I was just checking if I could get on the account manager from my phone and I had the terrible realization I applied the beta code to an email for a second Square account I didn't even remember I had. I wanted to use my old FF11 acct, I just had so much trouble with the password I didn't even realize it at the time. Since this beta will be wiped I should be able to get started on the full release with my preferred account right?

I cant tell if youre pleased or displeased. the new vrsion is WAY better

Unfortunatly I only have badly compressed Steam screenshots, but even with those it still looks better.

Quite honestly the game looks rather ugly now.

Okay, got into Beta but the big question is this; when do I get to own a Chocobo? And how long roughly from the beginning of the game until you can get one for keeps?

Major LOL moment I forgot to mention...server lag still seems to be in to some degree. XD

I was playing my MRD fighting a Puk. Puk charges Backflip, 30% of the way through its charge-up I sidestep...attack still hits.

Was just playing my LNC right now and doing True Thrust before the timer said I should be able to. Not to mention Ifrit's cracks still hitting folks after they moved in the E3 presentation.

If the problem they changed the engine to fix is still there...why'd they change it again? ._.

My mind is being blown from the soundtrack.
Really, really blown.
I'm tabbing on every track change just to hear the whole track.
It's incredible.

Are you talking about technical graphical fidelity, or some change in the art style? Either way, I'm still not sure that I'd agree.

Hmm, anyone else having issues getting your PS3 controller (PC version) to calibrate? It's working in other games, but not in XIV. When it go to Calibrate, it tells me to press up on the analog stick, but nothing happens when I do.

I was using the PS3 controller just fine earlier. I even went into the calibration too, so it definitely works. I don't know what might be going wrong on your end though.

Remember. All the cool kids will be on Sargatanas.

If by "cool kids" you mean "people who played FF14 1.0 and already maxed out all of the classes" and maybe "some elitist dudes," sure. Ultros is the place for people who are starting new.

Is it just me, or do the textures in ARR look a bit paste-y? Lighting is a lot better but seems like shadows/shading isn't as pronounced as I thought they would be. I think the graphics did take a hit but the art direction is vastly superior to 1.0. Keep in mind that SE is working on DX11.

I just registered a 20 digits code on my square enix account that should have unlocked the ps3 beta token (the 12 digits code), as the giveaway site said it was a PS3 beta thing.

I didnt receive any ps3 code tough, any idea why?

They changed a lot of things to make it more reflective of A. Yoshida's art, including the color palette. Personally, I love the new look.

Textures are lower res, there's less normal maps/bump maps going on, everything is more aliased now, and lighting looks worst too.

You are right about the texture res and normal/bump mapping but the lighting is light years ahead of 1.0. The art and variety of textures and locations make it look far better than 1.0 though.

I'll try to do a comparison with some of my 1.x screenshots in the same locations in ARR tonight. 1.x certainly wasn't without bad textures, either.

So you're officially saying you're not coming to Sargatanas?

This. The game will look much better once they unleash DX11 and some real AA.

I don't think everyone maxed out their classes in the GAF LS. Pretty sure that's not the norm.

Also with the game not requiring FFXI style parties and having level sync for FATEs and dungeons, I don't think that matters much. EDIT: Hell, given how much easier it was to hit cap in FFXIV compared to FFXI in the days of old, I would say it hardly matters at all.

1.0 probably looks better than ARR in a few ways here and there. Character models took a hit, no? Animation quality seems to have been sacrificed to make the game looser. At least getting higher FPS will be easier.

I keep choosing items to sell as a reward for my missions but can't figure out how to sell them. I'm not sure if I'm meant to be able to via vendor or marketboard, but either way I'm not getting any money which I really need at this moment. Help?

Edit: Triangle argh... my bad.

Looking for a spare key. It's been a long time since the days of sitting around the Valkurm Dunes farming for Crab Aprons, I think I'm ready to see how things have changed in the new world.

Jeeze, this Phase runs even better than the last one did on my shitty old PC. It looks great, too. Definitely looking forward to playing more.

The lighting/shadows is leagues better than in 1.0. 1.0 had low shadow resolution and had a tendency to go overboard with HDR/bloom in indoor cutscenes.

Totally forgot I signed up for the beta. Got my PS3 key today woohoo.

I played FFXI a bit, and enjoyed the cooperative experiences.

Does this focus solely more on a solo experience or is grouping encouraged?

It's that good?

I wasn't too impressed by most of what was released so far, but some of the songs were promising.

The most worrying thing for me was the fact that for the first time in a mainline FF, it was said that the music would not loop and would only play once in a while to accentuate certain events.

How does that actually translate to the game?

Got a PC and PS3 code a couple hours ago. I'm going to be using the PS3 code but I'll give away the PC code to anyone that wants it. I've been in the PC beta since February. It is a North America code by the way.

So if I have Legacy status how do I get in this? I've been looking in my SE account page and can't find a link and have no email.
