I agree, a villain would be great. Here's something I suggested in the FE:A thread:

I'd love it if Gangrel made it in, actually. It'd provide a boost to Smash's rather lacking rogue's gallery, while at the same time letting another class tree besides Lord have its time in the sun. Plus the dual melee/ranged functionality of his signature Levin Sword would make for some neat moves, and he has so many quotes that could be perfect as taunts (can you imagine him doing an exaggerated shrug a là his official art while quipping "I could break you as easily as I could break wind"?).

Knowing tradition though we'll probably get either Chrom or Lucy though (which isn't a bad thing in the slightest), or possibly the Avatar if the rumours abot customization turn out to be true.

The Black Knight would also make for a pretty cool villain choice.
 
If we have an FE villain can we pretty, pretty please make it Julius under the control of Loptyr? Or alternatively Alvis. :3 And then throw Celice in too. And Levin. Plus Sigurd. And Ira.

In fact, can we just have an FE4 fighter plx?

I can see Ike being replaced from someone from Awakening since it's the newest one, though Marth might stay due to being the more popular FE character, plus he was already in 2 SSB games.

Speaking of which, I haven't keeping up with Pokemon since Silver/Gold. I'm sure Lucario might get replaced with a Pokemon from the latest gen (X/Y). Think it might be that new Mewtwo form or whatever?

Difficult to say - we don't know what the "mascot" of this generation is yet. I mean, if we say the generation mascot is one who is a) revealed early and b) usually stars as the main "new" Pokemon of a movie or major anime storyline at some point, then Gen 1 has Pikachu, Gen 2... doesn't really have one (Pichu or Marill, maybe?), Gen 3 had Blaziken, Gen 4 was Lucario, Gen 6 was Zoroark - and none of those are legendaries, so it'd be a new precedent for a Mewtwo forme to be the generation mascot.
 
don't hate me GAF but I thought the Brawl intro was way weaker than Melee's. Music is epic and all but that perfectly synched music, man, it still gives me chills to this day and I'd want S4 to feature a similar one

Marth ain't going anywhere. Never mind that he's the original hero and the series' most well known character;

he at the very least isn't going anywhere based on this:

Yeah, Brawl's intro sucks. It's just a bunch of scenes from the SSE. I remember being really disappointed when they finally showed it.

I doubt it. I think it will be more likely with Takamaru since Little Mac just had sequel for Wii.

Even if Takamaru makes it to Smash, I don't think he'll appear in the initial trailer. He's Dojo or unlockable character material. I don't think his revival is big enough to be part of the game's initial worldwide reveal.

A Fire Emblem Awakening character calls itself "Marth" for a while, and was promoted as the actual "Marth" in pre-release promo material. In game, though, as soon as the character is introduced, people go "Ah, named after the legendary Hero King from ages ago?", and that happens near the beginning, so "Marth" not being Marth isn't really a spoiler.

After FE:A , I don't think he is safe.. We will see..

I really don't see this logic.

Fire Emblem Game comes out that doesn't feature Marth or anything related to his games -> Marth stays in Smash, his Falchion still is the emblem of the franchise in Smash.

Fire Emblem Game comes out where Marth is a legendary figure that influenced some characters and appears in DLC maps and as a bonus character -> Marth is getting kicked out of Smash this time for sure!

Well, Melee had a CG made just for the intro, while Brawl just used random story mode scenes and some gameplay footage. So, yes, Melee's intro synchronized much better with the bgm.
 
I don't think Ike will be replaced. Character removal in Brawl was met with a pretty negative reaction after all. Plus, he was a main character in two home console FE's, making him a pretty major character in the series.

I hope his new character model will be similar to his appearance in RD (I.e. very muscular), further differentiating him from Marth and justifying his "heavy" play style.

Chrom and "Marth" should be just alternative skins for Marth, considering how similar they all are. If there's going to be character from Awakening, it should be Anna IMO. She's appeared in every FE game after all (sans Gaiden), making her the nearest thing to a series mascot, along with Marth.

If anything, Chrom is more similar to Ike than Marth or "Marth". Chrom and Ike both have lower STR and SPD than Marth in return for equal or better HP and higher DEF, whereas "Marth" is literally just a slightly weaker Marth in every respect.

I honestly don't know if FE in game stats are the best way to judge who's getting in.

Oh, I wasn't saying that. I was just arguing that if extra Fire Emblem characters were added by having "alts", then it's more likely that Ike and Chrom would be alts than Marth and Chrom.

I don't think this should be a question. If everyone wants more of the same I would assume Zelda is only getting a graphical upscale and nothing will change.

Which goes back into how I would like things to change in regards to moveset. Or at the very least diversify it a little. But more options for attack and unpredictability is bad.
