Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I really hope Little Mac stays out. I get that people have some kind of unfounded nostalgia for him but he's just this standard boxing human. What are his moves gonna be? Neutral A? Punch? Sure. Forward A? Hard punch? Yeah sure. 5 minutes later Down B? Punch? AGAINN?? COME ON MAN

And look at that guy's Wii redesign. Just, so average. Ugh. I'd honestly rather take Mii integration.

I'd stoop that low.

I'd rather have my shitty Mii, with his shitty, Mario Kart Wii PAL version voice, and his shitty face than Little Mac.

OH MY GOD WHAT RIVETING DESIGN

Seriously fuck this guy. I'd sooner welcome tripping than this little asshole. What relevance does he even have to anything let alone Nintendo? Look at the sales for Punch-Out Wii. 300k? 350? No one cares about this guy. Pacman has more god damn charisma than Little Mac. Pacman is a circle with a mouth.

And besides, what kind of image does Nintendo want to set for a game that should be enjoyed by all ages? Little Mac is a NES era boxer. You know what kind of friends he has?

Yea. I'd think twice Sakurai before you put this guy in your game or believe you me, you are going to have some very angry letters coming your way.

This is why Sakurai is in charge and you're not.

Fuck the graphics look excellent! I may have to buy a Smash Bros game for the first time!

And those Starfox feels, mang. Why can't we have a proper Starfox game again :(

Little Mac would be amazing. There are so many ways they could make him unique (such as pulling a Ness and giving him the moved of other characters in his series, for example) that it'd be pretty hard to mess him up. Make his Up B a Star Punch that gains power the more times you've used a counter move on your opponent and his Final Smash Giga Mac and we're golden.

Ridley has always been at least 10 times the size of Samus with the exception of the original NES Metroid, which was retconned in Zero Mission. So as a problem of scale, since there is a character from the same series present, Ridley would be required to shrink and would pose a severe problem of scale. I can guarantee 100% that Ridley is not on the Smash roster, I'd put an entire paycheque down on the odds being in my favor on this.

I think we only need three third party characters: Mega Man, Sonic and Pac-Man.

Less is disappointing, more is saturation.

This is what is needed, nothing more, nothing less. Big historic characters and with a big connection to nintendo in some way or another.
Although I think that if Simon of Castlevania also appeared it would also be cool, and could fit with the other 3.

Its this a joke? Becuase if not the whole thing is pretty damn idiotic.
Theres opinions and then theres... stupidity at its finest.
BTW That gif is not from any punch-out! game.

No, because that isnt hype.

Stop being not hype.

I think its pretty hype, I dont know what you are talking about. Im one of the people that would love to see PacMan if its well done and has his old design with the vintage cartoon eyes.

I find good characters pretty hype, not stupid surprises.
Bayonetta would be cool though.

It was extremely exaggerated sure, but save the Ring King/King of Boxer reference, yeah I pretty much mean it. Little Mac has no appeal for me and I will be a little disappointed if he ends up stealing a spot on the final roster. I mean there's gotta be someone on this forum that agrees Little Mac sucks :p

I don't know but it could be just you.

Wow, I didn't know that Little Mac hate existed. He's probably my third favourite Nintendo protagonist behind Link and Pit. It will be a crime if he doesn't make it.

I'm kind of warming up to Simon replacing Snake in SSB4. I mean, when I think non-Nintendo NES protags, it's...

Mega Man
Simon Belmont
Scrooge McDuck
Arthur
Ninja Turtles

Thinking about it, though... unlikely, but I would love to see the RCR guy rendered in 3D as a playable character in Smash.

yeah, I would adore a classic looking pac-man. But I'm super afraid they're going to use this shitty looking design because it'll tie in with the game.

I want him to look as close as possible to this.

He is a character in a fighting game and he cant use his legs or any other part of his body for any attacks, only his gloves. I say that is pretty unique in the smash roster and you can create a very creative moveset if Sakurai decides to use different attacks for other Punch-Out! boxers.
He also has doc louis that can make the character really funny in cutscenes, attacks or final smash, or even being like the pokemon trainer in the back shouting things. Little Mac and Doc Louis must be hand in hand, and I hope Sakurai understands that, at least for making jokes.

What I hope is that Sakurai doesnt decide to use his gorilla version of mac for the final smash, because that would be the easy and boring way to go, and hope he does something with the bike, that at least would be funny.

I would love that, and yes, im also afraid that Namco forces the new design to Sakurai. Seeing Megaman though gives me hope.

Sakurai could do something really cool, if Pac-Man is designed to represent Namco's arcade history. Imagine:

Inflating opponents with Dig Dug's pump
Driving the Pole Position racecar
Dropping a Xevious bomb
Summons enemies from Galaga as Final Smash

etc.

EDIT: I hope that Sakurai does include Doc as a background character when Mac's fighting. Final Smash could be that Doc joins in as an AI partner for a short amount of time, with his leopard leotard.

So Pac-Man can only steal moves and has none of his own. Okay.

I don't know how they're gonna pull off Pac-Man.

Hey douche, what I said was that Pac-Man could utilize moves from other characters from Namco properties. My point was that it makes him extra interesting. He hardly needs the help to make a moveset; you just aren't creative enough to figure it out yourself.

Problem with Simon Belmont is which of his rendition to use. Given Sakurai's usual way of going to the roots of franchises and seen what he did with Megaman, one would say Nes' Castlevania sprite should be the base to work on. But it's quite a difficult task as Simon sprite hasn't never been much characterized there, and in artworks of that time he even looks quite different.
He could go with red haired Simon of latest Kojima's artworks and I'd be fine with that as I find it very appealing. Sakurai went with modern Snake too, so it's definitely a possibilty, but differently than Snake red haired Simon never appeared in a game of much significance, let alone on a Nintendo console.

Whoa where's this aggression coming from? Obviously I'm not creative enough to come up with a moveset for Pac-Man, why do you think I said "I don't know how they're gonna pull off Pac-Man."

Jeez this thread makes people crazy.

I'd like to see him combine the two styles a bit.

You haven't truly suffered until you've seen a picture of Choose Goose doing unmentionable acts to a different Choose Goose. The horror... The horror...

I rather have sonic in feels more fitting for him to be there

I don't really agree. Sonic is a character whose combat normally appears as homing in on things while curled up like a ball. How is that more suited to a fighting game than Bayonetta, a character whose fighting style is half of her whole design?

Personally they should throw out all clones or redirect them to skins.

Also, Mii Character should be Nikki from Swapnote, beating up fools with oversized pens and stationeries.

I absolutely agree with that, though. I think Shulk has a low chance simply because of his fight style. There are already quite a few sword fighter in Smash and I'm not sure if there's place for another one.

In terms of Xenoblade characters, I think the heropon is more likely.

I'd have to disagree. Shulk's fighting style comes from the different powers of the Monado and how he applies them in battle. He can increase his speed, make a shield, cancel an enemy's power up, etc. I'n pretty sure a character who has that kind of variety stands a good chance.

First part of your post is awful. Clones are great. They create a larger roster; taking out clones won't free out a spot. You're taking out the spot entirely.'

Second part is great. Nikki SHOULD be the Mii representative. I'd be all for Mii, in that case.

I dont understand some statements like this. Just be creative and let your imagination flow. He had a great idea making pacman a character with moves of historic namco titles, which I see really interesting. But even without that idea is really easy creating a PacMan moveste using some of the habilities of the original game (the pellets, invincible pacman, using the ghosts) as well as all those 2D PacMan platformers.

Are people really thinking PacMan is still a circle thing that resembles a pizza? Becuase he has hands to punch and legs to run, what you create with that has to be creative.

Just look at Captain Falcon, he was a racer that never left his car. Sakurai turned him into a japanese bounty hunter super hero that shouts the names of his moves when he hits.

Honestly, even without his new stuff, he has good roster potential. Granted you have to kind of use your imagination, such as perhaps having Pac-Man fly into the air in order to follow a line of dots, or his forward smash would launch him forward eating dots. However, there's tons of neat stuff you could do, and it wouldn't necessarily be boring and repetitive like Sonic was.

Honestly, I can't actually come up with his moveset. I mean he was in SFxTk but he was in a mech like Tron.

And Captain Falcon was already established as a bounty hunter who also drove in death races for a living. Though I will cede that Sakurai came up with a moveset with him, he at least has arms and legs.

They could always take from that new Pac-Man game I guess, but I don't know anything about it.

I wonder which games that Mii would actually represented for if they got in?

Here is the games that they could borrow from:

Find Mii (3DS)
NintendoLand (Wii U)
Wii Music (Wii)
Wii Party (Wii)
Wii Sport Resort (Wii)
Wii Sport (Wii)
Pilotwings Resort (3DS)
Mii's Kart (Mario Kart)
Wii Party U (Wii U)

I think ugly's post blew my mind. I have never even played a Punch Out game and I love Little Mac. I've even considered picking him up if he's revealed.

There's honestly a lot of potential there.

Karting, soccer ball, dodgeball, baseball bat, tennis racket, a yoga attack, boxing, an Up B plane, etc.

Yea I've been known for my progressive ideas and positive forward-thinking :p

I don't hate him that much, I'd give him a go. I'd just pick a million other characters above him.

I just realized, people are asking the wrong guy for Bayonetta. It's not Kamiya, it should be a Sega person.

I'll just go ahead and admit that personally, I see a lot of the opponents of Mac being a little more interesting than Mac himself. Too bad none of them are nearly as iconic.

Alright. What are those characters, I wonder?

Well I'm not gonna list my entire one million but my most wanted would be

Andy (or Sami, to beef up the female roster) from Advance Wars
Quote from Cave Story
Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie (come on they could strike a deal)
Kid Dracula, from Kid Dracula

None of those will happen but still
I can dream...

No-one wants Chibi-robo except me it seems.

People complain that there's an under representation of female:male but there is a much greater under representation of robots:organics...

I want Chibi-Robo real real bad. It just seems like Nintendo doesn't care about the series :(

PacMan has arms and legs since the 90's (even before if you count arcade cover arts and not playable) , I dont understand what you are trying to say with that.
Seems you dont know he appeared in 2D platformers with a typical moveset.

I have a bias towards little Mac because I hold most of the records on fastest kos, so I'd like to see him playable, screw you haters!

He could be interesting if he has a counter system and you amass stars via countering.
