Cheap Arse Gaffer |Europe| We Need To Go Cheaper

Also your internet connection speed needs to be at least 1.5 mbps. Which is probably not going to be a problem for anyone in the Western world, but still it's a silly extra requirement.

You say that. I have family in London who live a long way away from the phone thingy and the best they can get is 1mbs..

Seriously though, if I can't import from the UK again everything on Xbox One will cost me anywhere between 20-80% more expensive. Retail prices suck over here.

That's why PS4 is region free ;)

They should have just bunched all Europe into one if they are going to region lock

Didn't they say something like only on item within a month of launch.

Plus do you want to ris a £350 product with second class customer service.

Ah right didn't see that.

To be honest I wouldn't trust them with a £3.50 item not to send the wrong thing and blame the retailer who they sourced it from. The few people I know who have used them are not happy bunnies. Still be a giggle to see what they come up with.

I'm really surprised no one's talking about this, or maybe it has been posted a few pages back.

"Also, Xbox One games are for activation and distribution only in the specified geographic regions at present as well."

Does this mean they're going to start country locking? A substantial part of this thread, myself included, is going to be royally fucked if so.

I think by regions they mean the usual ones, PAL, NTSC-U, NTSC-J, and so on

Yupp. I doubt they're not going to lock for specific countries. How would that even work? It would be expensive for Microsoft to make so many different versions of each game.

EDIT: Then again it could be a different kind of region-locking; it could be net-based. Everything is possible concerning Microsoft, I guess.

Actually there is an exhaustive list of countries. Many PAL countries not in there... Luxemburg, Norway, Portugal to name a few.

Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
Norway
Russia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States

Might wanna check Norway again.

That would be totally doable and totally a nightmare. Don't give them ideas! :P

Okay, Zavvi's customer service is strange - this time in a good way that's left me with a dilemma.

Basically, I pre-ordered the PS4 between the February reveal and E3, when Zavvi had a 10% off code for the first 200 customers to use it - I didn't expect it to work on a console, but it did. So it ended up at £360, from the initial £400. This was literally the only reason I was keeping the order with Zavvi, to see if they honoured the discount.

Anyway, as we know the actual price was £349.99 - I checked yesterday and my preorder was still sitting at £360. So I emailed Zavvi to see if they'd be amending the price, and cheekily asked if they could apply the 10% off I'd used on the order to the actual price.

Got a response today, it said that they couldn't amend orders - expected response. However, I log in to my account to respond to the ticket asking them if they'd send me a 10% voucher to re-order with - and then I see this:

Not only have they given me a discount after saying they couldn't - the discount is actually greater than it should be. I assume their system has corrected £399 to £349, but still taken off the initial £40. So the PS4 works out even cheaper - if they send it, that is.

What should I do GAF? Keep it and risk it for a cheaper PS4? Or cancel it and order from somewhere else? I think I'll keep it for now until I see what sort of bundles will be available near launch.

Order from another place, send it back if this comes through! If you can budget it.

That's what I'm saying though. IP-based is entirely possible and I know local publishers were kind of pissed off about people importing from the UK.

You are saving like £4 extra or something over 10%? Only a few people will have 10% codes applied to console pre-orders so they probably won't cancel them or go through and update everyone's 10% value.

Nothing new at all. If I recall correctly, they already blocked several games (e.g. Duke Nukem 3D) from the Xbox 360 store for people living in Germany. And by that I mean those people can't get those games at all unless they use a VPN provider.

And I think Sony also used something similar to block the Metal Gear Rising demo back then when it was exclusive to the Japanese PSN store. Even a Asian/Japanese PS3 wasn't enough (otherwise I could have downloaded it heh), you also had to use a Japanese (or at least Asian?) IP address.

True, it's only an extra fiver - it's still a mistake though which they could very well use as an excuse to cancel it. I just hope if they do cancel it they actually tell me - heard horror stories of people having things cancelled without notice by Zavvi. I'll be watching that order page like a hawk in the days running up to launch if it's still processing by then!

Mine hasn't moved either, kind of worrying, you can no longer buy the Joel edition either on the Tesco website. It also said when I bought it expected to arrive on the 15/06/13

I ordered Lego City from Tesco for launch a few months back. I dunno what's going on with them right now, but they had major issues getting it to me. My order stayed in processing for like a month, though calling them up, they claimed the order had in fact been sent.

After a few weeks of chasing up and calling, I cancel the order and take a refund because the package never came. One week later a package from tesco actually showed up with my copy of Lego City. So I got myself a free copy of Lego City, huzzah

That said usually they send absolute last minute, I ordered my 3DS XL, PSP slim and other games with them while they were still entertainment, and they always dispatched around midnight thursday. I certainly would not expect them to deliver before Friday morning

I ordered a 3DS game and got the wrong item twice in a row. I didn't give them a third chance, just demanded my money back. I think there are clearly some communication problems between them and the suppliers.

If you have both console you should take the Vita version, the 3DS save problem is really annoying. If you don't have a Vita, the 3DS version is fine but you have to take care to avoid this save problem.

I own a Vita, and knew about the save problem, but thought they might have fixed it by now. Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably go for the Vita version then.

Yeah, I agree. Definitely Vita, way better image quality and capacitive touch controls, or better classical controls due to a more ergonomical (at least for me) form factor.

I went for the red DS + Mario as Nintendo really did shit a large brick out their ass at E3.

I guess they were just price drops - nothing more.

I read too much into this, and for that I am sorry.

What will I do now - nothing?

I do not know.

Farewell.
