The used game trade ins will only happen at Gamestop and Wal Mart

How about only Gamestop, being the only one able to fit whatever scanning/coding system necessary to deauthorize discs. And then on top of that only publishers that opt into the trade in program (remember the PSP Umd "trade ins" for the Vita anyone?". And then with the new cuts that are taken for publishers and devs the max TiV for that month old Assassins Creed game is $10.

This puts EA's E3 line-up at:

-Titanfall
-Mirror's Edge 2
-Dragon Age 3
-Battlefield 4
-Plants vs. Zombies 2
-Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
-Need For Speed: Rivals
-Command & Conquer
-Star Wars Plans
-The Sims 4
-Madden
-FIFA
-UFC
-NBA

This is probably better than anything they've had in quite some time.

They had me with FIFA and The Sims 4, but unfortunately they killed both by being greedy assholes.

Maybe the Star Wars game could be cool, otherwise nothing of interest for me.

There's no way they'd ban you from buying games just because you've been banned from online play. Why would they want to stop you from giving them more money?

Microsoft is doing evil things to make money. They aren't doing evil things for the sake of evil.

Is your word on PS4 DRM still that Sony backed away from it?

I have no idea. The last I heard anything about sony was before I inadvertently started a rather noisy movement. Not that I regret that - it's been awesome and hopefully does some good... but I have not heard *anything* about DRM inside of sony since then. That leaky boat got plugged up quick.

I'm feeling optimistic. That doesn't really mean anything though.

I don't see how Microsoft or any company can get away with this legally. How do you sell a customer physical media that is effectively useless unless the seller allows you to use it? Does Microsoft just search for ways to get sued now!?

Surely the last one will be obvious. Banned from Live means no authentucation means no access to your games. Rememer, MS is just granting you permission to play the games you've paid for. Permission they can revoke whenever they want e.g. You've been naughty.

Yeah, not going to be pretty.

Ways for DRM to get worse.......

My guess is that these companies reserve the right to shut down servers for those games at anytime. Thus the guy that posted that iOS Rockband image I think is spot on.
Microsoft: "Games are no longer a product. They're a service."

When you guys are saying ME2 isn't exclusive, are you saying that it will be on PS4, or PC? I've heard several rumors saying it's on PC and XB1, so I just want to be sure.

The most infuriating fact (if true), is that MS designed this and went to the publishers. And not the other way around.

On the positive side, it gives me some hope now that Sony won't do this, since it is not publisher enforced. Gets them more bargaining power.

Day one xbox one average consumers will be screwed though once they encounter all these retarded policies.

I always figured MS had to be behind this. If the Publishers were really the only ones pushing this, why would any of the major systems say yes? They would, either to I. get favor with the publishers. II. To make money too from the second hand market.

Why people kept excusing MS for doing this is beyond me. They always seemed way too eager about it (plus the designs in the system around DRM said it all).

I see it as either the employees are happy with the direction Sony is headed and they want it to go over extremely well or they're extremely frightened and don't want to make a peep

I've been saying since January that Sony/Microsoft might fudge their reveals, but I was talking about an overly long Kinect stage demo or a bad celebrity presenter. This mess is so much worse than I ever expected.

I expect both tomorrow, don't put your guard down

Not Xbone exclusive

I'm hoping they're just waiting for their moment to drop a bomb. In a good way, that is.

Right? As the Xbox One DRM rumors become more frequent and more detailed, the situation sounded more and more suspect. Then the actual console reveal and PR happened, and it was even worse than we anticipated. It's still kind of hard to wrap my head around. I hope MS struggles due to this shit.

The fact that MS is paying 3rd party developers to shut up about their multi-platform games on PS4.

It's such a stupid fucking thing, too. Anybody who is watching E3 press conferences is likely to be informed enough to know that those titles are going to be multiplatform unless they're explicitly called exclusive.

Microsoft moneyhatting silence just comes off as desperate and sad.

Phil Spencer = Xbox

I can see why people would make a mistake on that tho...I mean his work is really helping sony out lol

These truthfacts give me sadtears.

How can the DRM be any worse than it already is?

At this point...I'm not surprised by anything MS does tbh

One important thing to note here

Famormortimer talked about the pubs being approached by MS to not show PS4 versions of their games.
J Harker said MS made the DRM and then they approached the publishers and not the other way around

Props to those two as well

I swear at this point the only thing they are missing is increasing the XBL price..... -_-

Wow, amazing thread to wake up to. The fact that it was Microsoft who actively pushed all this disgusting DRM is quite a shocking revelation and speaks volumes. Their gaming division will not be getting any more of my money. Hopefully whatever exclusives they manage to tie up still get a PC release, or end up being 1 year exclusives.

It's up. I'm expecting it, but at this point it's piling on to what's already happened.

Yep, pretty much. I slept through the reveal and my last tweet was 'Tomorrow, I wake up to hell.' I was joking, or just expecting heated discussions about exclusives/features/graphics. I wasn't expecting to actually wake up in the darkest fucking timeline.

Don't forget lady wood.

This year it'll be Lady Boner, for the lolz.

I hope someone is doing a good job of archiving all of the blowouts that have been happening since the reveal. These past few weeks, no, this whole year is going to go down as one of the craziest moments in gaming. We have now reached the point where this mess is completely indefensible.

ONE's DRM is worse than we know and even the great buttocks can't find out Sony's deal. Interesting.

"youre bitter tearzr are my bidet" wow lmao

My most anticipated piece of information from E3 is how Microsoft's DRM plans can get worse.

Fuck the games, this is so unfathomable that I absolutely need to know.

I think what makes this so sad is that the mass market may very well just look at DRM as one of those things that comes with time and the way things change, and they'll eat the Xbone up.

Please don't do that mass market. Please.

Wait, the DRM news from MS is to get even worse . . . what . . . I mean . . . how? I mean . . . just unbelievable, how possibly?

I suppose it's possible that the system "only" requires a check in every 24 hours but perhaps publishers can require an always online connection if they choose.

I see it as either the employees are happy with the direction Sony is headed and they want it to go over extremely well or they're extremely frightened and don't want to make a peep

There are an a lot of signs that we are going to get good news.

1. Yoshida making the joke about DRM (vita game) on Twitter. He isn't dumb... that would be pretty shitty if they were planning on delivering bad news.

2. OMGWTFBBQ's leak that EA is giving MS exclusives (games and DLC) because MS were pushing DRM and sony wouldn't commit to it (this was during the winter, if I understood OMG's post correctly)

3. Having not committed to it publically they've been able to watch all the feedback against MS - and then our protest - and then even more feedback against MS after they put up the website explaining it better. Can they really see all of that and think it's a good business decision?

Common sense is telling me that the PS4 will have little to no new DRM over the ps3. But, of course, Sony hasn't always been known for having common sense...

The DRM stuff is so disappointing. I might end up skipping the One unless they have a massive megaton for launch. That said, Somy's continued evasiveness regarding DRM is very troubling. I hope reporters ask direct questions to their executives to try and glean what their strategy will be.
