Loved the art direction with VIII, love the art direction here.

There is definite shades of FFVIII's art direction and world design here. FFVIII had many locales whose inspiration was taken from real world places (many in Europe), and FFXV is definitely following that route too. The city in the trailer from yesterday evoked strong Venetian influence.

So much style. This game looks different from everything else on the market.

Love how much the gameplay matches the action from the reveal trailer years back.

Oh yeah, just remembered there's a part of the trailer (when the character's mugshots flash by) that's directly inspired by some of the shaky-cam shots of the FFVIII intro

This game looks absolutely incredible.. Why would I want another ff13 with lighting? It's time to give nomura a chance. I have a feeling he won't dissapoint.

Looks impressive. Not sure how it actually PLAYS since it seems like they ditched the KH-style menus in favor of I have no idea what, but it's clearly a very ambitious game.

Hopefully Square will release a straight-up walkthrough video explaining the combat system for those of us who can't test it out in person.

They didn't ditch the combat menus. Look at the bar in the corner.

It appears as if Noctis has some sort of weapon roulette down at the bottom left. His weapons keep changing during combat, and the roulette keeps moving.

Looks freaking great! I love the teleportation and the fast weapon changes. Love the party interaction.

My hype just increased even more. I want this game now!!! Fall 2014 believe!!

might be missed out but the weapon equip has been changed
it's more like dark/demon souls style (except you have a wide range of weapons) rather than traditional ff way.

I stubbornly have not been letting myself get excited for Versus/XV because I still believe in LR delivering something special for my XIII-stained heart...

But this video... Sold.

It has cities.

Definitely.

God damn that gameplay looks spectacular. The teleporting around looks like such a fucking fun mechanic when it's that dynamic. Some of those group attacks were glorious too.

Need gif of them throwing that giant pillar into the boss than blowing it up, unless it's already in the thread, will look.

Edit: found it lol

I'm expecting a late 2014 or early 2015 for the release of this game, the wait will be agonizing, but hey we finally have more information revealed on this game in the past days than we have ever gotten!

But since XV isn't exclusive, I wonder why the information Thuway and Verendus was wrong.

Wow! Looks amazing!

I really hope there's tons of classic FF exploration. I'm definitely loving the setting - so good to see them moving away from the fantasy theme of FFXIII and FFX.

I'd rather the character designs showcase restraint than the shit that was patchworked together in XIII. We've lost the context here, it could be so much worse.

Should have shown more of this footage during the conference. I don't want to get hyped for this because it will still take forever to be released...but im getting hyped.

When the Final Fantasy franchise abandons turn based combat, you truly know JRPG's are on their way out.

I wish someone new would fill the void this leaves.

I hope they'll fine tune the recreated trailer gameplay, looks a bit odd.
And the gravity needs to be tuned. Noctis and the car, hurled into the air by the behemoth, fall WAY to slow.

You mean, like 12 years ago..? :X

But yeah, I want a good old tunr based rpg with world maps and all the good stuff as well.

It looked very impressive. Incredibly kinetic combat. lots of movement and all very quick.

If they can offer some level of freedom with some side quests (not asking for Elder Scrolls here) and have story/dialog that doesn't make me want to rip my hair out, I'm totally in.

They're not abandoning it. This never was even intended to be XV. Nomura actually initially set out to make a version of FF that didn't fit the mold. But XIII ended up going so far off course that his vision is now what's been put in place to right the ship. But Hashimoto has already said that FF will continue to have various systems.

I saw the little words down there, but in the gameplay footage it doesn't look like those were being used. I figured those were more like cooldown bars for Noctis' special powers than anything else.

Arranging them horizontally instead of vertically just makes it look and feel less like a KH game, I guess.

Real-time weapon change! But truly, the gameplay looked remarkably deep. Maybe I'm being fooled by scripted action sequences, but if not then I'm very happily surprised.

edit: alright, mostly scripted, and "remarkably deep" was an overstatement.

Was really surprised to see Nomura in an interview, he's usually a ghost and never in the public eye.

Wish we could have seen a small clip from the Stella party scene. Want to see her new look in detail.

Hope they don't go radio silent on the game now, hoping for continual updates.

Looks fucking amazing, draw dropping actually. Still on guard though, feels like I'll be let down in one way or another( especially if Square still has the same writers in place) if I get my hopes up for this game, but optimism slowly rising...

I don't even care that this is called 15. I have long stopped caring about that after they started numbering the MMOs. Especially considering the circumstances around this one, I think it's safe to say 16 will be some form of turn based combat again.

I think the combat menue was used, the words flash everytime noctis attacks and teleports.

It's so nice to actually be excited about a JRPG again. It's been a long time since I've even played one but they used to be my favorite genre.
