I haven't thought of it like that before, but I think everyone knew a new Mario, MK and Smash Bros was inevitable anyway.
Now, if we get a new Star Fox or Metroid or F-Zero, then you'll see surprise-hype overload.

Like I already said before, Hashino teased FE x SMT back in August 2012.
It's a problem with press events and reveals in general now. Stuff is always said "We'll showcase a new ____ here." Or "We'll show you _____ here", and that kills the event. It happens with MS, Sony, Apple, Samsung, and even Nintendo. It somewhat kills part of what was awesome about it.
Never again will we have Twilight Princess level shock
A Metroid though... If they announce that this year, I'm pretty sure that a lot of people will be shocked.

This hype is all consuming it will devour anything in it's path.
That's fairly ridiculous. Mario Galaxy controlled mostly traditionally, and the spin was arguably the most unobtrusive use of motion on the Wii.

Ah, dude, I don't know if you heard. I mean, Mario Galaxy was great and all, but The Last of Us is the greatest damn game of all time. I mean, it's the Citizen Kane of gaming. I haven't played it yet, but I know it to be true. Part of the developers' name is an acronym for God.

Sounds perfect for the 3ds and connectivity. Maybe a separate mode from regular where you can play your leveled versions of character or whatever.

Well, Brawl already had equipable stickers with special effects for Subspace Emissary. The way they were talking about the 3DS version at that point did seem to suggest some actual visual changes though, but I'll be really surprised if they manage to implement that.

Nintendo has never said that they would be releasing a trailer. Now that Sakurai also is going to E3, it probably hints that the development is going very well and we should get it very soon. (Still think it's 2014, but probably the first half)
