CBOAT'S MS rumors actually make me think that Sony has a lot of really good stuff to show tomorrow. The fact that they'd pay to shut developers up about the PS4 version for a period of time suggests that something has made them very nervous.

Or they are just being very aggressive. Kind of like that guy who said that they are going to kill Sony at E3.

Press & public reaction has made them nervous, not Sony secretz.

Or that Microsoft simply doesn't have much exclusive content to show themselves, so they are going to fill their conference with third party reveals.

This is how they've always done things, they just never made any deals with publishers to explicitly avoid any talks of competitor versions at E3...that's certainly a shady tactic.

Which is consistant with rumors that MS were 6 month behind. they just don't seems ready

I dont know it might also suggest MS didn't really have much to show since a rumor that they are behind in development.

Developers area probably already alerted by their own execs to not talk about PS4.

Already happened at the GDC this year. Neither DICE or Crytek would mention PS4. I mean really, the interviewer asked this literal question: "Can you even say the word PS4?", the DICE dev simply stared at him.

:lol that is hilarious.

CBOAT just put me even further on the Sony train. They'll have to massively fuck up to lose my support now.

I guess we'll know for sure by this time tomorrow!

Evil is pretty subjective. It's not only up to Microsoft, there are seemingly companies willing to sell out and support this type of thinking. Takes two to tango and some of these companies will have a hard time getting support from people like us. But not sure we're the avid consumers for Microsoft's next platform anyway so not sure what kind of impact that'll have.

Believe me, nobody knows this better than me. Microsoft's been doing stuff like this for 25 years, even long before they got into gaming. I call it evil because strategies like this were the same kind of thing that fucked up my family life back in the '90s.

I really hope the mainstream consumer isn't swayed by Microsoft's flashy marketing tactics. An industry with Microsoft at the top of the heap is not a healthy industry at all. I'm really hoping Nintendo and Sony bring the megatons this week. I'm actually growing increasingly tempted to buy a Wii U in addition to a PS4 just as solidarity AGAINST this kind of strategy.

i think it's that microsoft have a massive uphill battle. sony has established the ps4 effectively as a gamers box whereas the perception is that the xbone is a tv device first. they're scrambling hard to fight that.

To be fair MS botched their reveal and they heard the reaction. That alone has them scared. Not to mention a move like this makes you seem less confident in your own software output.

Tomorrow I do hope Sony can deliver. It would really seal the deal. Hopefully we get price and launch date. I'm hoping for that $350. I'd go out the next day and preorder.

If the actually had 20 games on the floor for demonstrations that would be 4.5 minutes per game. Perhaps there will be a seperate trailer for each game but I don't know exactly how they will pull this off.

Oh yeah. There is that as well. :P

Yeah, you must be right. Overthinking it and can't see the forest for the trees. ;)

At this point I thin MS is going to have a much better showing and hang their Xbone on lots of exclusives but it doesn't make me nervous. There's no chance of me buying a One so whatever. I do think it's going to create a huge shitstorm for the next 6 months on here.

Microsoft used that word a lot this last gen to mean timed exclusive, so that's not the only thing to watch for. It will basically take media asking the developers to confirm its only to coming to Xbone.

They will simply say they are not ready to talk about other systems right now...

Yeah, a significant performance gap and fucking Digital Foundry.

gotta love CBoat posts lol

I went to both conf threads.

Sony conf threads are like YAY CBoat posts
MS conf threads are like NO CBoat posts, get it out of here.

Dunno. The fact that Sony has been quiet on the DRM topic to date pretty much makes me think they are gonna have an equal system or maybe something that's 90% as crappy. They would of spoken by now if they weren't going with a similar approach.

How would they if it was Microsoft who started this and approached the publishers and not the other way around. So think about that.

It's like someone can make a point and click adventure game of this whole escapade. There's quite an awesome storyline going on with back hand dealings, government overlords(PRISM), or the unknowns of the little guy working through corporate greed. The last decision of the ending outcome: No Freedom vs Freedom.
