Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Man, on the one hand I hope we get regular Dojo updates so I can hype like I've never hyped before(since 2006?), but on the other hand I also want there to be surprises for when I get the game myself.

I don't think it really matters either way, I dissect the shit out of every single game before I buy it.

I was trying to avoid all details of Brawl before it came out, I never visited the dojo, yet I knew about everything except Toon Link.

Safe to say everything about the characters at least will be all over the net before this game comes out.

I'm confident both versions will have the same roster. A lot of work goes into a single character (especially in Smash Bros.) -- creating console exclusives would be a complete waste of time and resources. That's probably why Sakurai went with exclusive stages instead. There's something unique for both versions, but it's not nearly as drastic as exclusive characters.
Sakurai confirmed this in the Nintendo direct. All fighters are shared between the versions. Some levels are shared but most are unique.

So around what time do we start getting "day 2 info?"

I'm totally hyped but I wish for 2 more reveals, 2 more SAKURAAAI

Also the Villager fanart is amazing

I am not really sure if people are done talking about chrom and Lucina, but I recall reading a post about having them paired up similar to he ice climbers? Or something in that regard and for some reason I came up with a few concerns and a few moves as well as some other ideas that could make their inclusion interesting
First my concerns: if the two characters are paired up how can they balance their up b since the ice climbers while having a good up b the have gimped moves once the partner dies for a brief moment also if they do use the pair up mechanic will they also incorporate switching? If so how will it effect characters like Kirby?

Now some ideas I came up with if they use the pair up mechanic
I only thought up a few special moves so feel free to laugh at my ideas :p
Side b: would be similar to Marth's however if the partner is active, the partner also attacks but in a different direction similar to the double attacks in awakening for example if u go side b then ure partner will make a forward thrust if u go into he second step and go down b he partner will hit above so on and so on making this move less effective if he partner is out.

Down b: is the double protection where if he partner is active, the active partner blocks the attack and you counter making this once again not as effective when ure partner is out.

Now if they keep them as seperate characters, I was thinking the give chrom or Lucina access to a spear as well or give them the ability to switch weapons since they are the first lords that has access to more than one weapon (correct me if I'm wrong)

Anyway those are just some of my bad ideas
On a side note I really dig WFT and look forward to seeing some more zany characters

They are misinformed. Video mentioned same numbers of characters. Not same characters.

That might also be a slight mistranslation, though. Don't put too much emphasis on that "same number of characters" thing. Especially considering that if anybody were to be made exclusive to the Wii version, it'd be, well, the character with "Wii" in her name. And her characters trailer is in the 3DS video section of the eShop.

But in that video Sakurai also went out of the way to specifically state that the games will have different stages. To me that implies the roster will be the same since he didn't specifically say so like he did with stages. I think it's just a case of over thinking + poor wording. I'm almost positive the two versions will share the same roster.

Interesting choice if that is the case as DKCR for me is more a console game rather than handheld despite the port and Sakurai did say that the 3DS version would have handheld inspired stages. But I suppose the only other recent DK games on the handhelds are the Mario Vs DK series.

But at least it's not another bloody jungle! (You hear that Nocturnowl!)

I don't know, in the trailer Mario leaps out of that cave into a jungle so...yeah.

It's vaguely DK like but it doesn't actually bare any outright DKCR stylings or anything so i'm still unsure about it, considering the brief snippet we see of how it's structured and the camera work it almost seems like an adventure mode stage.

I would say it looks more like a forest than a jungle but I still think you're probably right.

Hey bro, how long have you had that avatar? I got mine almost right after that screenshot came out. Wanna fight about it?
or we can be avatar bros.

Bah ):
I looked around yesterday and saw no one with it, then went to the avatar request thread and asked someone to avatar it for me D:
I'm sorry ;_;

Hey there's always room for more goofy DK avatars.

Yeah, there's that as well, even then it doesn't have any resemblance to DKCR's forest stages either.

Or maybe this is just continuing the trend of Sakurai and his odd approach to the DK series.

Looking at this, and Mario Kart 8, I can't imagine what Nintendo would achieve with more power. These games look optimal, like they were produced by Pixar. Graphically, really impressive.

Mario's mustache may never be dynamically tessellated, but this looks pretty good.

I could barely check GAF at all yesterday because of how amazing the site acts when major events happen, but it looks like the Wii Fit Trainer has haters here too. Smash Bros. is a silly game with silly characters getting in silly fights. I will play as the Wii Fit Trainer with items on in a course where things actually happen.

Link, by the way, looks much more fierce in the Wii U version and Donkey Kong will, hopefully, be more fun to play as. I liked Bowser in Brawl but I'm excited to see what changes they made to him.

Tabuu is a shit boss and exemplifies everthing that is wrong with Subspace Emissary.

Having an original final boss is better than tacking on Bowser for everyone. And gameplay-wise the Tabuu battle was at least decently designed compared to the other bosses.

The real problem was all the unnecessary original stuff, like the two robot bosses and most Subspace Emissary grunts, which easily could have been replaced by old Nintendo enemies. They were all basically random encounters in Brawl itself, so I don't even get why they went with original designs for them.

I wonder why they went with TP link again. He look phenominal, but it makes me wonder why they used him for the tech demo too. If they go TP style for the new zelda i'd be ok with this. The game itself didn't end spectacularly, so there's plenty of room to grow from there.

Unlike Brawl which looked better in pictures. Smash Wii U looks much better real time.

What leaked characters?
Gemantsu, and GAF, were tipped off by a source that six characters would be revealed at Nintendo's E3: Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Mii, Little Mac, and Pac-Man. The person posted it on GAF the night before the Direct, and Gemantsu had heard from this person earlier but withheld the news until half of it was confirmed with the characters revealed yesterday. This would seem to suggest the source saw the media prepared for the Smash E3 reveals in advance.

Sakurai may be planning to maintain momentum with additional character reveals, much like Wii Fit Trainer, done throughout the remaining days of E3. Then we'd end up with six newcomers -- one more than what was announced with Brawl at E3 2006.

OK, I've watched the dev diary, and the fight between Sakurai and Nate, but I still don't understand: How does Mega Man's variable weapon system work? How do you choose which of the special powers to use?

Each weapons stuff is an attack. So the fire thing seems to be an Up Smash Attack, a charged shot seems to be a Side Smash Attack, and etc.

I just wanted to point out to you guys:

We ARE getting daily Dojo updates. Just not on the website. Sakurai updated the Miiverse with this post today:

"We made artwork for new characters joining the battle.
Here's one for The Villager. Isabelle must be surprised."

Nothing new, but just spreading the word to expect Dojo type updates to be on the Miiverse if they are not additionally appearing on the main site.

I hope Luigi gets a new moveset, it's about time he moved out of Mario's shadow.

And Waluigi needs to be a character.

This. So much! I can see it!

NEW CHALLENGER! NEW CHALLENGER! NEW CHALLENGER!
*Black screen*
"WAH WAH WAH WAH!!"
*Everyone looks around, confused*
*Bombs start dropping everywhere*
WALUIGI TIME! *Flash on screen*
*Waluigi is standing in front of all the explosions, laughing*
"Waluigi numbe~~ WAAH!!"
*Waluigi get knocked off stage by Luigi*
Gods I love Waluigi.

From what it looks like to me, neutral A is Mega Buster, neutral B is Leaf Shield, side B is Crash Bomber, up B is Rush Coil, down B is Metal Blade

If anything Waluigi will be the one doing the interrupting.
