Speaking of that artwork, I made this 1600x900 wallpaper with my rudimentary Microsoft Paint skills. Note I left some white space on the right to accommodate two columns of desktop icons if need be.
That being said, it'd be GREAT if someone could replicate the dots so they seamlessly continue from the main image and fill in the white space on the left.
Downloaded the off-screen gameplay video at 60 fps.
Wow.
I wasn't impressed with the game much before just because of expectations.
But it looks great.
also, seeing the direct footage in high quality off the eshop makes all the difference. The grass and the trees look amazing. Some may say im over reacting, but i think the artwork is phenomenal.
Toad looks cute![]()
Maybe...but this artwork is great.
It feels like you can jump right in that tube right after luigi. Nintendos artstyle is awesome.

Don't use Imgur for high res pictures if they're jpgs. It automatically adds more compression.Speaking of that artwork, I made this 1600x900 wallpaper with my rudimentary Microsoft Paint skills. Note I left some white space on the right to accommodate two columns of desktop icons if need be.

The overworld looks nice. It's the character and the lack of shading and the weird Galaxy glow (and lack of any shadows)
It'd be cool if the in-game visuals were a bit more reflective of these visuals. Looks almost claymation-like with the textures and lighting, I'd kill for a Mario game that would draw from that kind of aesthetic.
Has this video been linked yet? Seems to show that there's quite a bit of secrets in the level and that it's not just one linear path quite well
Theyre not far off, at all.
If you haven't seen this game in person, i promise you, from the eshop high quality vids, it looks great.
Please, no wahh-wahh!I think it's what you mentioned in the post prior about the shadows on the models themselves that was sticking out to me.
On a side note I hope orchestrated music is going to make it in (at least a bit).

Theres shadows on the objects(see trees), but the character shadows arent reflective of the actual 3d model, but rather(i believe) pay homage to the past games.
I was just thinking, what if the world map of the game is very similar to Super Mario World, and contained lots of branching pathways and secret exits, some requiring the spending of green stars.
The's the problem. If the characters were more in line with the game it would look MUCH better. The weird glowing and lighting regardless of where they are just makes them stand out. Especially that huge dinosaur thing. If they took away his glow and gave him some shadows he'd look MUCH better.
i honestly think it would be distracting, especially with four people.
It helps with gameplay to have a circle shadow underneath you, to be able to target when jumping.
What I don't understand with statements like this is that Galaxy is basically just as linear as this game is. Mario 64 and Sunshine allowed real exploration, even though the game world wasn't really that big, but still. Galaxy is just a 3D version of old school 2D platforming, no exploration, just linear path after linear path. But that's not to say it wasn't great, because it was. But that's also confusing, because it just shows that linear 3D Mario game works just like 3D World will work.Super Mario 3D World looks great, but I hope Nintendo is also making a Mario that's like 64/Sunshine/Galaxy (or open world Mario).
Wii U can't miss out on that, especially since it would really show off the visuals.
Maybe...but this artwork is great.

This is most definitely a beautifully designed advertisement.
LOLIt's not an ad. It's promoted content.

Plexiglass pipes is one nice idea. You actually see what happens when Mario go down a pipe! If you think about it, it's mind blowing!
That sounds like New Super Mario Bros. U.I was just thinking, what if the world map of the game is very similar to Super Mario World, and contained lots of branching pathways and secret exits, some requiring the spending of green stars.
Although if the grassland plains is really from World 2, it's likely going to be a hodgepodge of random themes again (why do they think we like this?)
Does my memory fail me or have there been no significant new enemy creations in a very long time? Feels like all these Mario games, while fun, are just re-using old enemies.
I can't recall how long it's been since I've seen a new enemy type.

Your memory may fail you, but the nostalgic memorys succeed Nintendo.
Really, dont fix what isnt broken.
Its not easy to come up with a fresh new ideas in gaming today.
A lot of developers are going after realism, in my opinion, is because they are tastless and cant make a fantasy game.
Its not easy. Look at disney, theres brilliance there, and no one compares.
Same with Nintendo.
NSMBU had Nabbit and the flying squirrels, just off the top of my head.Does my memory fail me or have there been no significant new enemy creations in a very long time? Feels like all these Mario games, while fun, are just re-using old enemies.

why does everyone want a mario galaxy 3?
dont get me wrong they were amazing but cant we just get a new 3d mario ip
galaxy was in the wii cycle
sunshine was the gamecube and
mario 64 was N64
next gen means new.
Mario's pose appears to be a callback to the Mario 2 pose:

Which would make sense, seeing Mario 2's playable characters :V
But 3DLand was only a general trial of the formula, that I hope will be gloriously exploited in World. If we judged by NSMB, we wouldn't have wanted sequels probably, instead luckily we got the amazing Wii and U versions.

As much as I tire of the NSMB characteristics that have long overstayed their welcome (same aesthetic, same world and stage themes, same music, the "New" name being a joke at this point, etc.), I think that if you're going to say that NSMBW and NSMBU weren't worthwhile or shouldn't have been made, I'm going to have to disagree.Baaad example. Comparisons to NSMB are not going to do this game any favors.

NSMBU's challenge mode was probably the best thing to happen to this franchise in years.
