DriveClub (Evolution Studios/PS4) announcement trailer. [PS3 WHEELS ARE SUPPORTED]

If it looks as good in gameplay as all the screenshots and the PS4 reveal teaser suggest, then Sony would be dumb not to show a live gameplay demo of this in their conference.

Yeah. This game, if it does indeed look as sexy as is indicated by the screenshots, is probably the No.1 system seller for the PS4 in Europe.

They should also make a point of the 'dream team' who are behind the game in the advertising. That's if Sony do advertise it...

Just turn the music off in GT/Forza, then...

I was talking about the trailers/ reveal trailers...

Pretty much impossible to do without muting the video.

What I mean is music is fine, but having just the car sounds is a lot better.

don't be silly! this game could be a real system seller. of course they won't advertise it.

I don't think that it's a scan. It just looks like the same noise filter look that they used with this screen

The screen has got the same garbage filter from photoshop they used on the official site

There better be a full media blowout next week.

There should be. Rushy mentioned that he's already booked his flight for E3, and I don't think that he attended to PS Meeting since he posted his viewing setup on twitter. So it definitely looks like they'll finally be able to show and talk about it freely.

Hopefully Matt Southern will be on stage again :D

Yeah, it is. Look at the lower right part of the screenshot where it's obvious that the paper is a bit wrinkled. They should seriously stop with these compressed-as-hell shots and show some direct-feed ones. Unless they're hiding something...

Let's just hope the actual gameplay looks as good as what they showed at the PS4 event, and that there aren't anymore zombie drivers.

I've got my eye on this game. I'm almost certainly getting a PS4 at launch. And I used to really enjoy racing games - but the arcade style not sim. In recent years the focus has all been on Forza and GT. Ridge Racer is dead and there doesn't seem to another Burnout coming anytime soon.

I'm not a big online MP person, either. But the idea of this game focusing on a good online experience combined with the relatively small number of people who have a PS4 at launch means a limited but cool community could be what DriveClub has in store for the first couple of months. By the time others jump in I'll have some experience and skillz.

And yeah, the graphics - holy shit.

Have you played NFS: Most Wanted (2012)? It's a great open-world, arcade-style racer. Lots of fun.

Not really. It really all depends on how the sound is recorded and then what if any filters you run them through afterwards.

iirc, the sounds in gt 5 have lower bitrates but all the perspectives have an own soundfile while forza has higher bitrates but the sounds in the different perspectives are just some kind of dsp effects.
i think that was mentioned several times in gtplanet.

I am really feelin the non-traditional Time of Day shots in this thread.....especially the moody overcast/wet track

Dat Atmosphere!!!

I haven't but I'll try to check that out. Just haven't been grabbed by a racer for some time. But I don't play many of them either any more so its a self perpetuating cycle.

EDIT - and I did hear Forza Horizon was decent.

Evolution Studios needs to stop ruining their screen shots with grain/noise filters.

Grain/Noise filters are so 1880's technology. We live in a digital word, not a plastic film world. Stop making games look like they were shot on Kodak film.

Most of the cinema in the last 100 years have grain and even HD cams used now have noise at least. It's part of a moving picture, and there is nothing wrong putting some of it (subtly) to add some organic feel to your game, especially if you go for a realistic and ambient look.

hopefully ONLY on photomode. nothing realistic about adding grain while you are driving.

Motion pictures that were shot on Film have grain, understandably. Todays Films have grain only for nostalgia reasons to try and mimic the technology of the last 100 years. Film makers may be stuck in nostalgia mode, but their is no reason video games should be. Human eyeballs don't have a grain/noise filter; so if you are trying to simulate reality (i.e., a human standing and watching cars race), don't use a grain/noise filter. At the very least, give the user the option of disabling it.

I'd kill for a NFS: underground 3. Always thought that was a missed opportunity for publishers, the last one sold well and was a great game, and could definitely make use of IAPs and social features to make htem more money.

Damn I just love everything about this game so far - the way it looks, the concept behind it, the new gameplay ideals it's implementing into the racing genre... I really really can't wait to get my hands on this. To me so far it's the PS4's killer app

Ground textures look low res enough to be real time. Even taking depth of field into effect.

Edit: If this plays like PGR, it'll be my first purchase for the system.

Why would any texture on PS4 look low rez. Surely it has 16 times the memory of PS3. We shouldn't be seeing any low rez textures ever.
