Multiple people from Sony the last few days have made sly remarks against always online/drm, which if Sony were going to do, these people would not be tweeting these remarks.

Lets wait until we get something concrete. I believe Sony will have some. Hopefully it's just the same as it is now. Seriously NOTHING can get as restrictive as MS is going right now.

Would Devil May Cry 3 count?

I still can't believe some of you guys are paranoid about Sony following MS in the abyss.

Would Yoshida tweet this hilarious troll if Sony were going to screw over consumers?

RE4 is by far the best RE game and a top 5 game of all time. The old RE games were excellent as well. Both styles are great. RE5 was a fantastic action game. RE6 was a mess but fun.

Being scary is not the determining factor if a game is good or not.

To me, it is the determining factor of a good Resident Evil game, just as utilization of stealth makes part of what makes a great Metal Gear Solid game, for example. I come to different games for different things.

I'm not saying that should be the measuring stick for all people, but to me Resident Evil 4 is an amazing game, but not that scary. Resident Evil 5 is a pretty decent game, but not scary at all. Resident Evil 6 is a mess and not scary at all. I will say I haven't played through RE 6 all the way through though, so maybe I missed something later on. From what I played though, it wasn't that great.

Not to mention I personally don't want an action game from that series though. I can get action from a dozen or so different games that just do it better than the newer Resident Evil games.

EDIT: To me, Code Veronica is the best game, followed by REmake.

I think Sony and MS are going to compete on even terms when it comes to DRM. After thinking about it Sony really don't have any reason to not do what the big pubs and MS are doing.
Freaking sucks I know, I can't see it going down any other way.

Not even terms even if it were to happen. There is nothing similar to the 24 hour drm for ps4.

They have a great reason to not do it as well, though.

You know, I was doing a bit of research on the PS3 launch and believe it or not, in the first 12 months of being on the market, the PS3 also had 14 exclusives made by SCE.

Interesting to think about as the common perception was the PS3 "had no games"

So speculation time, do you think Sony will talk up the amount of exclusive titles in the launch year or just sidestep the whole issue?

I'm really trying to get excited for the pre-E3 Sony conference, but I can't. I have yet to see a single exciting E3 conference from Sony...
Even when they have the content, they somehow manage to screw the presentation and the whole arrangement of the announcements : Focusing on demos nobody cares about, talking too much for no reason other than to fight silence...
Not getting my hopes up.
Regardless, the software side from all constructors and publishers over the next week should be amazing.

If Sony is smart they wont. I seriously can't think of a more "handed on a silver platter" opportunity in the history of video games. Sony can walk on stage, announce no DRM, they win E3, the hearts of millions, and the console generation right there. They wouldn't even have to show any games after that.

Sony will do that, they have the opportunity to be the number 1 console leader this gen with Wii U being a big flop and Xboned being flop similar to the PS3. If I could guess how the market will look like in 5 years I see Sony having 90 million units compared to MS 40 million and Wii U 20 million. So yeah they will never screw this one up

1 Day to go! 1 day until our jaws drop! ULTROS! will be substituting bigboss370 for this so enjoy!

What is your favorite PlayStation game or IP?

You can only pick one.

Damn you Activision.

Sony would screw themselves in Japan if they introduce system level DRM.

Exactly. Europe and Japan automatically throws a monkey wrench into any plan of that nature because it's almost illegal. The way MS is doing this just lets us know that MS is planning on trying to take the US and UK for themselves and screw everyone else.

I like how everyone's just assuming the shape of the object underneath the sheet is going to be the actual shape of the console. Misdirection in viral media is fun, and I wouldn't put it past Sony.

Yeah, if they did that they should do it along with the console unveiling early on in the conference. Let people know that there won't be a catch coming for them and let them get excited about games. If they really want this to go well and through even more shit onto the MS PR pile, no DRM and a decent price would be killer.

Devil May Cry

R.I.P. Uncle Dante

I preferred the 360 controller for DMC4, Style change and all.

Also, Sony lost a big exclusive for me with that game . I was putting money down for a PS3, even as a broke student, just for that game.

Honestly, the only reason I got my first PS3 was I got an unexpected windfall and didnt know what to spend it on. Otherwise I could of been 360 only this generation.

Not to get too off-topic here, but is DmC bad? Seems like the most divisive game I've seen in quite some time.

I enjoyed the old games, but I was never like a master of the combat if that changes anything.

No reason not to do it? Kind of like having no reason not to walk away and ignore a giant chest of gold some crazy man left on his front porch after saying, "go on, take it, I don't want it anymore."

Confusing wordplay aside, the point is, this is a golden opportunity for Sony to scoop up all the burned Xbox fans and stand in the most positive light going into next gen. Microsoft has been getting so much bad press about their policies, even from the mainstream media. Sony would be crazy to follow suit, unless somehow they've been magically moneyhatted by Microsoft.

I only got into the series last year with the HD Collection but I liked DmC a lot. Not DMC3 great but the combat was fun and the environments were very unique and had great art deign. New Dante is also far more likeable and laid back than trailers would lead you to believe.

I think they learned from the PS3 and Vita, so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say they are going to spread the releases evenly throughout the year. They'll talk about how many exclusives they have overall.

Play it as a action game divorced from everything, you will like it. You wont be playing it in a years time, but its enjoyable enough.

Play it like a DMC game and you will grow to hate what it means for the franchise, even if you still find it somewhat enjoyable.

Ive gone from being one of the biggest DMC fanboys, to not really caring about the franchise anymore, just based on that one game.

Interesting, I'll give it a try when it comes down in price then sometime later this year. It's a shame that it's turned you off the series completely though, ThoughtsOfSpeaking. Especially when you're a fan of something for so long.

sony has a golden opportunity to make the ps4 be wildly successful this coming generation with the wii u being a total non-starter and relegated to secondary console status even if they fix everything and the xbone being this maelstrom of draconian corporate focus-grouped horseshit that nobody really likes.

after getting their ass kicked around with the ps3, this should be a fucking gimme. people are eager for a no-bullshit console with decent power, and a decent price that works just like things have always worked. if sony can't enlighten themselves to this ridiculously blatant observation and still resort to some asshole bullshit then fuck em, plain and simple.

Volume doesn't count for much. There was nothing that captured the interest of gamers at large; at least not enough to justify the price tag. It's the same reason I'm skeptical of MS's "15 exclusives in the first year." Another case worth examining is the Vita. It had one of the best launch libraries I've ever seen, but it didn't move units because nearly everything was ports or near equivalents to software most gamers could find elsewhere.

I think Sony realizes by now that it's not the volume of exclusives but the ability of the software (and hardware) to generate interest that matters. But numbers are easy to make sound impressive, and it would be a nice piece of ammunition for forum console warriors if Jack Tretton announces off-hand a number that trumps MS's 15. Or better yet, actual titles for them.

All I wonder is how the market will look if PS4 has 70-80% market share...

Microsoft outlining their bullshit policies before E3 was the biggest freebie they could have given Sony. The immense backlash is way bigger than I bet anyone ever thought it would be. Just seeing that is something I would want to avoid if I was in charge, not to mention it would allow them to make the XBO look even worse in comparison.

If you're the type of gamer who never cares about diving deep into understanding how much the system offers, then it won't ever make a difference; you'll probably still enjoy it as a generic action game. All you need to see are these:
