Ike is gone. They cut Roy for Ike. They'll cut Ike for Chrom.
I'll cut Sakurai!
alright, lets got back to posting kinky Princess Peach fanart, everyone
at least someone is listening
Personally I think it was due to Mega Man easily eclipsing the inclusion of Pac-Man, which probably would've ticked off Namco somewhat.I think it's our own fault we didn't get the reveal of the other characters. I'm sure if the game had been received less warmly, they would have spilled more stuff. They probably thought people were satisfied enough and decided to keep surprises for later.
I'd prefer Snake but I actually hadn't thought about Advance Wars before. While I doubt it since both of those series seem fairly dead (especially AW), I wouldn't mind seeing somebody like Andy getting in. Technically that series dates all the way back to Famicon Wars in the 80's, right?I think they could work Snake's moveset into an advance wars or battalion wars character pretty easily.

Don't say that.Ike was such a fun character in Brawl. Ideally, they would keep Ike, and replace Marth with "Marth".
Most of his sword arts and monado arts don't have a purpose in a game like Smash. Most of them have status effects or positional benefits that don't translate. Moves like Armor would also not translate well. Like I said, you would basically have his buster sword attacks.
People argue 'but ugly, he was hardly relevant when Brawl came out either!'
Hey, don't let anybody call you... oh.
What would Monado Purge do????
Monado Eater, Monado Purge, Monado Cyclone, Monado Shield and Monado Armor can be used offensively / supportively, and would totally fit in smash. You're seriously going to dismiss a bunch of moves because their "side effects would not translate?" Smash is completely about bending the rules, it's absurd to imply otherwise (notice how Ness' PSI Magnet doesn't even work like that in the actual game). Hell i'm sure he could get Monado Enchant and Monado Speed to work if he really wanted too.
If Sakurai were to seriously consider Shulk, i'm positive he'd adopt a less strict mindset.
what if kiefer sutherland's kid really wants solid snake in smash bros. for the wii u thoughYea I'm expecting Sonic and Megaman only for the 3rd party reps. Sakurai said around brawl-time he didn't wanna go overboard with 3rd party members and it's the same this E3.
Megaman is the 'exception'.
Sonic is most likely in because of Sega and Nintendo's unprecedented partnership (3-game exclusive deal).
Snake really won't be coming back. Mark my words. Sad yes, but if he's back I will be completely surprised. He's not relevant to Nintendo. People argue 'but ugly, he was hardly relevant when Brawl came out either!' Those people are right, but the circumstances were different then. Kojima 'practically begged' to have Snake in Melee and he was put in Brawl as a favour and some kind of sign of good-will or something. Since Brawl, Snake's only contact with Nintendo has been a port of a PS2 game. Really I don't see the favour carrying over to this iteration. If Nintendo had gotten an original Metal Gear game, or hey, anything on Wii or Wii U, then he'd have a better chance. Snake's moveset can be given to someone else and edited - or some of his moves can be dispersed into new characters' sets. That, or he can just be completely dropped. That's my two cents. He was great in Brawl and really they put a lot of work into making him fanservice-y as possible. He was great and his style of play was very unique. But it is just not in Nintendo's best interest to keep him in.
There is a bigger picture here. Nintendo is not in a great position in terms of interest. MGSV is coming out for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I don't know brefbvjikovervner
I'd personally hope for that, but I'm simply going off the 6 or so hours I've gotten into FE:A so far where sword-wise Chrom seems very similar to Ike in quite a few ways. They could always integrate the pair-up system to differentiate him from the previous FE vets though.
That's honestly the lowest possible number I see us getting. Mega Man's in, Pac-Man was leaked, Sonic's a given and Snake's the only character up in the air, yet like I said cutting him would be cutting a wholly original moveset with nobody to replace it with. They did that before with Mewtwo (though he really does seem like he was supposed to be in Brawl, at least moreso than the other cut characters still on the disc) though, so there *is* a precedent. Before it comes up, I don't think MGSV not coming to the Wii U really factors in one way or the other; Snake had just as little to do with Nintendo when he was in Brawl, and part of his content even directly advertises MGS4, a PS3-exclusive.
It's ok, I'm used to it now![]()
Remeber Blazing Sword comes before Sealed Sword as well. Now that I think of it, Mystery of the Emblem and Radiant Dawn are the only games that actually take place after the previous entry in their universe. FIRE EMBLEM TIMELINE SPECULATION

I just think that it has to happen since... Namco Bandai is one who are co-working with Sora Sakurai on SSB 3DS/WiiU project.I really hope Pacman is not in this game.![]()
Mii I agree with, but Pac-Man could have a fairly interesting moveset and stage even if the character himself is fairly mundane, while Little Mac is long overdue and deserving. That'll actually be kinda disappointing, none of those characters are exciting. Snake, Sonic and Mega Man bring cool stages, items and music with them, with pac man we'll get a load of boring shit.
Where's my square enix character. ;_;

I would love to see a Dragon Quest character in. But knowing SE, they would probably try to convince Sakurai to including fuckin' Lightning in the roster, ugh(and thankfully that can't happen lol)
In the Smash Bros. Thread, everyone's beautiful. Except Ridley. He's too fat.
I really hope Pacman is not in this game.![]()

TBH, if any Square Enix character would make a good SSB fighter, I think it would be Lightning. The way she moves in the games (the original game, at least) + her moveset would be really fitting in the SSB universe, unfortunately she doesn't have much of a presence on Nintendo systems (even less than Snake), so it's highly unlikely, if they were to choose an SE character.
I guess that means you were the Brawl rooster. RIP in peace.I died.

Decided to refine my original roster guess a bit going off how I feel the roster's shaping up now we've gotten a proper look at the game. Doubt it'd be 100% correct, but after finally getting some time to play a decent amount into FE:Awakening I honestly do just see Sakurai replacing Ike with Chrom (I'd love to be wrong), appeasing people who want Mewtwo back by using his new X/Y form to also represent the new games, some sort of new Mario character (just mentally replace that empty space under Bowser with whoever) and resurrecting his axed Toon Zelda/Toon Sheik* idea to tie into WWHD and save a bit on development time (assuming anything had been started on them in Brawl). I'm a bit torn on whether Snake will stay, but ultimately due to his popularity in Brawl and the issue of having a completely original moveset being cut from Brawl to SSB4 with nobody to replace it with I'm siding with him making the jump to SSB4. Goroh's inclusion is complete wish-fulfillment but damn it F-Zero deserves a 2nd rep at this point.
*Still reckon this was supposed to be Tetra
Ridley is too large in any and all of its forms to be a Smash character.
King K. Rool is a Rare character, they retained the rights to him when they left Nintendo.
it's like you went out of your way to be wrong about every point you made besides Falcon.I guess that means you were the Brawl rooster. RIP in peace.
May as well cross out Ridley, Samurai Goroh, Pac-Man, King K. Rool, Mii Snake and Shulk.
Ridley is too large in any and all of its forms to be a Smash character.
Captain Falcon as a character was already a stretch to represent F-Zero, so... Goroh is a no.
Pac-Man is likely not a priority, Namco characters are not being granted special treatment.
King K. Rool is a Rare character, they retained the rights to him when they left Nintendo.
Snake was a one-off as a favor to Kojima. My guess is that Nintendo (and by extension, Sakurai) would rather devote time to characters that the fanbase would actually care more about, like... oh, say, Mega Man and Sonic, among other possibilities.
Shulk is the only one I'm a little shaky on, but it seems like he'd be a weak choice and would possibly come at the expense of the 2nd Fire Emblem character.
I guess that means you were the Brawl rooster. RIP in peace.
This isn't Capcom we're talking about here.Do you think the team behind the new Dojo site are careful enough to block some of the locations: http://www.smashbros.com/us/images/character/wii_fit_trainer/ for example, what if we replace wii_fit_trainer to king_k_rool (doesn't work), but just as an example.
I have tried a few, but some a different for example Bowsers character image locations are under 'koopa'.
The answer is probably no, unless someone can think of a crazy new character like wii_fit_trainer and might give it a try, they are probably uploading the data as they release it to public.
I think we only need three third party characters: Mega Man, Sonic and Pac-Man.
Less is disappointing, more is saturation.
Kick sonic out and put Bayonetta in. Does she still count as third party ?

Smash constantly dicks around with character sizes; Olimar's meant to be the size of a quarter and Bowser's been as large as buildings as recently as the NSMB and Galaxy games. Pac-man and Mii have already been strongly hinted as already being in the game as discussed earlier on this page. Rare own's jack shit over DK and K. Rool's been in tons of game's since the buyout. Snake co-existed with Sonic in Brawl, not sure why you think his inclusion would prevent somebody already in the game and somebody he co-starred alongside int he previous one. Absolutely no clue what relevance Shulk has one way or another to an FE rep.
like seriously what
3rd-party inclusions, as has been said by Sakurai, take a LOT of work to make sure everyone is happy. It's time and money better spent on other things. Especially when they could use that time with Konami to negotiate a character that the fan base would have more exposure to, like... oh, I dunno, a certain whip-wielding vampire hunter?
The relevance to Shulk's inclusion as related to a FE character is the same reason Ike will be out this time: limiting sword-wielding characters or characters with similar move sets.
He was in one of the Mario Baseball games. I think it may have been the Wii version. I also think they used Kremlings in Mario Strikers on Wii but I can't remember 100%Olimar's size is only relative to the objects and creatures around him in his own games and does not pose a problem of scale, as the only reference to size and scale within his own series is the Pikmin stage itself. Bowser has fluctuated in size to be as large as a castle and as small as he is in Smash within the Mario continuity and therefore doesn't bring a size/scale issue into things. Ridley has always been at least 10 times the size of Samus with the exception of the original NES Metroid, which was retconned in Zero Mission. So as a problem of scale, since there is a character from the same series present, Ridley would be required to shrink and would pose a severe problem of scale. I can guarantee 100% that Ridley is not on the Smash roster, I'd put an entire paycheque down on the odds being in my favor on this.
Where was this Mii and Pac-Man "leak" you speak of? I see mention of it without substantiation, and a lot of posters disputing it.
K. Rool, I'll concede my false point, thought he was part of the IP and characters created by Rare package that MS got at the acquisition. Strange he wasn't in DKCR or the newest one, though, like Nintendo is trying to write him out of existence.

The only one on the roster who gets a pass on having a similar move set anymore is Luigi. Why? Because HE'S FUCKING LUIGI, that's why, not to mention that even he doesn't play exactly the same.
I really hope to see some Xenoblade representation at all, character or stage.
Well they might just have something more to your liking. If they have three blue haired swordsmen in this game I'm gonna end someone. We need more axes.
Klonoa would be much more interestingI still dunno why people want Pac-Man.
He's sooooooo boring.
