So we know Nintendo has partnered with Namco Bandai (Smash 4), SEGA (Sonic publishing), Atlus (SMT x FE) and Platinum (W101, Bayo2). Who else do you think they are/hope they are partnering with for some upcoming titles?

I'm kind of hoping that they team up with Capcom on something Mega Man related. It'd be nice to see a new Mega Man title on the Wii U in some capacity, or possibly see Nintendo help resurrect Mega Man Legends 3 on the Wii U.

I'd be awesome if Nintendo managed to work with a western dev team on a Wii U title too. A safe bet would be Next Level Games. They've proven themselves worthy with Mario Strikers Charged, Punch-Out!!. and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. It'd be nice if they were working on something they haven't already done, perhaps letting them work on a new Star Fox title or a different Mario sports title.

It'd kind of be a nice surprise to see something like that show up in the ND; though I think if we do get an announcement similar to that, it'd be the Retro title.

Speaking of SUPER SMASH BROS. BLITZ, here's the roster:

EjhFutw.png

89 slots, plus Random, spanning 102 characters!

NOTE: The unseen characters are Wolf Link & Midna (part of Link); Ganon (part of Ganondorf); Deku Link, Goron Link, and Zora Link (part of Masks Link); Awakened Mewtwo (part of Mewtwo); and Defense, Neutral, Attack, and Speed Deoxys (part of Deoxys).

And with DLC:

tGDfwQa.png

TOTAL: 98 slot spanning 111 characters!

NO STOPPING THIS TRAIN.

Actually; Having a mii that you could pick and choose moves from various fighters would be a lot of fun but I guess it's highly unlikely due to how OP or broken you could make them.

Alright, let's just calm down now...LOL

What can we expect?

Game & Wario: Brief Mention, maybe couple more game descriptions.
New Super Luigi U: Brief Mention, new trailer and rediscuss release setup
Pikmin 3: Challenge and Multiplayer modes (No Online)
The Wonderful 101: Gameplay and story discussion, Iwata Asks Post-ND
Bayonetta 2: Trailer (2014 release)
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD: Upgrade graphics, Master Quest or *1* New Dungeon at most
New Wii U Zelda: Just a mention, no new details whatsoever
New 3D Mario: Full Unveiling, Logo, Relative Release, Footage, Iwata Asks Post-ND
New Mario Kart: Full Unveiling, Logo, Relative Release, Footage, Iwata Asks Post-ND
Wii Fit U: Remention, Relative Release, New Footage, Fall 2013
Wii Party U: Rename?, More Footage, More Overview, Fall 2013
X: Official Rename, More Footage, 2014 Release, JPN-Only Iwata Asks Post-ND
Yoshi Yarn: Official Rename, More Footage, Early 2014 Release, Iwata Asks Post-ND
Retro's New Game (if not Mario Kart): Full Unveiling, Logo, Relative Release, Footage
Super Smash Bros.: Unveiling, Logo, No release date, Reveals 4 characters

Little room for more, there, especially if third parties arrive. Heck, they might even drop some of those in favor of filling third-party info (WB, Sega, SMT X FE). Also, note no mention of the Summer Update or VC. Those will be saved for post-E3, I feel.

Also, at the end, they will mention a 3DS ND scheduled for later in the week, with.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team: New Footage, More Discussion, Maybe Iwata Asks
Mario Golf: World Tour: New Footage, More Discussion, Release Date Confirm
Pokemon X & Y (could be given its own ND during roundtable): New Footage, Info
The Legend of Zelda: LTTP2: Official Rename, More Footage, December, Iwata Asks Post-ND
Mario Party 3D: New Footage, More Discussion, Early 2014 Release
Yoshi's Island: Official Rename, More Footage, 2014 Release
Super Smash Bros.: Unveiling, Different Logo from U, details on connection
New Kirby Title: I'd say it's about time to at least announce a new Kirby 3DS game.

It would be crazy if Friend Collection or Jam with the Band was confirmed for US, but I have my doubts.

Anyways, there is room for bigger or completely out-of-the-blue announcements, but I'm not holding my breath, especially given the above.

Kind of boring in here...

NINTENDO E3 DIRECT TIME!!!

*Iwata appears onscreen*

"We gonna need two hours fo dis shit, cancel yo plans."

"Price drop to TWO HUNDRED AND FIDDY DOLLA, MUDDA FUKKAAAAAAAAASSS."

"Here some new games, buy this bitch"

*booming wub-wub plays as camera zooms in and out on Reggie's crouch, various game logos spinning out of his unzipped fly*

- Budget HD remakes like KID ICARUS UPRISING and THE XENOBLADE CHRONICLES & BATEN KAITOS COLLECTION HD

- BAYONETTA: CLIMAX EDITION, $29.99 on eShop, RIGHT NOW. Locked 60fps 720p, Off-TV Play, Miiverse integration, touch Bayo on the touchscreen to make SEXY SOUNDS.

- VANQUISH 2, WiiU exclusive, Nintendo-funded cuz Sega love dat free money. Sam is accompanied by a ROBOTIC ATTACK BADGER.

- Speaking of Sega loving free money: SHENMUE III :O

- Speaking of cherished game series: MOTHER 4/EARTHBOUND 3, Monolith Soft's 3DS title! And new MOTHER/EARTHBOUND ANTHOLOGY, available in eShop on WiiU and 3DS -- all three games, in seven languages!

- SUPER MARIO SONIC, because one cash cow franchise AIN'T ENOUGH. Trade off seamlessly between the two former rivals. No sports competition. Just saving the world!

- Not same game as new 3D Mario, though; new 3D Mario is SUPER MARIO UTOPIA, a spiritual successor to Sunshine, with a whole archipelago, including a snowy ski resort isle and a glitzy desert casino. Mixes different perspectives on the same platforming between TV and GamePad. Out this holiday. HOLLA.

- MARIO KART U-TURN has amazing ModNation-style track editor, brings back the two-person karts from Double Dash, trade off with another player or AI being the "gunner" in the back seat using the GamePad to target other players, AW YISS.

- MARIO STRIKERS: THIRD STRIKE -- Shamelessly steals Street Fighter subtitle! Uses the GamePad in shield position to block incoming shots! AND LOOK AT DAISY'S HI-DEF ASS.

*Reggie pauses, resting his hand on the wall, catching his breath... Phew...*

*And then... MORE LOGOS, SPINNING OUT OF HIS FLY*

- BATTALION WARS for WiiU, RTS elements on the GamePad, seamless combat on the TV. Launches alongside ADVANCE WARS for 3DS, a sort of Prime/Fusion deal.

- WAVE RACE EXCITE, Monster's secret WiiU project, with high-powered Kawasaki Jet Skis AND all-new Innespace Seabreachers, hitting trigger points to transform the waterways with massive waves, whirlpools, waterfalls and more.

- PILOTWINGS WORLD, hell if I know who's making it, but it has Little States, AMERICA FUCK YEAH!

- F-ZERO UX and F-ZERO 3X, for WiiU and 3DS, respectively, in a same-day Fusion/Prime deal, with new tracks, random track generator, TRACK EDITOR, return of dedicated Death Race, online for 30 players (technical mahvel!), and the return of X's glorious butt-rock nu-metal soundtrack, all at 60 fps, 720p or in 3D, FALCON PAWWWNCH!

-STAR FOX ARMADA, for WiiU, 50 spectacular levels of on-rails and free-range vehicle-based goodness, supplemented by a Warhawk/Starhawk-style multiplayer mode, with on-foot and vehicle combat, hopping in and out of vehicles, taking the fight from terra firma to the stratosphere and into space like the canceled Battlefront III, OUT THIS HOLIDAY.

- METROID DREAD, for WiiU, takes place inside a living FLESH PLANET full of Giger-esque phallic shit, and features a bajillion interconnected passageways filled with monstrous motherfuckers including Kraid, finally in 3D (after being scrapped for Prime 1).

- STAR TROPICS REVIVAL, for WiiU, takes a long-forgotten NA-only franchise and brings it to the WORLD, all blissful '90-era Americana and maritime exploration and Uncharted-escape ruins exploration with aliens and shit, HEY-O.

- FATAL FRAME V, use the GamePad as your spirit camera, surveying your surroundings Panorama View-style, SPOOKY!

- SUPER SMASH BROS. BLITZ for WiiU and 3DS, features a highly stylized look, introduces five newcomers, PALUTENA, TAKAMARU, LITTLE MAC, RIDLEY, and BAYONETTA.

- ONE MORE THING: SHEIK: SHADOW SAVIOR, Retro's epic Zelda spin-off: Play as Zelda, play as Sheik! Stylish character action, with spell-casting and ninja shenanigans! Puzzle-solving, parkour, SOCIAL SIM (mingling with Hylian royalty), RTS elements (simple, end-of-act army skirmishes), sexy slow-motion cutscenes where Zelda stares at the screen and silently mouths "NOOOOOOOOO!" Prequel to the WiiU Zelda. HEY-O!

I'M HYPED.

Amazing post. Now, nothing will ever live up to this awesomeness.

If there is anything in this Direct about Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, New Super Luigi U, or Wonderful 101 then I will be really mad

That was the entire fucking point of the May direct, absolutely no need to bring them up again for this one.

A clusterfuck of dreams from on high = I'M HYPED.

.......

well shit...

:|

I have no words. Like if you were facing me in the flesh and telling me ALL of this, I would have no human way to respond....

Congratulations Neiteio, you've hyped me retarded.

What are people's expectations about when Retro's title will be released? Just thinking about how long they have probably been working on it I would hope it is released this fall. But if they have too much already announced for this year, I can see the title being pushed back even if its finished.

Many of us are hoping for a Monster Games-developed entry into one of Nintendo's racing franchises like Wave Race or F-Zero.

A Capcom relationship would be nice. Seems like things fell apart after the Capcom 5 and then the "test games" on Wii though. Then Capcom bet big on MT Framework last gen, and looks to be front and center with Deep Down on PS4. So I don't see that happening.

I honestly think the best chance Nintendo has for quality partnerships are precisely what you mentioned with Next Level Games. Find up-and-coming devs like NLG that Nintendo can groom their raw talent into very polished products with the Nintendo charm.

I'd go further and say that studios like NLG and Monster should eventually be bought and integrated into Nintendo, like Retro and Monolith Soft. I think having more Left Field Productions and whatever happened to Rare benefits nobody.

2014 for Retro and Smash.

Prepare to get mad. They explicitly mentioned that they would be discussing Pikmin 3's challenge and multiplayer modes "next time," as well as more information on The Wonderful 101. W101 was only shown in boxart and logo and release-date form last ND; the gameplay bulk will be at this ND.

Hypetardation?

Aw yisssssss

Also, forgot to mention, Iwata quickly outlines unified online accounts for WiiU and 3DS, and makes it so that if you buy a VC game on one system and it's available on the other, you automatically own it on both, and all VC prices are slashed 25 percent PERMANENTLY, with eShop credit given to those who bought them at full price in the last 30 days, and GCN and Wii titles are coming to WiiU VC, while SNES, Genesis, Turbografx, GBA and DS titles are coming to 3DS VC.

Also, massive Miiverse update, adding new functionality such as COLOR, SwapNote/FlipNote-style animations, multiple layers, the ability to save drafts, copy/paste, undo/redo, etc. Niiiiiice.

Why was this stuff not in the May Direct

why do you do this to me nintendo

How many Nintendo Directs has it been since they said there will be "2-3 before E3" or something? Any chance for a surprise Friday Direct?

The May one plus the one on Tuesday would make 2 Directs before E3. Also, I see no point in having another Direct between here and Tuesday...

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the 3rd party relations Iwata mentioned a while back. It'd be great if we got Nintendo VS Capcom or some cool shit like that.

Well if there were any further Directs before their E3 one, I'd suspect it would continue to get certain things out of the way before the teratons drop.

That's if "logic" were to be entered into the equation...

Because E3 is one of the busiest and high-traffic times for gaming news during the year. You don't give up the opportunity to talk about them during that time because a few people are 'sick' of hearing about them.

Ok, we good then

:)

I'm just trying to be realistic. When I see things like Monster Games' secret project, Next Level Games' secret project, Pokemon MMO, Mother IV and so on, I sometimes believe people are expecting all of these bombs to drop from the sky at once. Sure, there might be surprises but there are surprises ('Nintendo is paying for the development of a cancelled game by a niche developer in a mildly popular franchise') and impossible expectations ('Retro has 2 secret teams and all 3 games will be reveal this year with a signed cup of Miyamoto's semen').

EDIT: Clu Clu Land on 3DS VC next week in Japan...is it a hint? :P

Agreed on everything posted here, and I'm fucking hyped regardless. Though there aren't any surprise titles aside from Retro's game, the surprise still falls on all on the reveals/trailers.

Because E3 is one of the busiest and high-traffic times for gaming news during the year. You don't give up the opportunity to talk about them during that time because a few people are 'sick' of hearing about them.

I see why they're doing it but if just feels like filler to me, especially seeing as they held it back for E3 when they most likely could've shown it off in May. We've seen those two games many times before, I just want to see the new games I guess. :/

I hope they get Pikmin and W101 out of the way first then.

My predictions:
  • Super Mario U (Playable)
  • Mario Kart U (Playable)
  • Smash Bros 4 (Screens at least)
  • Wii Fit U Info
  • Wind Waker HD Info
  • Retro's title Reveal
  • Pikmin 3 Challenge Mode Info
  • Wonderful 101 Gameplay
  • Summer Update Info
  • A Link to the Past 2 Info
  • 3DS Miiverse Info
  • Flipnote 3D Info
Wouldn't be surprised to see more or less announced than what I said.

That's if "logic" were to be entered into the equation...

Makes sense. I think they're gonna have more than 1 "E3 Directs" though, and they will be announced at the end of Tuesday's Direct.

Also, the predictions I have seen so far today do not mention NFC. I'm sure they'll feature this next week too, and they might be an integral part of future games, perhaps an IP based on it
or frighteningly, as a potential used games DRM
.

I see why they're doing it but if just feels like filler to me, especially seeing as they held it back for E3 when they most likely could've shown it off in May. We've seen those two games many times before, I just want to see the new games I guess. :/

I hope they get Pikmin and W101 out of the way first then.

I'm sure they'll be first since they're the next big releases.

Plus, we haven't really seen that much of TW101 - we've only had 3 trailers in one year and there's still 4 protagonists to talk about and the plot details are scarce - (101 anonymous heroes try to save Blossom City from an Alien Invasion). Pikmin 3's multiplayer also hasn't been shown off and we just learned plot details and new play mechanics in the last Direct.

EDIT: I'm sure they'll announce Pokemon Scramble U, NFC figures exclusive to GameStop, during the Direct/E3 too.

Realistic expectations (in no particular order)

  • Pikmin 3 Info
  • Wonderful 101 Info
  • Summer update info
  • Virtual Console news / Earthbound available after Direct
  • eShop games
  • Wii Fit U
  • Wii Party U
  • Wii Sports U
  • Wind Waker HD
  • 3D Mario
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Smash Bros. U
  • Bayonetta 2
  • X
  • Yarn Yoshi
  • Sonic games
  • Retro's game

Plus, they'll announce a 3DS E3 Direct for sometime during the week as well.

If the Direct ends up being exactly this, I'll probably end up a little disappointed. Hoping for more, but I'm not expecting it.

My crazy prediction is that Nintendo will announce they're collaborating with Rocksteady on a new Metroid game. This would ensure a quality Metroid game while freeing up Retro to work on a new brand.
