Here's a thought. I am excited as anyone to see the latest iterations of Nintendo franchises. But if that's all we get, it will be sad in a way - a signal that Nintendo is retreating to its safe home, and not out exploring the ubdiscovered blue ocean anymore. Nintendo remains as well positioned as anyone to transition the huge audience of mobile and social game fans into traditional console based gaming. I'd like to see them keep trying.

At least we know they are trying with Nintendo web framework and easy convertion of IOS apps but it hasnt bore much fruit yet as we know off. Maybe they cover it in the direct.

Well Namco's big contribution to Mario Kart was the god awful commentator who had no business being there. Smash Bros however benefits greatly from one so I can't see any harm in their involvement with the Smash.
