Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

WOODMAN DOWN.

Mostly used pew-pew on the level itself, but cut Woodman down with Metal Blade (pun intended). I died against him once, but the game had a checkpoint right outside the boss door. Is it like that on all difficulty levels, or just Normal?

Was an article posted a bit back that confirmed them as the actual names I believe.

Not really a fan but eh

That can't be right, something must have gotten lost in translation. If it were Super Smash Bros Wii U, that'd be one thing, but I can't fathom that they would push out "Super Smash Bros For Wii U" for Wii U. It's redundant and terrible. If they're not going to put any thought into it, call them Red and Blue, call it Brawl again, anything would be better.

MM is one of the few series that was actually made better with the limitations of the NES. Seriously, the Mega Man remake on Genesis sucked, the PSP remakes lost all the charm of the originals, and MM 7 and 8 just weren't as good (though they were still good).

So it makes me very happy that Sakurai and co. created the new Smash 4 Mega Man with the image of the NES Mega Man in mind. I feel like that's the way Mega Man was and is supposed to be.

Well it has a better title screen song so....
No
It also has an inferior password theme. And it doesn't have Snake Man, Hard Man, Top Man, or Magnet Man's theme. And...

(Alternate post: Thammy is a sad, bitter man.)

I wouldn't necessarily say better represented, lots of skills are derived from MM3 anyways + Rush. We still don't know which alternative themes will be in Smash other than MM2:Wily 1. They will for sure have a MM3 song, most likely Title Screen or Proto Whistle/Ending.

You're just being taught which is the superior game.

Yeah, maybe the bosses of Mega Man 2 are cooler. Imagine if they made another one where, after beating all the robot masters, you get to fight the bosses of Mega Man 2 again. Wouldn't that be cool?

There's a bit more to it than that. The later NES games just aren't as good (though I think 6 gets a bit of a bum rap: the Jet adapter was neat for instance). 7 had some design problems, I think: the sprites were too big, so enemies felt like they popped in too close and were hard to dodge. Mega Man Zero sometimes has the same problem if you take it fast.

Gah, there's a part in Airman's stage with two Thwomps, one slightly higher than the other. You have to wait for the first Thwomp's horns to go down before you can jump to the second Thwomp... but then the second Thwomp's horns are up and you get knocked to you doom. :\

They're very annoying platform/enemies. Just need a bit of patience and good timing.

Honestly, with those, I just kamikaze into the first spike and use hitstun to avoid falling to my doom. There's no shortage of enemies to recoup health from.

Powered Up on the PSP was awesome. I'll grant you the rest but seriously that was hands down an incredibly charming game.

Man, I'm a huge Protoman fan, so MM3 is close to my hear, but 2 is a classic. No reason to be up set by this.

EDIT:

Customizable characrters?

edit: just saw this not sure if you guys had

I didn't see this. Very interesting.

Not sure how customization will work. Costumes? Limited powers like Kid Icarus? I'm intrigued.

Hopefully if I unlock characters on one, I don't have to do it on the other. I hate unlocking.

Excellent strategy, this got me to Airman. However, Airman then killed me like it was nothing. I couldn't get my Leaf or Metal projectiles past his mini-tornados, and when I did hit him, it didn't seem to do any damage...

I'm going after my third boss, Flashman, and this stage is more slippery than a Bubsy game.

Hey, it seems like different health bars are tied to different suits?
All health bars are the same.

Hmm, Flashman is down. This game is a lot of fun, but kind of easy so far. Probably because I'm using Metal Blade, lol.
MM2 is considered the easiest and the best in the series. The final boss dungeon will fuck you up good, though, I promise.

Hey, I'm just on Stage 4 (Woodman is who I picked), and I tried the Flashman weapon, and the screen froze, and a separate meter ran out, and now I can't use it anymore...?

Also, I have this new red suit powerup -- I don't know which boss I got it from -- but it spawns mini-platforms?
Some bosses give additional powers beyond a new gun. To fill your meter, get the blue capsules that drop from enemies while having the weapon in need of power equipped.

It seems like everyone is ignoring the 3DS version in favor of the Wii U one, hehehe, personally, I'm going to get a 3DS for this game, cuz I cannot miss a Smash Bros game ever

Question about something from the Mega Man trailer: Did that tune that play before he throws the metal blades come from any Mega Man games? It sounds familiar

I hope it's pretty much how I envisioned it earlier in the thread where you can change the character's equipment to change their abilities/other stuff.

It would work wonders for Link and Samus, and allow for clones like Dr. M to exist.

If I'm not mistaken, megaman 2 doctor Wiley's castle.

Edit: reading failure...

Airman's stage is so awesome. That being said, screw this bird that intercepted me as I jumped a platform and knocked me to my death right before the boss battle, lol.

The Mega Man thing I'm most excited about is the Yellow Devil appearance in the MM trailer. If it's a Subspace Emissary 2 boss, it will be a very awesome boss.

Hopefully it's an Emissary thing and not a stage hazard thing.

Powered Up on the PSP was awesome. I'll grant you the rest but seriously that was hands down an incredibly charming game.

To be fair, I played it a very long time ago when I was young, but I remember being pretty meh on the whole thing besides the level creation/sharing feature. I really should play it again to give it a fair shot.

I agree about the sprite size problem with MM 7. I feel like the small sprite in the NES games not only gave a lot of screen space, but also made Mega Man feel more agile. He could jump higher, move faster, etc.

About the age thing...
Well I don't think ppl start to show there age till there late 50s/60s and even then in family i know ppl who are 60 that look like 40 or younger lol

If there was any disappointment for me in the trailer, it was that they didn't show how the game would play differently than Brawl. I think the stuff you mentioned sounds exciting gameplay-wise.

I hope we find out in the next reveal more about what differentiates the game. If there's indeed customization, then there's a ton he could do. And because it's Sakurai, he'll probably do all of it.

Neiteio, are you doing a blind run of MM2 in this thead? :O

It's my second-favourite game in the original series after 3. Have you gotten the Metal Blade yet?

These two are apparently turning 43 this year...

Okay, I have a question that's sort of related to this. A while back, there was an interview from Famitsu between Kamiya and Sakurai. It was only translated on one website, and it could only be found on that website in its entirety (although a snippet of it was posted in its own GAF topic). Some of the things brought up in the interview were, like, Sakurai saying he admires Kamiya for making the kind of games Kamiya would like to play while Sakurai prefers to make games for everyone, Sakurai saying he loves to hear it when someone's kid learns to turn a game system on just to play his games, and Kamiya saying he would turn away anyone who came to Platinum Games to apply for a job and said "my favorite game is "generic RPG".

The original website that had this interview is down and I can't find it anywhere else. Does anyone remember or have this interview?
