Inspired by 3D Land?
I didn't ask for this.
I don't think anyone asked for 3DS games on a home console :-/

Graphics and all.
Graphics and all.
These posts are ridiculous.
thats called horse shit to save face for the team and Nintendo.
Nintendo is just as bad as EA and Activision. Iwata found a cheap formula to pump these mario games out every year now and there gonna stick to that.
This is so much more ambitious than Galaxy 3, Sunshine 2, or 128 (as much as I would still welcome that. I still hope it comes later this gen).

Release date?
I hope there's online co-op!![]()
Great post. This pretty much echoes my feelings exactly.Well ok.
When I first saw the game, I cannot express how disappointed I felt. A sequel to 3D Land as a mainline, console Mario? What the hell? It seemed lazy, uninspired and so conservative. I still feel that way.
But a few considerations.
Obviously, local co-op is the big addition here. I have never played a 3D platformer with co-op. It sounds pretty cool, and the 3D land style is definitely suited to it. think about Galaxy with four players. It wouldn't work. The camera would not be able to keep up. So in that sense, the 3D land style of Mario is a smart idea here.
Also, the game is most certainly goes further than the 3DS game did. Its prettier, for one. And it has original boss fights, for two. It might also have worlds that are more defined visually, compared to the 3DS game. So thats cool.
Look, I'm still dissapointed. How could I not be? But I loved 3D Land. And though i hope to god we get a big, epic, creative Mario adventure, this was probably easier (And faster) to pump out, and I'm sure I'll have fun with it.
With friends.
Man this looks like hot garbage. Just looks boring. More garbage multiplayer in a Super Mario game instead of the challenging platforming we want.
December in the US.
Already confirmed local only![]()
Um....there's much more going on in the second shot than first(which is just a skeleton). You're getting to generic comparisons that could apply for ANY 3D platformer since Mario 64 lol. Mario has came along a good ways than the N64 daysI don't know man, this is Nintendo's laziest copy and paste job yet.

Wow....really. *small rant incoming* Despite the fact that every 3d Mario has outsold DKCR and 3d Mario is something truly different vs the 2d platformer they launched with last year they are going to put DKCR in the Black Friday position of selling the console to people when they have their two competitors launching around then? DKCR would make so much more sense in December. Hell it would make so much more sense in Q1 while Mario Kart was rushed for the holidays
I like a lot of the stage layout type stuff Im seeing here, but it would be nice to see slightly less linearity in other stages http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsYY0KtfgRM

overall it's just this disappointing thing, but i suppose that's what i should expect from ead tokyo.
so my impressions after today
i was able to play three levels. the first was 2-6 or something. some guy had a gamepad and i had a wii remote. i don't know if you can play with a nunchuck, but none were available for multiplayer at the demo. controlling a character in 3d space with a d-padkindablows. the game will automatically bubble you if you fall behind the leader, rendering multiplayer largely useless. however, the levels are designed in a way to accommodate four people. there's not much in the way of speed or spectacle from what i played.
however i will say the cat suit is a pretty neat addition. it makes the game easier, but it's more like knuckles in 3d and makes me wonder if a mario/sonic crossover truly would work out well.
the last level i played, we had to all steer and jump on this thing floating down a riverbed. it was a lot like a mario party minigame.

Isn't Galaxy 2 one of your favorite games? I remember you raving about it back in the OT.
