I bought Kontrol Freeks and it changed my life. One thing I missed about PC gaming was being to do a quick turn around still have really tight precision at the same time. I've always played on low sensitivity due to my lack luster aim with controllers. So when I play FPS I have no chance at countering anything from the side or behind because of my low sensitivity. With the kontrol freeks I can turn the sensitivity up almost all the way in most game. It's a great feeling to have finite control and to be able to whip around and own people if needed. The increase in stick length is weird at first, but that increase in range of motion is so needed for me.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm actually going to look into this.

So now. Any word on the AI? The trashing on reddit got me concerend. My friend linked it to me and people were saying the AI is utter " Crap ".

Just judging from the demo I had no issues with the AI and I havent read anywhere that it's "utter crap". Dont buy into everything you read. Especially on fucking Reddit.

Nice try, Kontrol Freeks sales representative.

Of course I dont buy it. Its just my friend linked it and I figured i should read it for the lulz then i saw everybody trashing it lol.

Its reddict.
I've read similar things on the offical forum and on Gamefaqs

I would really like detailed impressions of the human enemy AI from the many people here who have the game. Because IMO none of the videos since E3 have been as jaw dropping or impressive.

Anyone attempted any AI "stress tests"?

Jim Sterling's review addresses it pretty heavily.

One thing I love about The Last of Us, however, is that even if one's stealthy approach fails, there are still options. Joel is equipped with enough weaponry to generally hold his own in a fight, and can even run away and hide until enemies lose him. Unlike too many stealth games to name, enemies don't all magically know where the player is the moment Joel's spotted, and sometimes allowing bandits to spot you and give chase can be a valid strategy. There are one or two moments where I monumentally screwed up, but was able to claw myself out of trouble alive. It took quick thinking, and I survived by the skin of my teeth, but a level head and an awareness of one's surroundings can get you through an encounter still breathing. There's nothing lost in taking a long time to prepare and scout the environment before engaging a group of opponents, and a backup plan is a requirement.

It should also be noted that the artificial intelligence of the Infected is remarkable. While not exactly careful, Infected actually know enough to not charge at you in a straight line. During one moment, I was actually snuck up on by a monster, who turned and ran when I spotted him. He came back with a friend, and proceeded to dart from doorway to doorway, in an attempt to confuse me. Human enemies aren't quite that tricky, but they do try to outflank you and keep you moving. The Last of Us definitely boasts some of the best A.I. I've ever seen, and I'm very cynical when it comes to A.I. boasts.

Theres more in the review.

Its more of what I noticed as well. The AI shown back at e3 that grasped your attention seems to be nowhere to be found now. For example enemies run toward you empty handed to punch you while you aim a shot gun at them. Thats what people I think are talking about, legit if u ask me especially when ND said none of the e3 demo was scripted. Im pretty sure people are talking about the human AI and not the infected.

Reddit, Official forums, and Gamefaqs....

Quality sources there. I am with you though, I would love to hear from some members of GAF on this.

But it's more than just flanking or working together

The E3 AI was smart, would flee and hide from you, was incredibly dynamic to you, communicated realistically. They seemed almost human

That's the kind of stuff I want to know about

And yeah those sources aren't the most reliable, but with all the amazing reviews and the release closing in, I'm getting a bit anxious

To make it clear, I didn't put Uncharted 2 on Easy because I thought Normal was too difficult or that I was frustrated because I was dying too often (I wasn't dying at all), but merely because I thought it was too dissonant and outside of my realm of personal preference to have to use so many bullets at center-mass to kill a person.

Simple as that.

Not trying to knock whatever makes you happy. It's worth noting that changing difficulty levels will also affect enemy behaviour (they tend to be less aggressive and wait around more at lower difficulties) and how much damage Drake can take. Moving from cover to cover and/or using the environment becomes less of a concern. I play Uncharted mostly for the pew pew, though, and I like that style of combat (e.g. on crushing in an area like UC3 shipyard).

There was actually one scene where Joel had to chase down one of the guys because he was running away. I thought that was a neat mechanic the AI seemed amazingly lifelike. Cant wait to test this out for myself.

I have tiny little girl hands.

Man, I wish this was out today! Would make the pre-E3 weekend a pure joy! Cannot wait to play this game.

so is this game better than Super Mario Galaxy

That's totally subjective and up to a persons taste. I find a few games better than Super Mario Galaxy.

As for Mario Galaxy one and two being the highest rated exclusives this gen that really means nothing to me and cant fairly be compared to say Uc2 which is one ooint lower, for the simple fact that Uc2 was reviewed by over 120 reviewers and had those scores agregated (the more reviews added the higher the probabikity score will be lowered), meanwhile both galaxies had far fewer reviews aggregated in.

Metacritic isn't also a fair way to judge a games worth or compare games scores because they seem to arbitrarily include some scores and not others at times and have never given a clear reason for this. Some reviewers may review the same games but then other reviwers are included in some games aggregated scores, but not in others.

Beyond that you also have troll reviews and reviews in question like Polygons bringing down the score. We all know companies use cheap tactics and pay off reviewers at times to lower competitors score. Microsoft and Sony are in direct competition so when games get reviewed and you see a number away from the norm you always think "hmmmm did so and so company get in someone's pocket" Nintendo isnt often seen as the other big twos competition and i dont think these tactics have been used to lower down their exclusive review scores. Competition has been real tense between Somy and Micro.

But at the end it can all be conspiracy theories Lol. Also whether a game is better than another is up to your tastes, Some of the most acclaimed games this gen. Like Far cry 3, RDR, Assn. Creed, Gta4 I find super repetitive and boring and wouldn't give more than an 80 avg score, yet they are thee highest rated games this gen.

Are you seriously trying to compare The Last of Us - a realistic mature survival horror/action game - to Super Mario Galaxy - a light hearted kid friendly platformer puzzle game?

Context and genre need to be taken into account here.

Just because games have similar scores, doesn't mean they're comparable. Epic Mickey, Banzo, those are games to compare Mario Galaxy to.

Not The Last of Us

What were the estimates on how long this game is? I remember people on the internet around launch saying uncharted 2 was 15 hours but I beat it in under 8.

The AI is great and they constantly try to flank you, they are aggressive if they are armed with weapons and they run for their lives if you have the upper hand. They are really not that great at fighting (Normal difficulty) but I think it's awesome, that when you are a fight with one, the rest don't just stand and stare, they actually try to help their mates.

The AI is different when enemies haven't seen you. Because when you haven't been noticed then they can't see Ellie or who else might be with you, and thus a Clicker and Ellie can easily walk into each other without knowing that somebody is right in front of them.

My wife: I've been thinking about something...

Me: Oh boy...

My wife: We should get The Last Of Us.

Me: I...I was thinking that too.

Yeah that's all being I read otherwise the Ai is great.

I think they did it so your partner Ai wont be too troublesome.

GryOnline.pl 9/10

The Last of Us is an excellent action adventure game with superb graphics and audio and really great characters. The game shows us a quite realistic vision of a cataclysmic future, and at the same time is a very good shooter mixed with high quality stealth game. The Last of Us is a linear adventure, but this is a good kind of "corridor" story that offers some freedom and doesn't limit your imagination. What is more, it's one of the most mature games in history.

Yup and it's a good design decision.

I'm actually really amazed at Ellie, how she just minds her own. I just wish she would react when I am punching out at her or putting a gun to her head lol. But generally, a very nice companion. She found a health pack for me and threw it to me when I were about to die. That girl is amazing. ^_^

Hehe that sounds awesome!,I read that her AI was fantastic.

I remember you hyping me up during the Uncharted 1 days. :)

reminds me of Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite.

Can anyone speak to this post on reddit?

Here is the issue. Let me start off by saying that the game is amazing, but after reading all of these reviews I am becoming more and more frustrated because the people giving this game a 10/10 have over looked something extremely important.

The amazing "next gen" AI that Naughty Dog have been advertising
can be seen in how the enemy reacts to the rest of his friends getting killed in this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qguDnY0C_Sg#t=721s[1]
Another example is how human these guys act in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbLOokeC3VU[2]

So what is my problem you might ask? This crazy human like AI is almost non existent in the actual game. The AI is virtually no different than Uncharted. The guys will just run at you with their bare fists even if you are pointing a shotgun in their face.

Spoiler tagged out of an abundance of caution. No actual story spoilers here or in the link.

Me: Oh boy...

My wife: We should get The Last Of Us.

Me: I...I was thinking that too.

I had a convo about the game as well:

Me: I don't want to pay full price for a console game.

Me: Might be worth it though.

Me: Fuck off. What do you know.

Me: Don't then. Nobody is forcing you.

Me: I'll probably get it.

Come on. This is just silly. Like that one Polygon review is going to be a major influence on anyone's purchase.

Use your head. IGN reaches far more people than Poly, and has more ads than Poly. If we're going to start making unwarranted accusations of being paid off, IGN would be the most likely site to be guilty.

But nope, it must be the much smaller site, because they have an opinion you don't like. Great business move on Microsoft's part, really.

It's one thing to be hyped, and it's another thing to lose all your critical thinking skills.
