Iwata walks out on stage with a Bomb-omb, not real but heavy and roughly the size of a bowling ball. He stares blankly at the audience as the applause slowly vanquishes. Silence. Moments pass before Iwata drops the bomb, and timed precisely with the bomb hitting the floor, the massive screens behind him come to life with a Steampunk Link design with the words "next E3" and Iwata finishing with, very calmly, "this is what you want."

Hm? Really? When did he say something like that? IF they reveal anything it will be an eShop title...

One week ago:

Trying to remember everything going on right now, but I have another (not Sonic) cool exclusive for a smaller game next week.

It's one that I'm personally very excited for. Anyway - that's next week. Yes, this is a game coming to Wii U.

Ah, by the way, before anyone gets too carried away - the smaller game I was referencing isn't ONLY on Wii U. Just to be clear.

Does anyone have a schedule of E3 conferences and livestreams for different companies? I know pre-E3 basically "starts" tomorrow with Konami and MGS voice actor, but I want to make sure I miss nothing, and want to mark my calendar.

Why? He has ruined one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises, he has continually failed to understand what went wrong. He thinks WW is a great Zelda game, when it is one of the weakest entries, the only redeeming point of the game are the graphics (hyperbole, but the game was mediocre and dragged a lot).

It's not his fault alone, obviously Nintendo as a company has allowed this, but his failed direction of the games is certainly not what Zelda games need or what people want from it.

[nerd rant]
Zelda games nowadays are plagued with stupid design decisions, handholding, giving puzzles answers, forced tutorials, stupid controls just for the sake of it (controls in SS were awful with the Wiimote +, when in TP they worked awesome with normal Wiimote, stylus controls worked, but were not optimal, buttons+arrows would have worked better, and DS games suffered from controls, because there were practically no enemies and everything felt like a chore, motion controls in SS were WORSE than in Wii Sports 2, etc), easy enemies that require no strategy (and when they do require, it is a chore) and the awful story.

Message to Nintendo: Stories in videogames suck, especially yours. Every single one of them. The story of Mario Galaxy, FF, DQ, all your Zelda games, MGS, etc etc. Stories are a means to an end, keep them short and simple. NSMB, SMG2, DKCR are games released by you that got the story right. Bad guy destroys the world, you destroy the bad guy. Bad guy kidnap the princess, you rescue the princess. Bad guy steal your bananas, you beat the crap out of him. END

There's also the loot, why do Zelda games need fucking loot?? I mean, I love collecting useful shit, money, bombs, hearts, pieces of hearts, etc; but when you start collecting stupid shit just to sell it and buy superfluous crap that does nothing (ship parts, train parts, etc), you know something is wrong.

I disagree with pretty much every word in this post.

But there is neither a stage nor an audience, remember?!

Don't have Konami on there.

Sony is so annoying with their timeslot. 3AM ...fuck you!

I think this game is one. I could be wrong.

I never played it.

OoT

Then there can never be any game that's ,,universally liked'' if it means that literally every person on the planet likes it, lol.

Are you saying at the time of release? Even then, There were still people who didn't like it.

Wrong, my uncle works for Nintendo and he says that they have been preparing the bomb since the Wii U bombed

Moons are far more effective than bombs at killing everybody. You'll see in time.

I'm pretty sure Rich followed up by saying it's not going to be that big of a deal. So don't get too excited. Likely just a port or an eShop game.

You can always find people that didn't like a certain game. There will never be one that literally satisfies every human being. Pretty sure ,,universally liked'' as in other posts simply suggests that the majority agrees on the greatness of certain games such as Galaxy and OoT here... Compared to Skyward Sword, for which you can easily find whining pretty much everywhere.

Yummy, dat Zelda "fan" base. Soo good. Though your hate seems to extend past this gen's Zeldas, lets wait and see what he does with the non new control Zeldas ((starting with LTTP2). As it seems a lot of the hate stems from Nintendo using new ( and in my opinion better) controls. Though, there are other complaints (and you addressed some in your post) none of those are consistent across the two DS, and two Wii Zeldas. Playing through Oracle of Seasons right now, and it's clear to me that the design of every thing but the overworlds have gotten much better in these new school Zeldas. Slap on that old-school overworld design and we'll see where we stand.

i figured this is a good thread as any for this question as i didn't want to open another thread. I'm dusting off my 3DS after not having time/money to get games. Which one should i buy?

- Luigis Mansion
- Animal Crossing
- NSMB2
- DKCR (i have on Wii but never played it)
- Fire Emblem (never really played one of those, not sure if i dig them)
- Virtues Last Reward (played and loved the first one but i have a lot of reading to do for finals so this might not be the best option)

leaning towards AC since playing a game while it is new is always fun.

Great, I can use this in the E3 2013 General Information & FAQ thread (which is going up tomorrow).

Also, a rather long, hype inducing fanfic coming up soon (it's like a transcript of the Nintendo Direct broadcast).

First of all, if you're alright with waggle, DKCR just shot up to the top of your "to play" list. Thank me later.

Secondly, I'd go with Luigi's Mansion. The game has so much personality and is a blast to play.

-3d is a gimmick
-is a rehash of LttP
-overworld doesn't use the classic theme
-sprite games never age poorly
-there aren't secrets in every square foot of the field
-Navi
-some people physically can't acclamate to 3d games
only valid complaint

Skyward Sword's features might be devisive to longtime fans, but I would 100% enjoy the same motion gameplay/looting in a different IP. Maybe Four Swords expanded into an MMO-lite game.
