Anyone know how to pull the camera back with a controller? On PC I can just use my mouse scroll wheel, but on PS3 the camera is just too close to the character for me and I have no idea how to pull it back.
It's that good?
I wasn't too impressed by most of what was released so far, but some of the songs were promising.
The most worrying thing for me was the fact that for the first time in a mainline FF, it was said that the music would not loop and would only play once in a while to accentuate certain events.
How does that actually translate to the game?
Try holding L1 then pulling back on one of the sticks. i think..
Guys which server should I choose in order to play you all?
Ultros, see the post a few pages back.
Is there a thief class or something similar?
Yeah I just read that. But I'm located in Europe, shouldn't I choose a EU server?Ultros, see the post a few pages back.
So you're officially saying you're not coming to Sargatanas?
Pretty much. I'm not interested in starting fresh on a server full of established folks. I'd rather play with people who are also new to the game. Level sync and "people get only 1/10 of their gil!" or whatever aren't enough to level that kind of playing field. Playing catchup is never fun.
Pugilist (PUG), aside from being a blast, is a kind of monk/thief fusion. Right now it's a bit heavy on monk stuff, but if you're looking for leather armor and a damage bonus from the rear it's gonna be your pick.

No no, you were the one that got itlol
In case anyone else is still interested, I may have another one to give away later today.
I like starting MMOs from launch with everyone else being new because then you don't have elitist people who get upset that people who just started playing don't know how to play, and people don't have in their minds the "right" ways to do things yet that they expect everyone else to follow. There's much more freedom of experimentation in an MMORPG in its early days. It's just way better that way.I never really understood the idea of "catching up" though. It isn't a race or anything. There is a level cap and people are going to continue leveling other classes after they hit it.
EDIT: Dragoon (and Lancer) works kind of like a Thief, with directional based attacks. They are basically the "sneak attack" class it seems.

As for catching up, I'm primarily talking about the economy here. I just can't imagine how an economy driven by players who have a lot of gil and established crafts, etc. is going to be at all friendly for newbie players. I've gone through stuff like that numerous times in other MMORPGs. It comes with the territory when you're playing an established game, but I'm not going to create that environment for myself with this game when there's other options.
Is there an overarching story you can complete with cutscenes throughout in this game?
I'm going to Ultros too even though I'm in Europe. Hope it won't have an effect on lag and such.
Shrug. My first contact with the group wasn't particularly great, either. And it didn't really sound like they wanted GAF people anyway. It's extremely friendly to newbies, because we have said time and time again that we would help and ve very supportive. As its been said before we have tons of testimonies to back these claims. We have an amazing community established with the 1.x GAF players. Not to mention getting to play with dega on top of all that. Well that maybe a negative.
I second this question - does the new game have cutscenes for most of the quests, like FFXI did? Because that's what I hate about most modern MMO's, the fact that you get the story by reading a wall of text rather than seeing a cutscene.

God, their account system sucks. Finally downloading on the PS3 though!

Yes main quests have cutscenes.

I recall ff11 being quite the grind. Is ff14 2.0 approachable for folks with a day job?

1.23 was approachable in terms of leveling, and from what I've seen 2.0 is no different.
EDIT: DIE IN A FIRE AMBIENT NOISE ON THE FIELD.They need music playing at all times, for reals.
