I honestly can't imagine Littlefinger being distraught over this. He will maybe feel sadness, but only briefly. He doesn't strike me as a man who thinks with his heart or his emotions. He will continue to be calculated and cunning. It's how he's gotten this far to begin with. I can't even imagine what an enraged Littlefinger looks like, because he's just not the type.

Buying shit

I seriously cannot stop thinking about it.

As a fan, this shit is a gut punch and GRRM and everyone involved in the show can eat a bag of wolf dicks. But as a writer, I can't help but respect and envy the ability to so perfectly write characters in a book that it causes such passionate reactions, and then cause the same reactions in an entirely new audience in the TV adaptation years later. Just great work and once I get my wits about me, I'll be rewatching the seasons and taking notes on Robb and Catlyn's character arcs and how it led to this (will do the same with the books when I get a hold of them).

Varys is so underrated. I've always felt he's one of the best characters in GOT. A great personality, a fascinating persona. An almost literally perfect performance by Conleth Hill as far as I'm concerned.

I've said it before but Varys is my favorite combination of character and actor in the show, along with Tywin.

I think Varys will be one of the few remaining at the end. Royal adviser to Queen Sansa.

Varys is basically the polar opposite of the Starks when it comes to political calculations, so I can see him surviving for a decent while.

Having said that, it wouldn't really surprise me if he got his head chopped off next week.

This is ironic coming from a population that expects to be inured from spoilers from a 13-year old piece of media.

lol yeah.

If people care a shit ton about any sort of spoilers for anything, they should probably just avoid the internet to be safe. It's the only way to guarantee it really. I honestly feel like if you frequent the internet and weren't spoiled for this week's episode, then you should count yourself lucky. I would especially avoid all of the social media websites while my favorite shows are still airing.

My friend accidentally spoiled this for me, but he actually fake spoiled me so what he said happened didn't happen at all...

I have conflicting feelings about this...

That was fucking bananas...the silent credits was perfect.

Eh, the way he dealt with Ros was born from a very dark place, and Cat is one of his true weaknesses IMO. I don't think he's gonna go mad and start stabbing people, but I have a feeling he's not going to take it very well, and will perhaps make some moves without thinking them through as thoroughly as he should.

I think it's been demonstrated that Littlefinger is more prone to brash behavior, comparatively, to someone like Varys, who will literally wait decades to enact his revenge.

Though peoples' focus is no doubt elsewhere, I think I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the fight choreography in this series has gotten increasingly badass. The bits at Yunkai in this episode were great.

I strongly disliked that scene, actually, as contradicting the tone of the show. This is supposed to be a show where stories of Barristan the Bold are so much horseshit. 3 warriors aren't supposed to be able to take down a platoon of guards.

Book reader here, but it still affected me so deeply... I can't explain it, I know a lot of people feel cold towards Cat but not me... I feel she's portrayed very realistically in how she treated Jon, I don't judge her for that even if it was wrong. You see it all the time in real life, just not as black and white. The actress who portrays cat though, she reminds me so much of my own mom... it just makes it all the colder. Man, the end of this episode was so well done... and it's so painful.

He has no reason to be upset. He tried to make a move after Ned died. Shot down.
There is however her currently unprotected daughter who probably reminds him of her sitting in kings landing. If anything, he would be happy about it because he has even more chance to have Catlyn through her daughter. Because he's creepy and weird like that.

And for a lighter moment.......Jorah Mormont, forever in the friendzone.

You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half.

Well, a book reader spoiled Robb for me 2 weeks ago, so I was unable to enjoy the episode.

I was really mad, but a few people PMed me and said the mods were coming down on it now, so thanks guys for your hard work. Hopefully the "Do not post here" message kicks in. Also thanks for the kind words from the people who told me to stick around.

The entire episode felt...like hollow anticipation. I knew Robb was going to die eventually, so every scene was like "yeah, but he's going to die." "Yeah, but...he's going to die here." Every line of dialogue felt like a dead man's words because...it was.

I could barely notice the details because I was basically wondering which person was going to be the assassin.

THAT'S why spoilers are bad, because it legitimately wrecks the viewing experience.

Otherwise, some details:

-Jon abandoned Ygritte? No, he thinks he's saving her, because he still thinks Castle Black has a full compliment of 1000 soldiers. He doesn't know the White Walkers and the mutiny reduced them by, what, 75%? Which means he's betrayed her for nothing.

-Osha is now Rickon's mother, for all intents.

-Dragonstone was in the credits despite not being seen. Likely a reminder that Stannis used his Red God's religious magic last episode to attack Robb. I wonder what this means for the other two people he leech-blood-cursed? It was Balon Greyjoy and Joffrey, I believe.

-Legitimately thought Ser Jorah of Friendzone was going to go down, or at least be captured. The sacking of the city was neat...WAY too neat, feels like they cut stuff down for time purposes. Note that Dany's new boyfriend subtly placed himself between Jorah and her multiple times. What's his name again?

Bran should be sitting on the throne. Dude has superpowers that, unlike others, don't turn you into some decrepit shadow of your former self (as far as we know). Can you imagine trying to pull some political trick against a king who can enter your mind?

My room has been eerily quite for the past 2 hours. All i can hear is raindrops outside. Catelyn's voice is still in my head. Robb's last words of "mother" before dying. This episode was really taxing on my emotions.

I try to make myself feel better by saying it's just a show, they aren't really dead, but that doesn't really help. :(

Yup. Honestly, I have never cried over a single movie or show unless it deals with a real person's death, especially veterans, but tonight's episode actually moved me and hurt me more than any single piece of entertainment has done before. I didn't cry, but I felt like I sobbing nonstop in my mind and all I could do was pick my jaw up from the floor and go play a game and listen to music.

That shit sucked. I didn't picture myself wanting Catelyn to slit a young girl's throat, but there I was hoping she could at least do that before she died. Then I realized that it did nothing for me anyway.

To feel emotions like this over a scripted show is just insane to me and now I can't stop refreshing this thread as I avoid trying to sleep since I know I'll just lay there for hours...

Okay, what the hell is John Snow doing? Is he trying to meet back up with the Nightwatch? Surely he knows they will probably try to kill him if he goes back, right?

I don't understand why people think this. I mean Robb's death was the result of a long line of mistakes, and was something that had obviously been plotted and agreed upon between the Freys the Boltons and the Lannisters long in advance, before the leech ritual even took place. I just don't get how you could see this as being the work of the Lord of Light. Renly's was obviously a supernatural death but everything about Robb's death and the slaughter at the Red Wedding suggests otherwise.

I like Varys. His scenes with Littlefinger are always enjoyable. So much hidden meaning in their conversation, together with their body language. Both are excellent actors.

So basically Robb's rebellion is over and the Seven Kingdoms will be united soon under King Joffrey. That's certainly...unexpected. I thought the civil war was gonna go on for much longer. The Starks as a family are also pretty much irrelevant, the heir to Winterfell is going beyond the Wall and they're all too young to do a thing (with Sansa not being a Stark anymore, even). I'd say Tywin will put Bolton as a the Warden of the North and Lord of Winterfell. Rickon will go into hiding, Arya will roam the country and Bran will do some beyond the wall exploring.
It'll be interesting to see Theon's reaction to all this, as he did help to cause this by betraying Robb.

Now really the spotlight is on Stannis as the nearest threat to the Realm. His curse seems to have worked for Robb already, so Joffrey might be next? That would certainly be unexpected but it would keep Cersei as the Queen Regent and thus she'll still be an important player for the show. Danny is too far away to do shit.

I really have no idea where the general direction of the show is heading. But I think now that the rebellion is over the White Walkers and the Dragons are gonna be a bigger focus.

Also gotta love how the show has eased us into the killing of the Starks and ending their rebellion. The Lannisters aren't actually that dislikable at this point. Tywin is badass, Jamies is suddenly symphathetic and Tyrion was always likable. It's only Cersei that's being a bitch (well and Joffrey but he's an odd one out).

Okay, what the hell is John Snow doing? Is he trying to meet back up with the Nightwatch? Surely he knows they will probably try to kill him if he goes back, right?
Why would they kill him if he goes back? He was essentially taken hostage and is now going back to warn them I figure.

Almost as if there's probably some sort of middle ground that can be shared between people who can comprehend basic concepts of plot.

Wasn't the whole point of Tyrion marrying Sansa that he would become Lord of Winterfell? Considering that it's a pile of ashes and most of its citizens are dead, I'm sure Tywin thinks it's perfect for his little son!

Can someone explain what ended up happening in Yunkai after Jorah, Grey Worm, and Daario were surrounded? I felt like they explained that pretty poorly.

Haha the reactions are gold. I was semi spoiled in regards to Rob (didn't know how), so I think I'll grab the books after this season is done and start from the beginning.

Why can't a curse just be a subtle group of machinations? Robb not seeing the danger, getting drunk in wartime, not thinking clearly enough to realize Frey was a total bastard, etc.

To put it another way: suppose we have a story where the "curse" was just a migraine headache. Nothing life threatening. But if you got a splitting headache at a crucial moment, i.e. in a sword fight, you'd slip and make a life-endangering mistake in that brief window.

Now apply that curse logic to a larger pattern of behavior, and yeah, you can see how it COULD be coincidence or it could be poor choices at the wrong time.

From what I understood they convinced the slaves (The soldiers were all slaves) to lay down their weapons and help them take over the city.

Oh god, that's right! So Tyrion is the Lord of Winterfell now! I don't think having a Lanister as their lord is going to go over well with the Northerners.

Almost as if there's probably some sort of middle ground that can be shared between people who can comprehend basic concepts of plot.

I mean, I know it's a ridiculous thing to say, but the best solution to not being spoiled is to just ignore the internet entirely. Good luck with that! ;)

Been fucking seven hours and I'm still not over it. Just rewatched the episode again twice. Fuck, just ruined my Sunday night, probably Monday morning too. My sleep is going to be some fucked up dreams for sure.

Cat's scream as the life leaves Robb is just man, right in the feels.

Can't even think about what Sansa will feel when she finds out. Or Arya when she wakes up with the Hound. At least Jon, Bran and Rickon will be safe from this info for a long time.

I know a lot of you folks are saying buck up and I bet the folks in the other thread are having a heart laugh.

But where do we go from here? I don't care about most of the remaining characters much. I was invested primarily in the Starks. That's how the shoe started it and one by one they've been completely shit on in this world. Either they are crippled in the first episode, beheaded, nearly raped, forced into marriage, forced to run away, and now arrows and dagger to the heart or throat slit.

With the death of Robb, Catelyn, his bannermen, his remaining lords. The war in the North is over. The Lannisters have won. Winterfell is burned. Any hope of vengeance for Ned is all but done. Let's not kid ourselves, Arya isn't going to magically show up at Kings Landing and take out everyone one by one Jaqen style.

Jon has his own shit to worry about. It's like we are forced to now care either about Daenarys or this Wall stuff mainly. After two seasons of near neglect, we're now supposed to care about Bran warging?

All I really have left at this point is Jon and Dany. And now having seen this show, even I don't know if they are safe. Jon has to worry about Tormund and Ygritte, Mutiny Nights Watch, Mance Rayder and the Wildlings and White Walkers and Wights.

Dany has now taken another city, and I'm sure they will add another and another and keep her in Westeros until she gets screwed as well. There's still Dothraki who turned against her, some Warlocks of Qarth sending scorpion/assassins etc.

I don't even know what else to write. What can I speculate? I almost don't even want to watch the show anymore. Why? To see that smug Joffrey laugh with his grandpa? To see Cersei have a good giggle that another family was destroyed to the Rains of Castamere etc.

The Lord of Light works in mysterious ways.

Some of these reactions are hilarious. Robb was alright, but I care way more for Jon & Ygritte. If they get murked I'll be sad, but I sure as hell won't throw a fucking tantrum like FUCK THIS SHOW FUCK YOU GEORGE R.R. MARTIN.

IMO they're doing things right to illicit such strong emotions.

Also, if we're only half-way through Book 3 (out of 7) there will be more characters to become invested in and plenty content left to explore.

But only a handful of people even know that. It's commonly accepted in the realm that they are in fact dead.

But noone knows that, not the Lannisters or the Northerners, so for now, Tyrion is the Lord of Winterfell and the North.
That's a fair point.

I think Tyrion's marriage to Sansa will supersede that in their minds.
It won't really supersede it, when Rickon and Bran do turn up they will have a legal claim to the land.

By the way, I thought you guys would enjoy seeing the historical inspiration for this event, since this is now over here's a short little bit about that in this link. It's based off the legendary "Black Dinner". So, if you're wondering why this shit is so cruel, here's your reference point. Real life.

The above link has NO SPOILERS, except if you haven't seen episode 9.

Skimming back through the thread and saw this. Thanks for the link. That is really interesting. And this is why I loved the Red Wedding scene and Ned's death scene even though my emotional reactions were obviously negative, because they make the show more realistic. Real life can be brutal and it doesn't always favor the "good guys."

Fuck the Lannisters (Tywin, Joffrey and Cersei). Fuck the guy who killed Rob. Fuck the guy torturing Theon.

Hope all of the above get awful deaths.
