Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

Does it rank up your att and def?

Cards only do ATK, Outfits DEF. Only 1 permanent ATK gained from buying it.
Apart from the active stats from having it equipped, of course.

Wow, say what you will about Limbo as a game, but this port is amazing. They got pretty much everything right, even the fine film grain.

Cool... hey, man, will you buy the "HDMI out" Vita finally?

I think it's better for Maxima and other Vita youtubers to wait for E3 to see if there is a Vita revision with HDMi or not and if not then they can put $400 or whatever on getting modded Vita with hdmi from Japan.

After playing the demo I couldn't resist and bought it. It looks nice and the animation is better than I remembered. The film grain popping/whatever looked a bit odd though. It's almost like it has colour to it either because the oled or it interacting with smudges on the screen(?)

I was thinking about buying that fake Trials game instead but I chose Limbo because I'd already deleted too much to make room for other games (will have to actually finish something to make room for the whopping 3300mb Blazblue)

So this Toro thing is like a more social gaming focused Animal Crossing with IAP. Its ok, still figuring some stuff out. Sorry if i didnt do some peoples assignments, i thought dont hustle would save energy but apparently it declines assignment.

For those wondering about Cytus Lambda that don't read the PSM thread. The game has been postponed until June 26th as the developers are taking advice from Sony about waiting until after E3 to release.

1st vita plat!

Now I can go make some more space and choose a new game to tackle from my ps+ collection.

I guess Toro game is useless for me as I'm always hovering at 98-100 friends already. Sucks.
I've got two people in there though at least. Hopefully more Vita buddies play.

-Guacamelee - a MetroidVania, but has some INCREDIBLY challenging and awesome platforming in it, as well as some very nice combat. One of my favorite games this year.

-Sly Thieves in Time - Great 3D adventure/platformer. Fun time-travelling story, good gameplay and graphics, and a meaty single player experience.

-Dokuro - Quirky art style, fun gameplay, and very challenging puzzles.

-Sound Shapes (has a bunch of great user created levels, with many curated into custom online albums called "Milkcrates". Basically, while the best levels are in the campaign IMO, it's still got MORE than enough content for the price.

LittleBigPlanet - I'm sure you know about LBP. If you like the series, it's the best one yet. VERY good game.

Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery - A really quirky episodic adventure puzzle game with full voice acting and Professor Layton-esque gameplay for only $2.99 for the first episode. A good 3-4 hour game that's easily worth the small price.

Thomas Was Alone - Now, this is a pretty short game, probably 4-5 hours at most, at $10. I feel it's a LITTLE pricey, but the gameplay and narrative are VERY solid. I wouldn't say it's incredibly challenging, but it's relaxing and got some great platforming in there.

Great suggestions, thanks VanWinkle, Looking at the May thread it seems Sound Shapes is one of the gaf favorites,I guess Ill give it a purchase.

I think Dokuro looks awesome and if there is a good challenge I think I just might bite.

Jacob Jones looks worth its 3 dollars asking price, Ill get that for sure

I can't get on my Vita til tonight to download the Toro app :I no net connection...

How do I hide my Twitter handle so you have to quote me?

Well here's what we can do. Any one's who's added me already in the Toro app delete me from your friends list. That way we can check if I stay in your little village even if I'm not in your friends list. If it works that means that people can simply delete the users they've added after they make it into the Toro App.

As for me, Level 30 and I got ya'll working on some nice little projects. I'm gonna turn in for the night. :P

Very excited for Limbo today (UK). I've never got round to playing it on the other platforms.

Need to finish off Guacamleee first, such a fun game.

Okay, so a lot of people were wondering why Jak & Daxter collection on the vita looks so bad (sorry for being late. Every time I came in to read this thread, I remembered that I didn't look for the video and that kept nagging me until I went and did... Hoping that this isn't considered a thread derailment of some sort).

For example:

I know us gamers want everything in the best way possible. However, there is talk of how difficult it would be to port Jak & Daxter to the PS3 to the point of it being "impossible to do" as Naughty Dog said to Mass Media (let alone a PS vita later as what's happening right now). I'm glad that the remakes ended up as well as they did although the PS vita's version may use more polishing, but I imagine that they may have reached their allocated budget, so they simply have to make do with a well running game vs looks better with a shitty frame rate or something.

The development talk starts at 7:25 as the link has it right here. The video is really worth watching and you will hear in it from Gavin/Robin about how the custom tools/everthing they used bit them back later basically.

If this bombs I hope they don't hold it on vita users cause I'm not buying this
Looks like poop

Most Vita screenshots, at least those taken directly on the device, are not pretty.
I'm reserving opinion of the game until I see what the game looks like in motion.

Many Vita games look a lot worse in stillshots than they really are on Vita's screen/playing, so maybe if there is a demo, give it a shot instead of crapping on it that fast. The same could be said for many other games anyway though.

It is just that my whole point is about not expecting too much from PS2 games remade on a portable especially in this case with how weirdly complicated the development of J&D games was combined with the PS2's architecture.

The trailer had some sketchy parts
I'm aware of the Screen shot thing but no game looks this bad besides the ratchet and clank one

Well, why not do a HD collection of other games, then? I guess some people wanted this, but why not a Syphon Filter HD collection, making Vita native versions of the PSP games.

Which could then set up a Vita sequel, since the 2nd one left a lot unanswered.

I mean, Sony's got no shortage of IP they could have made a HD collection out of. So why one that was so difficult?

Has this been posted?
Dragon's Dogma
Quest
announced for PS VITA:
The latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu has revealed Dragon's Dogma Quest, a free-to-play online 2D role-playing game for PlayStation Vita.

According to Famitsu, via Siliconera, Dragon's Dogma Quest will launch in Japan this autumn. Publisher Capcom is yet to confirm a western release.

The spin-off is described as "fast-paced" - that is, it's designed to be played on the go. The focus is on strategy rather than action, and you decide your strategy based on the enemy's appearance, apparently.

There are dungeons, towns, villages and sub-quests. With online multiplayer, your four pawns can team up with a friend's four pawns, making for party maximum of eight.

We'll ask Capcom about the possibility of a UK release.

Because the PSP games (outside of Sony's silly disabling random PSP games) both work fine on Vita with the default dual-analog setup. What REALLY needs the HD-ifying is the original trilogy, updating the gameplay to the SF of today and giving the story a good polish.

You would have to ask someone at Sony that is willing to give the correct answers (and I don't think there is anyone that will do that.)

But I assume that there is no Syphon Filter collection because the first 3 entries in the series are PS1 games even though you said they could just port the PSP game. On the other hand, all of the J&D games were on PS2 and with all respect to Bend Studio(I am a fan of Syphon Filter too), J&D is from Naughty Dog who were getting a lot of buzz around from their Uncharted games.

SF is also a much older franchise between three consoles. I don't think they see it as something that will make them money. :/ On the other hand, the J&D collection on PS3 may have sold enough to warrent a PSV port.

Oh and what BlueMaxima said is true. The PSP games of SF do work on the PSV apparently (unsure if all of them do).

Ok I totally missed this Toro thing.
Is it available in EU, and can someone sum up what's the game ( is it a game ? ) about ?

May as well add myself. The game is a pretty cool concept really. Maybe Sony Japan's answer to the 3DS streetpass and it could easily be how the PS4 uses your Twitter/Facebook account to match you up with your friends.
