New thread for new moose.

Frightening!

Have they said whether this game will be more about witching (finding and killing monsters etc) like in the books and what I hear the first game was like, or more political intrigue stuff like in the second game? I thought that got a bit convoluted and boring personally, I'd rather be going from town to town killing monsters.

I have never played a Witcher game, is it comparable to Skyrim in that is is completely open? Can that mountain in the background be traveled?

Dat grass. Dat grounded medieval fantasy look. Please let us have some gameplay released during E3.

And to think you'll be able to trek over to those mountains.

First game was very political too. The Witcher 3 more or less has two layers of narrative. The primary layer, the one that is your driving force through the story, is Geralt's personal mission. That is to find and save characters he loves, and tackle his inner demons like The Wild Hunt. The second layer of narrative is the more political side of things, which involves the various leaders, their warmongering, and so on. Geralt will naturally get caught up in these, but the extent of your involvement and the impact you make will be up to you.

So yeah. Main quest primarily centred around Geralt's character, as he's stuck in a world of politics which he's unfortunately drawn into.

The Witcher 1 and 2 are explorable hubs with multiple areas based around chapters. The Witcher 3 is full open world. You see it, you can go there.

EDIT: I said it in the Edge thread, but The Witcher is like playing Game of Thrones with a bit more fantasy, from the perspective of a character like Bron or The Hound.

OK thanks. That sounds pretty reasonable.

I'd rather play the Witcher games than watch Game of Thrones. I know that's nerd blasphemy, but actually engaging in all the politics and getting to kill some cool supernatural enemies along the way, is just more interesting to me.

But then I've got an allergy towards typical fantasy, kinda tired of it except for the Witcher series.

The Witcher narrative is like Game of thrones if Bronn was the protagonist.
