FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

I'm sitting here with a broken IKEA coffee table and catching feelings right now.

Fuck man! Why am I so invested in this?

I FUCKING LOVED ROBB!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

How dare you treat Table-San like that

Michelle Fairley has really been great during her run, I really adored her

that scene where she's begging for her sons life, you just know she knows what is coming, can't bare it after all she's been through, and yet STILL she is forced to witness it. Fucking brutal

... FUCK!

That was AWESOME! I thought Rob was going to wife one of the girls at the start of the episode and just try to pull an Imp and keep his side girl along with doing his job.

But THIS ... was amazing!

Was this the result of the blood curse?!?!

I daresay it was simply the result of pissing off Walder Frey. Dude wanted his daughter to marry the King. Would you setlle for the King's uncle?

When reading ASOS I had to reread the Red Wedding to make sure that what I read actually happened. I then just stared blankly at the book for a moment and literally chucked it across the room in a rage.

Holy fuck dude you and me both. That is the EXACT thing that I did after I read it (and re-read it) I fucking threw the book across the room and I didn't pick it up again for a week until I finally decided I wanted to finish it.

This thread needs a *NO BOOK READERS* rule, it's the only way.

I was shaking the entire episode... really fantastic.

Yep. The ragged edge to her voice was really perfect. She sounded like she really was at the limit.

Totally forgot about the blood curse. Guess we'll see if anything happens to the greyjos or joffery next week

Great episode. Though part of me wishes I went in fresh. My girlfriend has pretty much given me all the footnotes from the books while she read through all of them.

The reactions make me think of this... lol.

That's just it though. It's like why? How would Harry Potter have been if you killed off Dumbledore first book and then killed Harry, Hermione and Ron in the next books and so by the time you were at the end, it's just Dudleys Durrett against all the Slytherins or Voldemort or something. What's left?

I usually watch episodes 2-3 times after they air to take it all in, but I can't for this. Seeing what happens to Talisa and baby Ned Stark or whatever get stabbed like that, seeing Cat cry for Robb only to see him die and then get her throat slit.

It wouldn't be so bad if you guys came into the thread to discuss the actual show more often, vs letting everyone know you read the book and just want to see how we react to things at the end of episodes and/or guess how the general public is going to like episodes based on our reactions. Had this been the first thread though we would have had about 2 or 3 posters with survey questions about the episode and what our thoughts were, so you guys are improving at least.

I tried to post more during S1/S2 and just try to enjoy the meta discussion (to avoid talking about the plot and stuff just in case) since I didn't like the tagged spoilers thread at the time (discussions on what's wrong in the adaptation, etc.). I stopped posting partway through S2 (and all of S3) since the tone was pretty much a "please no book readers here" and that's worth respecting just so nothing slips up and people get spoiled.

I just read the reactions because I like the nostalgia of when I first read. That said, posting about that being the case was probably just unwise ;__;

I'm not going to stop watching the show, but if you've ever had a thought about nice guys finishing last, this series sure as hell reinforces it.

I'm going to hang on, because Arya is still alive. And as long as she lives, I can pin all of my homes of vengeance on top of her.

God, I've got the shakes. I'm probably too emotionally invested in this series. The shock... I knew it was going to come back to bite him in his ass, but my GOD.

She's such a bitch at this point... Not that I can blame her, but she is hardly what you would consider to be a 'good' character. She isn't going to forget any of this.

I guess Jon really is going to be a pivotal figure.

I knew it was coming and I dreaded it. I started tearing up as soon as the Frey's shut the door and the band began playing "The Rains of Castamere". Michelle Fairley was amazing tonight and played it so perfectly slowly putting everything together.

Okay I've calmed down a bit.

1. Arya is like poison to her family. She was around when Ned died, and then shows up just as her mom and brother die. She needs to keep away from every other Stark less they be killed.

2. FUCK NO I'M NOT CALMED DOWN! FUCK THIS MAN!

Michelle Fairey sold her final scene so damn well. The way she helplessly screamed at Robb in anguish to get out, the almost reflexive way she cut the wife's throat, the strangely silent and extremely still look on her face after Robb was killed, all life pouring out of her figuratively then literally. It just made it all the more brutal.

Because harry potter is about SHOCK AND AWE harry potter. Game of Thrones is NOT about the starks. It's not about the lannisters. It's about westeros and across the sea and all the people in it equally.

God she pulls down his sleeve to reveal the chainmail. The scene was masterfully directed and acted

It's like everyone's a SADIST. That's what makes it hurt so much more. Everyone always has this sick fucking smirk on their faces when they're completely fucking someone over. They all get off on it.

Ugh.

I'm going to need to watch the show again for closure, but god. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach repeatedly.

She captured my attention throughout the entire scene. The look she gave when she heard Rains start and pulled up his sleeve just destroyed me.

Still though, the focus of the first season especially was greatly on the Starks and Lannisters.

Crazy episode. You kind of always had a feeling that Rob wasn't going to win this whole thing. So, in the game of thrones, you win or you die. Another Stark down.

another thing i forgot to mention. having been spoiled before the season began, i have been paying attention to foreshadowing. there were a lot of hints that something like this would happen, almost in every episode this entire season. it could just be my bias looking for hints when they weren't there, but there were many intimations that walder frey is a giant cunt and would not forgive robb under any circumstances. karstark saying robb lost the war when he married talisa, etc. even though i wasn't spoiled about bolton, there were also a ton of hints that he would betray the starks, particularly with his whole thing with releasing jaime. so i don't think it's fair to criticize the show by saying this came out of absolutely nowhere!

and also, i don't understand why people are complaining about all "the heroes" dying. this isn't fucking harry potter good v. evil shit. and besides, there are still plenty of "good" and interesting characters left that we can root for, namely arya, tyrion, bran, gendry, stannis' former (current?) butt buddy, jon snow, sam, daenarys. and even other characters like jaime and varys have shown signs of "goodness" that make me root for them at times. if people have a problem with finding people to root for, they should stick to simpler stories.

yup. It's the core inspiration for the series, the War of the Roses. Anybody who has read about that moment in history will see just how accurately cruel this show is.

interesting. hopefully the show doesn't end the same way, with the lancasters/lannisters on top! unless it is tyrion, i'm okay with that.

also, to anyone who noticed: did the guy that went to take a piss get murdered too? i really like that guy, i hope not. :(

I swear I thought Arya was going to be able to free Grey Wind but even he got it. :/ I was on the edge of my seat the entire time but at that point I was like "just a little more Arya and you can free him!"

Thankfully she didn't make it on time or else I would have been even more angry than I am now. I hate when things like this happen but that's the reason why I love the show. I'm so invested in the characters at this point that when episodes like this happen they hit hard. Hard...

I love this show's take on morbid reality and I welcome the plausible deaths of main characters.

I haven't read the books or anything.

So that was pretty brutal. I'm not all "I HATE THIS SHOW, I HATE GRRM" though. I'm interested in seeing where its going to go.

Who the F cared about Robb Stark anyway?

You knew he wasn't going to win against the Lannisters.
