If Sony zigs on the DRM issue while MS zags, it seems like they could destroy the X1 straight out of the gate. Of course MS has the money to brute force some popularity, and maybe most people just don't care about DRM.
If Sony follows suit on DRM, console gaming is terrible.
I have no idea what to predict at this point.

I remember the (I believe) 1Up podcast and websites talking about how MS didn't have anything on the level of Assassins Creed when it was first shown at E3 and there was literally nobody willing to say it was coming to 360. Now I don't know if Sony had anything to do with that but I can't imagine why Ubi wouldn't want the extra coverage from admitting to a 360 version. So in short, if a deal is on the table they would have to abide by the rules of the deal.
It should be obvious that these huge publishers would be for anything that would be potentially more profitable for them.
