Well, I'm definitely not payed and this game is mind-blowing.

I guess I could go back to that E3 stage and test out the AI behaviour.

What about the games that really are a 9-10/10 for you? They would have to be an actual 9-10/10 on Metacritic too. They can't show up as 11-12/10. So how do you differentiate between the real 9-10/10 games and the "just an 8/10" 9-10/10 games?

Games either deserve high scores, or their high scores have been paid for.

That is literally how some people think. Homosapien is a crazy species.

That's not very nice now is it... Also, that website with a minorityjust happened to be funded by MS.

They gave Journey a 10. Still though, I don't think it should be counted towards the metacritic score just because of the huge amount of bias that could be involved.

What's worse is calling someone an attention-seeking idiot for having the guts to voice an unpopular view. My insult was mild in comparison.

I really despise mob mentality. Not that it has much impact here, since we're just talking about a game, but it just annoys me that anyone over the age of 13 would honestly think that the majority opinion is the right opinion by definition. That mentality is what makes social progress so slow and painful.

What you call "guts", I call bias. Either way, Polygon's review is one man's opinion. It's not going to stop the game from being one of the highest rated games of the generation in the end.

*groan*

There is literally no such thing as a biased opinion. If you're suggesting that Polygon's review did not reflect the reviewer's actual opinion of the game, that would be known as lying.

So is this game just story and dramatica, or is there something more? Reviews seem to mainly be focusing on that. Im afraid with stuff like Tomb Raider and Uncharted getting more and more linear its all amounting to watching and minorly interacting with somewhat subpar 15 hour movie.
That the case here or what?

Okay, and my boyfriend thinks I am insane for this line of thinking:

But if a game is continually awarded a 10/10, it BETTER challenge my idea of what a game can achieve, and not JUST narrative-wise, but gameplay wise.

Did you beat it Anastacio? In one sentence how awesome is it :)?

I haven't beaten it yet, I must say I'm a very busy guy but today I got some more hours dedicated for the game. I were overwhelmed by the opening and then after that I weren't as impressed but it's really picking up and it's getting better and better I must say. I hope to complete it by the weekend. :)

I also see people are worried reviews are only praising it because of its narrative and story etc. but the gameplay just works. It just works. You feel like you are in total control and all of the mechanics work seamlessly together. Everything from shooting, stealth, melee combat, creating attention, crafting, upgrading, taking cover. All of it is so seamless. And the AI, animations and banter between characters adds to it all.

I don't know what's happening to me but lately I cannot get into playing anything. My backlog is just infinite at this point. But man, I want to play The Last of Us so bad. Absolutely loved the demo.

Maybe the wrong place to put this, but the official soundtrack is available on Spotify right now. Might even be old news for some.

Going to give it one spin and then await the game to listen more.

My backlog is infinite at this point, but next Friday when Last of Us comes, I'm dropping life for it. :p

What city are you currently in?

Spoiler tag it please in your reply :p

No.

It's very unlike uncharted or tomb raider. It's not about moving from scripted event to cutscene...the gameplay actually is as core as the narrative.

So I'll save you and me some time..by directing you to rev3 sessler review.

Yes, please do this. Because I was interested in the AI so I messaged people on YouTube who have uploaded playthroughs and emailed Sterling and CVG's Andrew Kelly

Kelly responded:
"The E3 demo in the hotel was definitely scripted. The moment where an enemy hears Joel's gun click and knows he's run out of ammo is the biggest clue. That never happened to me once.

The AI is by no means dumb, though. It's not as dynamic as that demo suggested, but they're smart and aggressive. More than once I'd be busy shooting at some guys in the distance, only to hear someone run up behind me and whack me with a pipe.

The levels are large and open, so there are a lot o ways for them to flank you – and they don't shout "I'm flanking him!" like in most games, giving the game away.

I watched the E3 demo back after finishing the game and you can tell immediately that a lot of it was pre-canned. But that was early in the game's development, and I think they just wanted to give people a flavour of the game. Ellie is just as smart and useful, and the combat encounters still feel brutal and unpredictable."

But the I've read in other reviews and heard on forums that the AI does do stuff like that. Can you play the E3 section and compare?

Listing to the soundtrack at soundcloud. Gustavo Santaolalla did a really good job to capture the tension and atmosphere. I love that he almost just uses the guitar to make the music.

OT will be up after E3 so most likely on 11th or 12th.

Huge chances of people spoiling themselves and posting in the OT whether it would be from meltdowns or from spoilers in live chat.

It's better if Ot is upon 11th or 12th.

Shouldnt be a huge issue. I hope. Its not the like OT is second coming of jesus :P

Anyways if people have good OT subtitle do suggest other wise i am going with

Really hoping Amazon make some sort of mistake and send this out a week early.

Also hoping (probably in vain), that this will be the game to get my wife interested in gaming again. She loves horror/zombie apocalypse stuff, but the last game she was really interested in was TF2.

Joking :)
Maybe.

I'm 5 hours in - yeah, there's some little AI problems which some time can confuse some of the scripts, but overall, we are talking about the best collaboration between movie experience and pure gameplay. In other words, action adventure of the next generation.

The sound design in this game is pretty amazing. You need DTS receiver, badly.

First 20 minutes are... hm, I'm speechless.

Ok, enough, I'm going back to TLoU...

But they do shout "flank him!" sometimes.

I'm not sure I understand your reasoning.

This thread will in all respect serve as the OT thread until the actual OT thread is posted. There is just as much risk of spoilers being posted here as there would be in an official thread. I suggest you do not give into fear or threats of spoilers from others. However, the OT can of course arrive at any point in time, I just don't agree with your reasoning.

Edit: Hmm. Silly joke.

Been burned to many times but really hope the hype is justified.

Well it sounds as if even if the game does not deliver fully it will still be a great game.
