Jason Mewes would make an interesting DLC character
It's up in the air for many characters at the moment, as Sakurai likes to throw curveballs.
Andy is on my wishlist though.

That would be awful as it would open the door to putting basic characters in the full game and making many into downloadable paid characters in future installments.
Fix the problems with patches, but gives us the full roster in the disc.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

i wonder if they are trying to battle the sausage fest that is smash bros. i mean only 3 "real" female characters in a 35+ cast. They made WiiFit Girl a newcomer not the guy.
Hopefully they announce an Advance Wars 3DS soon, that would help chances.
What new FE character will we get? I haven't played the new one yet, but the guy on the cover looks cool. He seems too similar to Marth though.

So I just realized that provided Smash Bros. has off-tv play, I'll never stop playing it

there's absolutely nothing wrong with post-release dlc, it enhances the game experience and provides new content
I would love to have a Advance Wars representative in the game, but Andy is just about the most boring character in the series. Too bad he is also the main character
I would love to see Advance Wars get a character (someone has to replace Snake after all...im kidding, sort of). But I'm not sure how likely that could be. I put Sami on my list but Andy would be cool too.

I think Bowser Jr is the most important Mario character not in Smash yet. Then I would Waluigi or Toad would be next, but Toad is uninteresting.

What if Abe got in Smash since Oddworld New 'N Tasty is comin' to Wii U? As someone who was upset he didn't make it into All-Stars, I would honestly be in tears.
Buuuut that's just me. Realistically? I'm praying Sonic comes back so we can get some new stages from his good games like Colors/Generations/Lost World

It's ugly in a good way imo. I can see why you wouldn't like it though.
I would have put Sami but the no guns rule basically puts her out. Even though her moveset would be probably the closest to an actual soldier compared to most Advance Wars CO.
Also I hope even if there's no Advance Wars character, there's at least some music. I love some of the characters themes and they'd sound even better redone. Even Ruin/Dark Conflict has some decent music.

As for new characters, it's tough because Nintendo hasn't made many. I'm on Team Waluigi. Palutena is the best actual character in a Nintendo game that I've played in a while, and considering the developer, I'd say she's got a good shot.
For Fire Emblem, Sakurai tends to go with the latest one. So Ike is out and Chrom and (FE:A spoiler)
would be nice. I'd prefer the spoilered character.

That's one thing Nintendo doesn't need to copy, it's certainly not what the other smash games were missing either. Like I said, fix the issues with patches, but give use the full roster in the disc. I don't want to end up having to buy half the characters. Besides working (by playing) to get/unlock the characters is way more rewarding than just buying them.
My man Waluigi better make it into the game despite all of his haters in the previous Smash Bros. threads dissing him. I still maintain that if he's ever given his own solo Mario spinoff or team-up game with Wario and more personality like Luigi in Dark Moon, then more people would like him. He just hasn't been given a chance, just because he started because of Sports games doesn't mean he isn't worthy. Next Level Games should be the ones to make a game for him and it helps that he's essentially "evil/antihero Luigi" so a project like that would fit them perfectly. Year of Waluigi 2014!
And of course his taunt should be the crotch-chop with a "Too Bad, Waluigi Time!"

Lyn was a great character. And her personality wasn't so flawlessly "good" that she stood out from other FE lords. The fact that we even got her as an assist trophy was a nice touch.

Same. FE has so many great characters now so I'm not too confident about her getting in. Still would have been a great addition imo. No Smash character uses a katana yet
If they could make Snake work, they could make her work if they wanted too. And Sakurai is so unpredictable but since there is a handheld focused Smash I can see Advance Wars getting a stage atleast on the 3DS version.
Since its from namco, them:
Klonoa would be hype but no way is Namco letting him out from the grave
you get the full rooster with the game, everything that is released after that is just a bonus. Surely getting new characters and stages is better than getting nothing.
Alternatively, they could do something similar to NSMBU Luigi version, an expansion of the base game with more new content
and I kind of regret not putting Sami on my list now. They can easily work around the gun issue by giving her an explosives-based moveset, for example

While it doesn't need to be 50/50 it definitely needs more females. This is why I think "Marth" will replace Marth. Can't think of who else he'd want to throw in.

Maybe, but to me that would work to the detriment of the series, as future versions might feature less characters just to get more dlc.

I remember when melee came out my friend was like "You know Marth is short for Martha right?" and it never made any sense to me since why shorten it by one letter, especially when they have longer names in Melee (Ganondorf. Nuff said)

I was hoping for this in Brawl, but since it didn't happen I'm hoping the Smash Music guys will put this into the new versions: Cipher Admin Battle from POKEMON COLOSSEUM.
This track has been stuck in my head since I first played Colosseum almost a decade ago. This is perfect for epic fighting music. You can thank me later Nintendo.

Do you know how thoroughly saddening it is to know that you own the only pieces of good/OK/passable fanart for a character you rally behind? Do you know how further saddening it is to know that they were done in 2008 and no one's done better since? ;____;
