Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

I have no clue what I'm doing in Toro's Friend Network, but I think Grimmy just became my first friend.

Scary.

Edit: Top of the page, preorder Muramasa Rebirth and Dragon's Crown. Summer of Vanillaware! :D

Hey Vita-GAF, how did Need for Speed: Most Wanted end up? Good port? Looks good/controls good? The Digital Foundry comparison seems pretty positive.

Is it worth picking up in place of the console version? I'm interested in picking up the game now that it's cheaper and i'd rather get it on Vita, but if the 360 version is way better in some way i'll just get it there.

I rarely use my Twitter account but if anyone wants to follow me for Toro's Friend Network, I'll follow you back.

notice that when he replayed he didn't confirm that it's for PS4 but just said in development.

He's confirmed as a leaker before? The name sounds familiar... Demon's Souls 2 on Vita would make me LOSE MY MIND DUDE. I would never get work done again - I'd probably get caught playing it on the job and get fired. Demon's Souls 2 on Vita would get me fired. Hell, my wife would probably leave me because I'd be so into it.

It's running pretty low sub native resolution but it's a trade off so they can make the game nearly identical and it looks quite good despite that because of the scene complexity (edit: and 4x anti aliasing). The one major downside is it can be a bit difficult compared to the console versions to see some turns the first time you do a race but it doesn't hinder the game much. When the game first came out people were complaining about lesser traffic but that's actually a good thing in my opinion. I hate t-boning traffic that comes out of nowhere while I'm first place in a race (and the Vita version has plenty of that)

Yeah, Verendus is very legit (got AssCreed Black Flag leak and other stuff)

Greetings Vita-Gaf!

Recently I decided to treat myself and I got me a Vita and I simply love it; all the talk about *dat oled* lived up to the hype and I really like the look and ergonomics of the system, reminds of when I first got the PSP.

Also got PS+ which already gave a nice collection of games to play on my ridiculously priced 32gb card, the only negative of my vita experience so far. The store prices on the retail games are a bit high as well but I am not looking to go all digital yet.

Care to help me with some PSN recommendations? I am buying JSR and I am looking into these other games too:

Sound Shapes, played the demo 3 times so I guerss I liked it, just worried about its length, worth the 15 bucks?

Escape Plan, while gimmicky I liked the demo but I am always cautious of games that have DLC on t the same amount of the main game

Dokuro, no demo on the store but I really liked the visual style and like puzzle games

If you have other PSN recommendations on the puzzle/adventure/platformer genres let me know.

Oh, and add me on PSN. I would love to have some fellow gaffers on there I am RemkNG

Regarding Need For Speed...

I'm really enjoying it at the moment - it feels fast and it lends itself to the "pickup and play" nature of the vita.

Totally agree that it's hard at first due to the small screen but about an hour or so in I felt like I'd been patched into the matrix! It all made sense.

Why? Because the developers get more money for the Dlcs? Serious question.

I believe Sony works out how much money the Devs get based on estimated amount of downloads from PS+. They already got all the money from the game being on PS+ up front, so by downloading the game from PS+ nets them no more money.

Buying the DLC will net them however much they normally get from DLC instead of buying a reduced priced full game where they get a reduced amount.

I may have confused myself along the way, but I am 99% sure that is how it works out. I have no idea how much they actually get when you buy the game for 14.99. I assume Sony's fees on DLC are much less than fees on full games.

I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of soundshapes.

One thing the vita is doing is changing the way I "game". I dip into soundshapes for half an hour, then play some Thomas was alone, then dip into urban trials... I'm hopping all over the place - I might finish a game soon :)

I would literally scream out loud if they came out at E3 and were like ....

"Demon's Souls 2 on Vita"

*drops mic, walks off stage*

*audience explodes into cheers and screams*

*then Yoshida hold the mic from the floor*

"Sorry guys..did I said Vita?lolz my mistake it's for PS3"

*Shu kick PS4 and do DDT on Vita*

F* this Toro App. I thought it would be a fun thing to do with your friends ala Find Mii. Its just a stupid F2P app that is stingier than a Gameloft iOS game. I need to pay real $$$ to do anything. Please. Gtfo my memory card.

I would prefer xcom over borderlands but I could deal with it, but I want a spinoff, not a port. Demons souls would be awesome. Anyway they have to be quality products, not bad made ports or rushed new games.

I'd play xcom and boarderland a on vita... Xcom would play well on the system and boarderlands is a perfect pick up and play title too - get your grind on.

Quell Momento is a really good puzzle game. It's both relaxing and challenging. I didn't want to spend five bucks on it when it's three on iOS, but I'm happy I got it.

I see this Toro App getting some good updates in the future though. Like Treasures of Montezuma. Has anybody been able to go to the dungeon yet? I have to wait for two other people for 23 more hours.

I'm here to tell you you are now my slave. I've been giving you tasks in the Toro App for the last 45 minutes.

Borderlands would be cool. X-Com I'm indifferent not only because I've already finished it but also because it would work perfectly fine on an iPad. I want Walking Dead on the Vita though so don't ask me the logic

Haha, I haven't booted it up again past the first five or so minutes. I had no idea what was even happening.

That's a game that really benefits from the "big screen" experience in my opinion (and I don't often subscribe to that narrow outlook).

Wonder what the release date is. That was announced back in March and then nary a peep.

I had no idea what was even happening.
That's a running theme across way too many Vita apps. This is one area where Sony could take a page from Nintendo's playbook of simple accessibility.

Any Gaffers want to add me on the Toro app?

I think if we follow each other on Twitter we can add each other directly instead of adding randoms on PSN.

Dig the idea of networking it through Twitter.

Now I just need to wait for it to release in EU/Aus and I'm totally on board.

Yeah everyone is at 23 hours for me as well. Well, except for Grimmy, cause I used that sample item that resets the timer on him while fiddling around with the menu. =P

THIS.

I thought it was funny when the rabbit thing was explaining something and Toro said "Oh seems easy enough" and the rabbit goes "I'M not done, this is actually pretty complicated let me tell you about the other stuff..."

[true story]As I was watching you do my slave labor I was like, where's Cecil? I haven't seen him with his sweet-ass avatar for a while.[/true story]

Quick Toro Friend Dungeon FAQ:
1) Make Friends. Not sure if you can just directly add PSN friends and have them pop-up in game, but you can also find friends via Twitter/Facebook syncing, or random people that show up in the lobby. Up to 10 invites per day allowed in the Lobby.
2) Accepted Friends or Pending Invite Friends will show up in your garden afterwards and float around. Accepted Friends can be assigned 'Work' at corners of the screen. You get a few options for faster completion times based on Job or Level of the person you're assigning the work to. After it's completed you gain MP and EXP. You can also 'Hustle' by interacting with a person who's sent you to work, which cuts the time it takes for it to complete for them.
3) MP (or real money) can be spent on Cards or Outfits in the Equipment store. Cards are your stat info people see when they examine you as well as your ATK (weapon) in the Dungeon. Outfits show up on your avatar and are your DEF (armor) in the Dungeon. Each has individual stats varying based on price. Silver-Background Items are bought with MP, Gold-Background Items must be bought with Coins (purchased for roughly $5=1000C). Not everything is shown on the front page, use the filters on the bottom of the screen.
4) Stat-Gains. You gain +1 Maximum HP for various acts such as patting someone on the head (when you read a tweet), getting pat on the head (they read your tweet), Hustling, etc, up to 20 Max HP per day. You also gain a permanent ATK/DEF boost every time you buy an Outfit or Card, +1 each time (I believe).
5) Dungeons involve bringing two friends to fight enemies, although I have to wait until tomorrow to try it. Each friend needs a 24 hour break every time you bring them down, and you can unlock new outfits/cards by progressing through them.
*) You can actually make your in-game avatar your Facebook or Twitter avatar rather than being limited to your PSN selection!

*then Yoshida hold the mic from the floor*

"Sorry guys..did I said Vita?lolz my mistake it's for PS3"

*Shu kick PS4 and do DDT on Vita*

That would make so little sense as a fan, although it would make total sense from a business standpoint as the PS3 has a pretty big install base now. If it was PS3/PSV I'd die a happy man.

My 32GB card is full :( I dunno what to do. I wanted to get the Toro app and join you guys in on the fun but I got the paint park plus app. ARGHRHGR!

The store doesn't let me use MP for anything I need except Coins, which can only be purchased with real money.

And why is there an albino robot in my garden just staring at Oshimai....

interactive comic/show

there is absolutely no game play or real puzzles for that thing to be a "game".

mainline games/sequels, no spinoffs.

Handhelds can handle mainline entries (see DS/3DS)

Added an extra note! Filter to what you're looking for and browse the Silver-bordered items.

Very true. I'll take spinoffs but mainline games on portables are pretty awesome.

Why do you think this? I've held back on playing the walking dead on ps3 and ios because I wanted to take it on the go with me. I'm a fly-in fly-out worker so I'm always on a plane so preserving cross-console releases for the vita is very important to me...

Should I just bite the bullet and play it at home?

I guess that question should be extended to people who've played it on console AND on ios...

Here's my Twitter/Facebook if anybody wants to add me in Toro's Friend Dungeon via Lobby. Level 16 Brainiac atm.

FYI: Artists are much needed and underpicked, so if you're on the fence, pick that one. Any artist that adds me will be worked constantly.

is the 100,000 MP friend card panties?

Following both of you on Twitter now. Will add you to Toro.

www.twitter.com/notmarrec is mine, if anyone would like to follow me.

Oh damn, look like my Vita touch screen is fucked. It is no longer reacting properly to my touch and is acting really funny. Delayed swipes and sometimes I can't even press the bubbles or icons properly to start them. This is really depressing as it's one of my most played systems right now for JRPGs on PS1 and PSP.

Its doing the same thing for me but only in the Toro app. So if that's what you're worried about, I wouldn't be.
