Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

Urge to replay Xenoblade just to hype myself for the possibility of playable Shulk.

And there needs to be more "metal" versions of songs like Gourmet Race.

All right, here is my prediction of what newcomers will be shown:

Shulk
Little Mac
Palutena
Ridley
Mega Man/Pac-Man/Bayonetta

Not Takamaru.

If anyone has any really good questions for Sakurai - interesting questions that won't be answered during the Nintendo Direct - let me know. No guarantees, but I'll do my best to read them all.

Nice, maybe too personal, but you could ask him how he is recovering from his injury (calcific tendonitis) and how it has influenced in the development of the game?

This is something that confuses me as well.

Is it because they also have the tv show?

Probably. After all, I do think the character choices for Pokemon are largely influenced by the show (bar Pokemon Trainer) and overall extended marketing beyond the games, thus why I think Mewtwo and Genesect have strong chances being the big focus right now. Maybe Sylveon and the Eevees too.

Going by past trends, a new theme song should be expected.

And I honestly hope so, too, because Brawl's theme really didn't do anything for me compared to the first two games'.

I'd hope we'd get an intro as good as Melee's, too. Brawl's was a serious letdown.

This sounds like the best case scenario. I'm expecting 1 (maybe 2) of them, and a bunch of other lesser known characters. I could see 1 returning from melee in the trailer too.

New... form?

Behold.

I want the volcano from DKCR and the beach too. Make it happen sakurai!
Also we need a Yarn Kirby costume.

I don't know how possible this would be, but a level based off the Sunset Levels, where at certain points you only see the silhouettes of characters...

I know with Melee's Debug Mode you could basically turn the characters solid black, so it probably wouldn't be too hard to mimic the effect from DKCR, although in that case the silouhettes were separate models iirc.

New... form?

Mewtwo has a New Form in X/Y debuting in the movie.

A source that has correctly provided info regarding X/Y (guessed English names spot on before they were revealed to the public) also says there's another new Form we haven't seen as well.

I don't remember that. While I think Sora would be a great character to appeal to more people, he isn't a character I associate with Nintendo. I really don't like to debate whether or not a character "deserves" to be in Smash, but I think Sora would be less "deserving" than a Nintendo character. The same applies to Snake even though both characters would be great to have.
I think more people associate Sora with Nintendo more than Snake because we've had 4 KH games on Nintendo portables, two of them were pretty major to the story (CoM and DDD) While all we had for MGS was a shitty NES version, a non canon game for the GBC, a remake, and a 3D port.

Mike Jones (StarTropics) and Takamaru (Murasame Castle) for our old school reps from both sides of the globe? ;)

Being more serious about it, ask if he familiar with the franchise as it is seemingly the only Nintendo franchise that wasn't referenced or acknowledged with even a sticker in Brawl. Beyond that, what are the true limits he places upon himself when deciding a roster and what is his process when determining what a character's representation should be when they have multiple "incarnations" (a la Wario and his Wario Land/WarioWare stuff) in a Smash game.

Edit: Melee had the best opening easily. I still have a profound love for the theme Smash 64 used visually for the characters though (child's play toys).

Which leads into another silly question, will the announcer yell the title name this time? That was sorely missed in Brawl.

I can imagine it being something like this. I'd love to see Palutena included and I actually have alot of faith that Shulk will be included in the next Smash, too. I even asked Soraya Saga on twitter if Shulk had any chance of being playable and her response was "fingers crossed ;)"

...There's just something about that wink.

Another one? Hmm.

Yeah, according to WPM, Pokebeach's webmaster who appears to legitimately have a source related to a DigiPen tester:

"If the previously revealed forme of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly similar to Mewtwo's original design, the second supposed form of Mewtwo can be said to look roughly/vaguely similar to Mew's design."

Ask him about his policies regarding 3rd Party characters in Smash. If they have changed at all from his previous views (Character must have originated in a video game, characters who have been on Nintendo systems, etc.)

I think lesser known characters would be kept for the Dojo itself. Metaknight, Zero Suit Samus, Pit, Wario and Snake were all fairly big in one way or another, even if Pit was just a fan favorite choice for Smash, rather than an actual very famous character.

I actually don't mind the new design, even though I do like the original more. If it does make it into smash, then I'd have to believe that they'd go with the original if this rumor is true.

You should definitely ask him about how he chooses the roster, especially since there aren't many new IPs in the last generation to choose from, and if popularity polls/online requests play a bigger role in influencing his decisions.

Oh yeah... Dammit, Neon! I can't hype myself up that much, it could potentially hurt.

Dark Shadow taking Ganondorf's Place, and Ganondorf with a new Moveset using Magic and his Sword?

*I don't live in the real world*

My question is, what are they gonna do with Ganondorf and Sheik this time around? Link and Zelda are most likely going to have their Skyward Sword designs this time around, but what of them? Neither of them would really translate well to the SS art style, unless this game gives everyone a unique design like Melee did, which I would not complain about.

Drop Sheik and Ganon (and toon Link), add in Girahim. Use the newly empty slots for new non-clone characters and give Zelda a new move set.

Well, technically...
Sheik is in SS
. Different character, of course, but still plenty usable. Ganondorf could just be dropped considering he's hardly relevant right now, and was just a Captain Falcon clone anyway. There's plenty of Zelda characters to pool from.
