If a character is unique, they stay. Sakurai is about gameplay variety first and foremost. Mr. GAW is Smash's only 2D sprite-based character, fighting with frames. He was in Melee and Brawl. He recently had his own attraction in Nintendo Land, and lends his series' namesake to Game & Wario. He's an integral part of Nintendo history, which is what Smash celebrates. And again, the dev team clearly loves him, as is evident from this whiteboard illustration they made at the onset of SSB4's development:

He was my favorite Melee character and had the craziest moveset.
Its worse for marvel games. You got a bunch of people who don't know jack shit about comic's wondering where someone is.

I kind of doubt it'll have DLC. Sakurai will probably be done with the game once it's out and move on to something else.
Sakurai seemed open to the idea of DLC in Brawl, but it wasn't technically possible at the time. I'd be all for it. He's not the kind of game designer to withhold content and charge for it at a later date, so anything he does for DLC would probably be worth the money.

Thing with Mr. GAW, aside from the dev team doodling him in their spare time, he's been in two Smash games, and continues to get his name out there through his Nintendo Land attraction and Game & Wario. His depiction in Smash is a work of comic genius, imo; he exemplifies the sort of creative ethos and passion that defines Sakurai in my eyes. He will return.
I could see them doing major DLC like Super Luigi U. I don't think they'd just add characters and costumes for a la carte consumption.

You are right though. Sakurai is the type of developer to put all he can into one game and move on when he's finished. It's part of why I like him.
If he wants this to be competitive. That isn't option, in case meta-knight v.2 happens again, now he could be nerfed with an update. he may or may not have to over see all that.

Aren't the Kremlings as a whole in some kind of stasis undefined zone because of licensing issues and whether Rare/Nintendo owns them? I feel like that makes Dixie more likely just because the Kongs are Nintendo property for sure.

I doubt there will be many, if any, characters removed from Brawl. Sakurai doesn't like removing characters and Mr. G&W would make little sense.
What other press meetings will there be at E3 where Sakurai could hypothetically introduce these characters? I mean, they could just drop the bomb via their website, but still...
It would seem totally like Sakurai, who no doubt loves seeing reactions to his work as a creator, to want to witness the reactions in person.
At the same time, they might've prepped individual character reveal trailers with the intent of playing it by ear: If X number of reveals doesn't generate Y amount of hype, drop another trailer... and another...
In that case, they might already be satisfied with the hype created by Wii Fit Trainer, and they may opt to withhold Mii, Little Mac and Pac-Man for another time.

The Wii Fit Trainer was revealed on the show floor in an impromptu demonstration from Sakurai, so it's possible they'll be doing the same thing today and tomorrow.

Seeing that Sakurai went out of his way to make Mega Man as classic styled as possible I hope Pacman gets the old style Pac eyes if he is a newcomer, they just fit so well, it's like Pacmen on your Pacman.

And even a few Mario spinoffs have some Kremlings as well, Strikers has Kritter Keepers, Baseball had K.Rool and Kritters.

No. Kremlings aren't appearing in games because they suck. Nintendo owns the IP.
Mr. GAW would be easy to see in the 3DS version, as well, being more than an outline -- he's a silhouette!
What's the Great Sacred Treasure? I don't remember it.
Viridi doesn't even appear in-game with a 3D model nor does she do any attacks other than command minions.
Get Pandora as a blob as the assist trophy or better yet, one of the wizards.

Paper Mario is the only conceivable threat to Mr. GAW's inclusion, since he is also a 2D sprite-based fighter. However, I think the two can coexist: Unlike Mr. GAW, Paper Mario is a 2D figure that can bend and roll up and fold within a 3D space. Thus, you can have both characters and have them be distinct from one another.
Why do you people want Lucina, and instead of whom? Marth is FE's signature character and on Sakurai's whiteboard art, he ain't going nowhere. Chrom is the most logical choice for the second Fire Emblem rep -- with Awakening's success in the west, I'd say that had it not been for Melee and Brawl, he'd easily be more recognizable than both Marth and Ike.

And yeah, Mr. Game and Watch is staying. He symbolizes and integral point of Nintendo's history otherwise untouched by the series -- plus, he's gaining tons of attention these days. And he's not just a representation of a console anymore (which had besides generic G&W games, titles from Mario, Zelda and the like too) -- Game and Watch is become a franchise brand on itself.
What do you mean how? Probably just set it in the settings, which one you want to use. That's how Mario Tennis works.

Im busy working, if they are going to show a new character which hour will be that? At what time did they show wiifit trainer.
How can it be pretty meh? Its a fighter that cant use punches to fight, theres no one like that in smash yet. Also it can be pretty funny if they add Doc Louis in his final smash (lets hope is not the fucking gorilla mac).
Hope the ring comes with punch out fighters doing moves like the pokemons in the brawl pokemon stage.
