Clearly you haven't been following Kojima Pro much. Their games almost always end up looking just as good as their gameplay trailers, sometimes better.

Well I wasn't impressed by MGS4 at all. This new engine looks good, but it is clearly designed around next gen hardware.

MGS5 looks current gen. A very smooth and crisp current gen. Probably because its running on a downspecced PC.
I wouldnt be surprised one bit if Kojima makes an appearance at somebodys conference to unveil a next gen verson though.

Aliasing issue not withstanding its lighting is so much better than most current gen games. If you haven't I suggest you look at the GDC conference video (over an hour long) which shows just how flexible and well polished their real time lighting engine looks.

I played Uncharted 2 and MGS4 at the same time though. Uncharted 2 has: better shaders, better lighting, better textures, is locked at 30 FPS, triple buffering, better animations...overall it is a much tighter than MGS4.

I hated the slow downs in MGS4, the frame rate was all over the place and those ugly filters they used argh....

MGS4's framerate was unlocked, you can hit 60fps by facing a wall or looking up, and it can drop below 30fps when there's a shitload of explosions going off. You'd have to be oblivious to framerate changes not to notice it.

Loved the game but it looks really bad especially the environment textures. the fps was all over the place sometimes 50s other times low 20s.

Just played two rounds of StarHawk, not bad at all! Wish Sony hadn't nuked these guys.

Not bad...? Did you play alone? The multiplayer is so terribad i can't even bring myself to play that game anymore. 15 bikestations, 10 auto-turrets and the rest of it is walls walls walls. People can't play or understand the building mechanics of that game and they don't even give a shit that they need to work together as a team. Starhawk could've been a great game, it has some great mechanics - sadly it's the majority of the dudebro players that fuck it all up.
