Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Lesser games have gotten more.
In what way? Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda deservingly have over three characters each. The only series in Brawl with exactly three playable characters are:

Kirby - 33 million copies sold, ~20 titles
Star Fox - 11.5 million copies sold, 6 titles

Kid Icarus falls way below those two. The series has collectively sold somewhere around 4-5 million copies with only three entries.

by Ryce's logic Megaman shouldn't be in either. His own company doesn't want him ffs.
I'm completely confused by this statement. What does that have to do with what I'm saying about Kid Icarus? There's absolutely no connection. Mega Man is the protagonist of dozens of games that have sold in the tens of millions. Where's the link to a secondary NPC like Hades?

Let's call it Masked Marth instead of "Marth".

Would anyone else like some new Zelda characters, in addition to the same old Triforce?

My picks:

Ghirahim.

Not in that outfit :P

I always forget this since I really can't tell that she is wearing mostly a veil. Just make it more opaque.

And yet in one game Kid Icarus manages to create way more interesting characters than Star Fox's furry cavalcade of random animals.

But "Marth" is a unique character compared to Marth. It's not like a Dr. Mario case :P

I know that, but they wouldn't differ too much gameplay wise unless they want to incorporate lances or a class change system. I'd prefer if they were separate of course, but if "Marth" can't be in, I'd at least like a version with the voice + mask from Awakening as an alt. :P

I never said they weren't more interesting. That's irrelevant. It's just that, as a series, Kid Icarus isn't big enough to warrant three playable characters. You can save/bookmark this post if you want and check back in a year to see if I was right. It'll be Pit and Palutena (or just Pit).

My picks:

I would prefer anything over Toon Link.
Two versions of the same character holding different slots in the roster is not right. Toon Link should be Link's alternate costume. Same with Dr Mario.

Lesser/greater game =/= sales. Get that shit out of here.

I could do without Zelda/Sheik/Ganondorf/Toon Link to make room for some different Zelda characters. Ghirahim, Impa, wolf Link, or Demise would all be pretty fun.

I'd prefer Impa, she'd be more unique, there are already enough sword fighters IMO.

He can use physical and magic attacks too and then there is his lick lol. He can also have a counter attack like the FE characters and Lucario.

Another idea I had is for him to get through out the battle the more he gets damaged.

I never said high-selling games are good games. I'm talking about Smash Bros. Look at Mario, Pokémon, and Zelda. Popularity (ultimately determined by sales) dictates series representation more than anything else. All of the franchises with three or more characters have sold at least ten million copies.
I'd like to see Owain replace the Marth/Roy Fire Emblem swordsman.
This would be great if he had the most hammed up yet mediocre Final Smash.

Sakurai hasn't included many flavour-of-the-month characters. There's Roy. Then I guess the Mother heroes, but there's no main hero of that series.

I've always felt that Link's final smash was a bit generic, it should be a Cucco Squad of Death instead but that's pretty similar to Pit's Army of Angels final smash.

OK, Tharja it is.

My man. In a perfect world we'd get:

Marth: Pretty much permanently the face of the franchise in Smash because of seniority as the first main character and being a cornerstone in the game from Melee onward.

Chrom + Lucina: The new hotness. Duo'd up to play off of their relationship within Fire Emblem Awakening, one of the defining mechanics in the game (the double arts/offense), and to further explore the Ice Climbers "duality" concept in the roster because let's be honest, that gimmick has WAY more potential that isn't being used currently.

Tharja: An alternative to the mandatory Fire Emblem "sword dudes/dudettes 'r us" that everyone expects. Brings another fun female into the mix and magic based gameplay which can lead to takes better or more alternative than Zelda who is pretty much the only other character in the previous rosters that uses magic.
Noire would be cool, too. Pure archer character.
Fuck arrow dudes. :(

Popularity isn't just game sales. Look at Megaman for a great example. The guy hasn't had a game that sold well in a long time, but he's extremely popular. Which is why Capcom peddles fanwear instead of making new games.

If you DID want to look at popularity through sales, a sale/game ratio is what makes sense.
Kirby - 33 million copies sold, ~20 titles
Star Fox - 11.5 million copies sold, 6 titles

Kid Icarus falls way below those two. The series has collectively sold somewhere around 4-5 million copies with only three entries.
Kirby: 33 million / 20 = 1.65 million per game
Star Fox: 11.5 million / 6 = 1.92 million per game
Kid Icarus: 5 million / 3 = 1.67 million per game

This ratio express how broad the fanbase is, which is what would determine popularity if we were looking at a numeric system. With your numbers, Kid Icarus deserves just as much love as Kirby, which is 3 characters.

That would be if this weren't a stupid method of determining roster representation. And it is.

Didn't Sakurai said that Ice Climbers was his favorite game as a child? I don't think they're getting removed. Sakurai will make sure the tech is in place to get them working on the 3DS.

Yes Sakurais favorite game as a Child was Ice Climbers because HE made that game.
