There's so little announced software. It's just not coming back. Look at how the 3ds is doing and that's with no western support. It's just not a device with a market.

I HATE this reality but it's true. Sony should just focus on PS4. It is more important to them.

I agree that they should, but i think that if they can get the word out to the common people of the special features that the PS4/Vita combo can do then i can see it making a comeback. Hell if they bundle it with the PS4 as the Premium version bundle can have a chart explaining the benifits at retail stores to basically inform the customers then it can become desirable to more people.

I am less bothered by the DRM situation, I am just glad PS4 is not always online. And glad the PSEye isn;t integral to the experience.

AW COME ON!!

If it doesn't require an internet connection, we're good to go. I can't think of any way for Sony to screw up if they don't require one. I don't know how DRM would work without an internet connection. Any ideas?

I wouldn't mind if Sony had DRM, but it was infinitely transferable. Like if it was a unique RFID in the disc (So you'd need the disc in the drive) or something so it didn't need online and didn't effect used games or loaning the disc to friends.

Lets hope aegies is talking about something else, though.

They give us a price and release date at E3, right?

Some people said they won't, I find this hard to believe...

They gave us a price and release date for the PS3 at E3 2006, and IIRC we also got the price and release date of the Vita at E3 2011.

So I also find it hard to believe that we won't be getting either tomorrow.

Yes, but what kind of DRM is that? Sounds like just how it is now lol.

Again, people keep thinking Sony has no money.
No, I realize that they have lots of money to spend, but I don't think Sony wants to risk losing lots of revenue (even if that risk is quite small).

Third parties won't risk alienating a console that could sell itself on first-party titles alone.
I agree with you, but again, I don't think Sony wants to take the risk. I hope I'm wrong, though, and Sony stands up and says: "We're gonna do it our way, publishers. We can either fight each other, or work together."

online requirement is not in.

I know, but if something like used game DRM stuff is still in, then I will not buy a PS4. They could announce shenmue 3 and final fantasy 7 remake and I couldn't be swayed to purchase one over that stuff.

Though I wouldn't care if activision/ubi still did online passes because.... Really the games that do those aren't even worth playing. And I can still play those games offline anyways.

The advantage to going after Microsoft is that they can adapt to what Microsoft does to a point.
If Microsoft does, they can.
Though then it becomes a game because if Sony blinks first, Microsoft will react with their price at Gamecom or whatever the next event is.
So indeed it is a matter of who blinks first.
But I do expect a release date because retailers need it, as do devs.

That's actually what their DRM was thought to be until they started to back off on it. No idea if anything's changed since mortimer mentioned it.

It was some sort of RFID tag-type deal but it was REALLY complicated since it would track the systems it was in and charge a certain amount based on how many activations it had or yadda yadda...

From the Bungie FB page

oh and if vita is a failure then I don't know what to call the PS3. It lost more money for the company than vita ever will. As long as they can make a profitable venture out of it they SHOULD support it. It's also about consumer trust. If sony can't support a piece of hardware they themselves put out, this short into the life cycle of it, they might as well drop hardware manufacturing and go third party. I for one would be extremely annoyed if they don't give vita attention at E3. Primary focus should be on the ps4, without a doubt. But if they don't even give 15-20 mins of 'good' coverage/support to the handheld, I won't be buying a ps4 for a long time to come.

I dont actually trust/believe Gies, but I dont like these tweets at all, especially the second one:

We will see though.

Also... This could have to do with any of the 3rd party conferences. Maybe the game price hike?

I have never had any problem boycotting EA. Not one game from them have I NEEDED this generation. Not a single one.

Mirror's Edge I would have missed, but who gives a crap.

Hardware Predictions
1) Single or multiple SKUs? Multiple
2) User replaceable non proprietary HDD? Yes
3) Camera included in all SKUs? No
4) USB port on the front? No (or at least hidden)
5) DS4 D-Pad changed to match the Vita? No
6) Top load or slot load disk drive? Slot
7) Integrated PSU? No
8) Blue LED somewhere on the console? Yes

If it ends up being the same as Microsoft's, and it does need to make an internet connection, even once, then I'll end up being more pissed at Sony. I hate being straight out lied to.

Think happy thought, think happy thoughts...

Its funny, if that ends up happening, people might actually end up being even more mad at Sony than Microsoft, because regardless of when they made this decision to do this, we would still think "Man they had this E3 and this entire gen in their hands and they just threw it away".

Their silence can be taken either way, either they have allowed MS to get all the crap and bad press while they sit there and let it all simmer and eventually cool off, or they are not doing this and instead of just announcing it on PS Blog or some interview they thought "E3 is close, why not just do it on stage in front of millions?" aka free advertising for their console, it cost them nothing and created tons of goodwill. However if Sony was in on this all along, then the smartest thing to do would have been to just announce right after the Xbox One reveal, and fly under the radar that way. Yet they did not, they knew the entire world would be looking at them 10 june for these answers, they know this

What gives me faith is that they are a Japanese company, and as such they cannot possible hope to pull this off even if they wanted in their own home market. But hey stranger things have happened, especially in this industry where crazy stuff just tends to happen.

So far, without any bias, Sony has really been perfect, everything is going their way with the PS4, either that means that they get it, or that karma will eventually catch up and they will mess it all up tomorrow.

Sony's history would suggest that we almost definitely will get a price tomorrow.

In honesty, I think the announcement of a price tomorrow depends entirely on whether or not Microsoft announces theirs first.

If MS announces a price tomorrow, Sony will follow suit and try to undercut them if they can. If Microsoft doesn't, Sony probably won't unless their price is really low. The last thing Sony wants is for Microsoft to "$299" them in the middle of all this chaos. Momentum can shift very quickly.

I'm still hoping for $350 - I think it's a long shot, but if Sony announces at that price point and with no DRM, it would be really, really hard to justify NOT buying one.

How come?

he could be referencing the fact both studios will have exclusives to make the other side weep

Odd question, but does Sony stream conferences using Ustream or flash? I only ask because my only ways to watch Sony's (and Ubisoft's) conferences don't have flash support. (and spike isn't showing those specific conferences.)

Sony has a Ustream
