vents in the back. I discovered that making 3 columns instead of two, and placing the vents in front was the solution that made the most sense. There were no images showing the power/eject buttons, LEDs, or USB ports, so I had to improvise on those, using locations that seemed plausible based on the evidence I had.

Only the "4" is shown in the pictures, but if you look closely, you can see the bottom of the S. Then there was another picture with the PS logo on the same matte material as the 4. It was clear that the PS4 logo, as well as the PS logo were both located in the same section on the top of the console.

The circular fan was difficult to place. One other mockup placed it on the left side, but close examination of the photos made that pretty much impossible, as the left side is the glossy black material. The right side seemed plausible, but placing it on the side would result in a round back, while other photos showed a flat back. Placing it on top allowed it to match the light grey glossy material, touch the edge of the console, but also allow the back of the console to be flat vertically. Some people have suggested that the circular fan is not actually a part of the ps4 console, but an extreme close up of something else, possibly a headset speaker.

There weren't many pictures of what I assumed to be the back, but from the evidence, I could deduce that there was a thin glossy black rim along the edge (this also matched the circular fan image), then the rear of the console was glossy black on top and dark grey matte on bottom. It was fairly easy to match the left side of the console with the image of the small black vents due to the materials used, and the back images being mostly flat vertically. It's also clear that the indent on this side could be useful for ventilation if the console is placed vertically, using the left side as the base.

It really reminds all those close up shots we got on that teaser.

What do you think, GAF? IMO, it looks weird. Not bad, just weird.

It looks like something I would never let in to my home. People need to let that round shape go. It's obvious it's not a part of the console itself.

Why is that obvious? It could be over a fan or something. It's not on the controller or PSEye anyway. Maybe it's for the packed in headset though.

I know that

God. Wish they'd just released a WipeOut on PS4 before dying. Better get Evolution on that

^ This guy gets it.

I only suggested Evolution to be a dev that could do it, they have a great trackrecord with Motorstorm and i'm really optimistic about Driveclub. If Evolution came out and said that they're doing WipEout for PS4 next year i'd be very pleased.

If you look at all the other pictures of the console hardware flashing by in the teaser video, it doesn't fit in with the overall design aesthetic at all.

Someone probably already brought this up, but I really hope they use the streaming feature during the E3 demos for us to watch direct feed gameplay.

That wipeout ps4 image is fake. Real one had a different direction.

it was going to be this wasn't it.....

It's now Monday for me. Only 7 days left. The hype meter is unusually high. Hopefully there will be something leading up to E3 from Sony, like they did a few days before the PlayStation Meeting.
