Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

The lenght of that mode made it so it could be tackled more times than the SSE mode, which was a long mode that dragged on.

Plus it had more variety in its objectives and modes. Racing against the clock at Big Blue, avoiding the racers. Escaping Zebes, Finding the triforce, etc.

I rather a story mode

Adventure mode was a worthless joke.

I want a story , and want character interaction

I only played SSE a few times, but at the very least, I found it a nice alternative way to unlock most of the roster. If you want boring and repetitive, try leaving your GC on Melee multiplayer with 3 "players" afk vs a bot while you're gone/asleep just to unlock ppl...

Only if they go fun parody tongue-in cheek style for the entire game and none of the lol srs bsns bullshit from Subspace Emissary.

I want a funny story mode yes.

But there needs to be a srs bsns plot around that funny.

essentally

extra dimentional world bad guy

team up and beat him

The 3DS eShop over here in Aus-land is having a Mega Man sale to tie into his Smash reveal. Do NES games run well on the 3DS? Wouldn't mind having the original 6 on the go, already got
the kinda meh
Game Boy game on it.

That's exactly the problem though...? You had a set of battles and stages, and had to play through all of them in the same order multiple times if you wanted to get all the trophies. At least Classic mode changed the matches. It was a mode made to be replayable, but it just wasn't very replayable. They should have gone with something like Star Fox's multiple paths if that was their intent.

SSE only needs a single extra playthrough to get the alternate versions of some cutscenes.

Plus it had more variety in its objectives and modes. Racing against the clock at Big Blue, avoiding the racers. Escaping Zebes, Finding the triforce, etc.

Huh... barrels, trains, auto scrolling stages, open vs linear stages, different enemy types and bosses, secret rooms, some basic puzzles (the dark/light world-like mechanic in the forest part of the labyrinth). SSE had gameplay variation too.

The biggest gameplay design problem with SSE though was heavily reusing segments where the screen locked and you had to beat up a bunch of grunts to advance. It'd be much better paced if those segments had been completely cut or reduced to a few special areas (like when the group fights the army of RoBs in the Subspace Bomb factory).

Yet it was mainly filled with standard match ups, almost like arcade mode with no (or at least very few) variations on these fights, Adventure mode itself never really capitalized on its own idea, it opens strong with the Mario and Zelda stages but the few other stages like that later were a lot less interesting and spread far apart, I mean escaping Zebes was just jumping up static platforms in like 30 seconds.

I don't think it was a bad mode but Melee's adventure isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Of course this isn't to say that it's not worth revisiting the idea but when I think about what i'd want from an updated adventure mode I might as well just ask for a shorter and more refined SSE with more Nintendo world themes.

Not to mention it was great seeing how some characters would fare on some stages.

I swear, I would've loved doing the F-zero stage or the Zebes escape stage as Sonic.

That's basically Melee's adventure mode...

Adventure mode like the first two levels of Melee's Adventure mode would be great.

Make it feel like I'm running through the various games.

The thing I disliked about the Subspace was the whole Nintendolessness of it all. This is a game about Nintendo characters fighting each other and I'm running around in unmemorable environments fighting generic enemies with generic bosses at the end (except a couple fights that were amazing).

People remember Ridley and Rayquaza from Subspace, not random guy with two heads and that other thing. And there's a reason.

Less focus on single player campaign = GOOD. I absolutely loathed how much of the dev. time was clearly spent on single player for Brawl. Absolutely full of padding and uninteresting platforming levels with completely FLOATIER and SLOWER physics than even the multiplayer. (Who the hell thought that was a good idea?)

That'd be good, SSE was too long and the enemies and locations weren't really interesting.

This, right here. The best moments in Subspace was actually fighting bosses/characters from Nintendo games, like Porky, Ridley, or Petey Piranha. Everything else was just bland. Tabuu was just.....THERE. I barely remember anything he did in the whole story aside from making the enemies.

I say take Adventure Mode from Melee and flesh that out more. Make it so there's more optional or alternative fights/paths you can do.

The best level in Melee's Adventure Mode was the one where you had to race to the finish while avoiding the onslaught of F-Zero cars.

*yawn*

In fact, the whole adventure mode was a yawnfest. SSE was terrible, but it managed to maintain some small amount of interest in me. They need to make it unique for each character and not make it super long.

Yeeah, I would pretty much just take this. It was really great for what it was, and I loved going through the areas specific to one franchise. Plus the secrets. Like finishing the mushroom kingdom level in a certain time, to have Luigi hope on Marios head.

It's a crossover game with giant electric rats pummeling on medieval knights and fitness teachers. No.

Heh this is practically the same thing my sister said when I told her how our little brother reacted to the reveals:

Mega Man: "Glad to see they're FINALLY listening to fans."

Villager: "meh"

Trainer: "Ugh, really? Such a stupid idea for a character. I mean the villager was pushing it, but this is just too silly."

I agree. The Melee Adventure mode was relatvively short, and gave incentive for you to try and beat your high scores with all of your favorite characters. It made me feel as though future versions would have levels that were more character or IP specific. Then with Sub Space Emissary, we got a platformer that handled kind of crappy due to the way Smash bros characters control, and it was just kind of boring outside of the cutscenes. I hope they give us a small Nintendo Land type of experience with these IP's but of course with the characters and not those silly, annoying, club fisted, detail lacking Mii avatars...

Alot of the tidbits of information coming out so far are disappointing to me. Still very excited to play the game on the whole. I really hope the 3ds connective is worth it.

For who?

That shit was worthless.

I'd rather the team not do a singular adventure mode but rather just focus on in-depth, massively-involved Event Matches with cutscenes and dialogue and stuff.

(Some could be 30-minutes long!)

We have No tripping, Pro Controller Support, a speed in between Melee and Brawl for battles, and 1080p 60fps. Outside of a solid roster and solid online experience, everything else is gravy. I want my gravy mind you, but most of the big issues are settled already.

Damn hopefully we get this fire flower peach color.. I love it!

A shame duon was a horrible boss to fight. It's hard getting close to the thing without taking a lot of damage.

Really? I found it quite simple. You just had to keep your distance during some attacks. It will also help greatly if you direct the missiles towards Duon to do a lot of damage. My least favourite boss is Porky. That thing was really annoying with a lot of attacks being hard to avoid. I'm talking about each boss in Intense difficulty.

The Kremlings are some of the lamest vilalins ever and Retro was right in axing them for the Donkey Kong Country revival.

Slabs of wood, random frogs and birds, and obese bats. Yep, they are way better than cracked out gators in pirate costumes, big bees with spikes, and orangutangs that look like typical 'stranger danger' fiends.

Guys, hear me out on this first...

I had an idea.

What if there was a demo sometime early-mid next year for the Wii U and 3DS version to hold us off until it releases?

Hey those Obese Bats were fantastic, I always get a kick out of how they writhe in their sleep if you pound the floor at the start of Crowded Cavern.

Original Kremlings are just okay but nothing particularly great, Pirate Kremlings are where the difference is made, Krook and Kutlass, I love those guys.

That "rumor" about 6 characters from the roster, 3 of which have been officially revealed already.

Yeeah, I don't believe that rumor is actually real. Even if three were already revealed, the only big surprise was Wii Fit Trainer.

It wasn't said that they would be revealed first either, just that they'd be in.

Yeah the Kremlins were a million times more interesting then the Tikis. I feel like the Tikis have been done too much before. Didn't mind the random animals though, they could fit in any of the games.

I didn't say Retro's were particularly better, to be fair. :P

Actually, no, the Seals/Walruses or whatever from the new game are cool.

If there's a demo, I expect it to be late next year and revealed right after the game is delayed six months.

I can see the sentiment of not liking the Kremlings, but the Tikis were awful in Returns, worse than the evil Kongs in Jungle Beat. The new villains in Tropical Freeze are a step in the right direction though.

Viking K. Rool as the leader?!

This thread scares me. As long as the man in my avatar makes it, I will not riot.

Sorry, it'll be a woman. ;3

I hope not...I like nurse/bride peach alt.

Hopefully they'll bump the alt colors up to 8 for that....and black and white yoshi.

As do I, it'll be perfect to go with the Dr. Mario costume that Mario will be receiving. :D

Yes, I definitely want that black yoshi!!

Will probably replace her white color in the same way Luigi's Fire colors replaced his similar but different SMB1 colors.

Yea I dont want it to replace it..

I remember in melee Id have what I called a wedding match in which you pick white peach, white marth, white link, and I think white ish pink colored zelda I believed it was fun.

Literally nobody had ever bought up Wii Fit Trainer before, to the point where it isn't even an option in that Fan Roster Maker program everybody keeps using. People weren't aware she even counted as a character and bar some kind of complete stroke of luck I reckon the later three have just been held off for a later date, especially since Pac-Man isn't all that hype-inspiring.

The way each newcomer has their own trailer on Nintendo's youtube page (Mega Man, AC Villager and Wii FT all have their own separate videos) seems like it'd of been easy enough for Nintendo to just cut those three out of the E3 Announcement trailer and hold them off for later reveals.

Also while I think I slightly preferred the Kremlings (need to see more of the viking's before I decide on them), the tiki's were still pretty cool in my book besides their boring as fuck leader. The evil Kongs and bosses in Jungle Beat were also super neat, though it's a shame most of that game's enemies don't really have a unifying 'theme' like the DKC's and instead come across as Sunshine rejects (which I already felt was an EAD Tokyo game with shitty new characters).
