Oh God, the waiting!

If most of the people who bought KIU felt compelled to buy it again, they'd probably make more money than they did the first time since the initial cost of development (prototyping, design, etc) won't be as high. They also won't have to bundle in a plastic stand with each copy this time. And they'd probably get a number of new sales from gamers who were intrigued but turned off or scared away by word of the polarizing controls. A WiiU game would solve it. And really, the sheer spectacle and scale of some KIU moments really calls out for the TV. It could be really impressive, and not just "for a port."
Personally, I'm way faster with pointer controls on CoD than I am with stylus on KI:U. Just make it so when you're at the edge of the screen, you turn really fast.
So we skipping days now lol?

I'd have to imagine that if they tasked a set of code monkeys with the grunt work of overhauling KIU's models, it'd still cost far less, and take far less time, than the original game's development. I don't think that's too outlandish an assumption.Herea re the big assumptions. Uprising's models look really rough. The game looks great because it's constantly in motion, but you're offering people a game that they already turned down and probably won't look as good as a ground-up game.
Sure, controls fix the problem the original had, but the original release has come and gone. Hell, are there any HD remakes that have outsold the original?
Now, don't get me wrong. If Uprising U was announced I'd need a chisel to get my hands out of my pants. I'm just not convinced it's a good idea.

You might be right about its sales prospects, though. I guess its success would depend on a combination of the DKCR3D effect -- "Oh, that title everyone raved about but I couldn't play due to the controls now plays the way I want!" -- and just the sheer spectacle of seeing Ch. 11 in HD.
Release a Kid Icarus Uprising HD that comes with a demo for Smash 4.
A remake of KIU would probably be more profitable than most of their all-original games that don't have "Mario," "Zelda" or "Pokémon" in the title. The bulk of the design cost is out of the way, the new controls and console power would make it attractive, and all that recent marketing might would give it a brand equity baseline to build off of.
Yea I can see that happening. With the amount of marketing they pushed out, I think a lot of people would recognize Pitt and all the advertising assets they got out there - even on a subconscious level. Couple that with 'next gen', 'HD', or even 'Wii U' (even, haha) once they get that brand chugging along after this new beginning for the console; that's money in the bank I think. The more they push, the more Kid Icarus could become something that garners some mainstream recognition. Whether one knows the exact figures or not, it was clearly a lot of money they put into the media around KIU. It'd be a waste to let it go on one underselling game. Ba bam
Oh, the Zone of the Enders/Metal Gear Solid 2 effect
yea it's hard to believe they would stop at one game. If sakurai isn't down, I'm pretty sure Nintendo will just hand it off to someone else.
this is just Iwata being smitten with his bishie Sakurai.
That sounds awesome (open-world Pokémon Sap). And sorry to hear today was rough for you. :-\By far the most rational explanation.
While we're in fantasy land. I feel like Xenoblade's world was perfect for Pokemon. Imagine a Pokemon action RPG spinoff where you can pick out the Pokemon you want roaming the landscape. Or a semi-open world Pokemon Snap.
I had a pretty bad day today. Thanks for being fun NintenGAF.![]()
LIGHT THE SCRAFTYDEVIL SIGNAL.What?!? Kid Icarus Uprising HD?
No,no,no,NO!
If anything, it's obvious we all want Kid Icarus: Uprising 2, with Pit & company crossing over with Gurren Lagann universe, since the enemies comes from there, and new sections inspired to ZOE where you drive the fuc*ing Gurren Lagann.
Crates and boxes...a smash brothers hint?
Kid icarus U means no starfox.
If they would like to create a new kid icarus, i hope that they going to make it a different game than the one of 3ds. Kid icarus should be a huge world with template and backtracking.
Don't get me wrong, i do love the 3ds version. But was not something that i was hoping to be so...
Super Smash Crate Bros U

It still hurts, Sakurai.
Leading up to Brawl, crazy people such as myself saw Ridley in the clouds in Brawl's Subspace Emissary opening. We thought it hinted at Ridley being a newcomer. Not seeing it...

In one of the deleted scenes, Ridley appears to Samus in the clouds and tells her to take her place in the circle of life. And they totally spell SEX if you look close enough.

I want mah Widwee.
*sucks his thumb*
I'd rather original games than HD remakes at this point. While I acknowledge that Nintendo does create new IPs, I think I want more on the level of Sony. Just look at their announced titles (from their Financial Results Briefing):
