Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

The Wifi and Vita is pissing me off immensely. I can't connect to my god damn router, yet I can connect to it when it has guest mode. ARGH. Same with the Nexus tablet too. This thing is pissing me off.

I don't see how what you've said wouldn't affect the Vita's sales in a negative way. You're still taking exclusive content and porting it to a home console and I'm far from convinced that things like Cross Buy are system sellers. As well, the whole reusing console assets to make a Vita game is exactly how Sony pitched the platform to third parties and only Ubisoft bit with Liberation.

Vita's biggest enemy is Sony, and they'll have to pay for real third party support.

What I really don't understand is the almost entire lack of multiplatform releases. Between when the PSP came out and the PS3 came out, you saw a good number of games that were out on the PS2 and PSP. And then later the Wii and PSP.

But the only real example of that I can think of is NFS: Most Wanted. I guess maybe also that Patton game, if the Vita version really exists.

I guess you could count Dragon's Crown, but that seems to be a Vita game ported to the PS3.

Sounds like you've just either got a crap wifi setup, or you've configured it wrong.

I was hearing people came off the show floor quite impressed with Vita's lineup there by the way.

Ok, I asked this earlier but didn't receive a reply.

My problem is that for some reason my PSN downloads are really slow. I get 8-10 Mb/s off Steam so it shouldn't be an ISP issue. Earlier this hasn't been a problem since I could just leave PS3 on for the night to download whatever I needed. This doesn't work with Uncharted 3. First it starts to download 3D movies, then resumes to single player game and after that I pressume the 2D movies. I don't have a 3D TV so I'd rather not bother with those at all.

1) Is there a way to select which content of a particular title you want to download? In this case obvious SP game + 2D movies?

2) Also, any tricks to make my PSN download faster?

Those were often B/C tier games that simple don't exist anymore, and the handheld tie-ins now go to iOS.

So, after the initial disappointment after the E3(I was hoping for new big exclusive title) I thought about the future:
The rest of 2013 is actually pretty packed for me.
I'm gonna get:
Rayman Legends
Tearaway
Killzone Mercenary
Jak&Daxter HD Collection
FFX/X-2 HD
GodOfWar 1/2 HD
Flower
Hotline Miami
Fieldrunners 2
Abes Odyssey New'n Tasty
TheWalkingDead

Probably gonna get:
Batman Arkham Origins
Dead Nation
Starlight Inception
Cloudberry Kingdom
Counterspy
Terraria
Runner2
FEZ
Spelunky

I have actually never played Jak 1-3, GoW 1and2, TWD, Flower, FFX/-2 or any other of those listed games.
All those games are new to me.

But of course I'm still hoping for GTA Vita, SoulCalibur Vita, Monsterhunter Vita, SSX Vita, Burnout Vita, NFS Underground 1/2 HD. And I hope that BENDs next project is on Vita.
You're actually right, I realize it doesn't look too shabby. I'll get:

Jak & Daxter: HD Trilogy
Hotline Miami
Killzone: Mercenary
Flower
Final Fantasy X-X-2/HD (is it scheduled for this year?)

And the shooting feels worse than U3.

You don't sound like you're going to like it, but IMO Uncharted on Vita just about requires the gyro aiming. Once it clicks it's an awesome way to play. But at first it's not going to feel right. You basically just aim like you normally would with the sticks and then put a little ending touch in with the gyro to finesse the headshot. It works surprisingly well.

Vita's biggest enemy is Sony, and they'll have to pay for real third party support.

So... increasing the amount of 1 or 2 year exclusive titles to the platform (while it's in it's growing phase), and growing series into multi-title media-blitz (much like Nintendo does with much of it's catalogue between 3DS and Wii) would make the Vita sell LESS, in these "early" years?

If Sony wants to prove anything to Third Parties, in these days, it'd help to make an example of it themselves. I wish they'd treat the Vita similar to how Hudson treated the TG16 back in the day: They developed their own style games of just about every genre, and put them on the system, while awaiting other pubs to follow suit.

Anyway, I agree that it'd be bad for the Vita to just get ported games, if they were release really close together. But with distance and time, I think all it does is grow the audience for a brand. MH getting a console release later down the road doesn't prevent it from being a successful game on portable before that. New Super Mario Bros. Being on DS doesn't kill the chances to release a Wii or Wii U version later in the series life.

I at least wish Sony could get Devs to make 15-dollar download exclusive-style titles, too, not just indies, but also smaller publishers, and maybe the big ones, too. Things similar to Blood Dragon and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger could be the perfect level of graphic quality / gameplay / cost to give the system a steady stream of titles. I am glad Ubi tried with Aveline in ACL, and like the way they've basically launched a character through that game, who'se even going to appear in Black Flag; more of this kind of thing should be happening, if not from 3rd parties yet, then from basically everything Sony themselves releases.

What I really don't understand is the almost entire lack of multiplatform releases. Between when the PSP came out and the PS3 came out, you saw a good number of games that were out on the PS2 and PSP. And then later the Wii and PSP.

Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, and maybe Virtua Tennis 4, to a lesser extent.

At any rate, even if not ports, I find it hard to believe they couldn't put SOMETHING on the system. All those "What if modern games were 8/16/32 Bit" style games, turned to life, and made as Vita companion games, would be better than absolutely NOTHING to go along with big releases.

Shahid apart i agree, at least scea it's vita enemy for sure, and sce(or whatever the name) not taking measures against scea for its vita work is equally at fault.

I have all kinds of games I am buying this year for Vita. It's a great year. I'm just worried about the year after.

Now, guys, Rayman Legends. I seriously cannot WAIT for this. Rayman Origins had 66 levels, and it was enormous. It took me 12-15 hours to beat that game. Now, listen to THIS. Rayman Legends has ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY LEVELS. That's almost twice what Origins, which was already a huge game, had. This is just astonishing. Every level we've seen looks awesome and well-done. That delay was the best thing to happen to it, because the game was originally going to be about the same size as Origins when it was just coming to Wii U.

In addition to that, there's the online challenge mode. It's SO FUN. I have it on Wii U right now (they released the challenge mode as a standalone on Wii U for free to make Wii U owners feel better about the massive delay). It's a blast. New challenges every day and it's brilliant asynchronous fun.

Guys, this game is going to be INCREDIBLE.

120 levels? Almost makes me not want to buy it cuz I'm never gonna finish the game lol.

.

I'm on the other side, for me aside from,Teraway ,KZ:M, and Dragon's Crown(this one a multiplat and most likely will be better on PS3) there is nothing else for me, and Batman don't look good.

as for next year, yeah..this E3 told us all we want to know about Vita future. :(

My friend, COME ON. You have to get this. It's too good. You'll find that it's so amazing that you just can't stop playing, and then you'll be happy that you won't to stop because there's so much in there!

Batman looks very promising. Graphically impressive, and made by a bunch of the guys who did the Metroid Prime games. I'm excited to see more about it. KZ and Tearaway are no-brainers. Rayman Legends, again, a no-brainer. And then there are a lot of indie games that are either new or ones I haven't played before that I want. So yeah, great year for Vita, in my opinion.

dunno, but Hopefully SCEA give Santa Monica guys free copies (Vita or PS3 version) for them to remember how to make fun GOW games again (not crap like GOW:A)
Hopefully they are Cross-Buy, so Plus owners will get 1 HD free if they picked it up on PS3 in February.

Semi-related: odd that there was no mention of Sly HD (even as an 'also...') at E3 when we've already seen it listed (and rated? I forget).

I am really really curious about Valhalla knights 3. Hopefully that game will turn out good.

first two games were horrible, I don't think VK3 will be any different.

it's just sad that Marvelous picked VK3 for the west instead of Senran Versus(which is actually good).

The problem with Senran Versus is that Kotaku (and you-know-who) will have a field day shitting on it and all the companies involved because of the boobies.

I'm fairly sure you said that last year, and look what happened.

I just hope they don't put boring things like relics. Even getting 300 lums wasn't very interesting to me, level design wise. The time trials were more fun.

But yeah, whatever I say, I'm excited about this Legends.

Dragon's crown on vita... OMG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1oXU6WdKgI

Oh man i really LOVE the sorceress voice!
the wizard moaning is unbearable imo
I hope the amazon has a good english voice too.

I love how much video of this we got out of E3. Probably one of the best results of the show.

The slower, "what the heck am I doing?!?" movement of many of the players hints well to the fact that the game seems to have some decent depth, and it should be a joy to watch experienced teams wreck screen after screen with Carnage.

The Melee's look fun, but I really want to see a good Elf in action now, too...

valhalla knights 3 from e3

i could deal with an elder scroll with similar graphics.

Pinky Sports PSMobile has reached Vita retail!

So glad this is getting a disk release; This looks like the kind of thing I wouldn't wanna constantly keep memory tied up for, but as a slow "Hmmmm. that's interesting!" style title, it might be fun.

At least the "ecchi" parts of the game aren't a 100% focus of the title, unlike...

it's just sad that Marvelous picked VK3 for the west instead of Senran Versus(which is actually good).

It's just sad the game presents itself in a way that makes it near impossible to localize, ha. I feel no sadness towards it; The very things that keep it from the West are probably the very things that made it a bigger hit than expected in the East, so it evens out.

Fans will just have to spend their Life looking for a new Hometown, or... something... though, the Vita's lack of big media attention probably gives the game a greater chance of seeing release, than if the system was always in the public eye...

So Love Live for Vita is created by Dingo, hmm...

*Blank Stare*.... Ok, so it's an anime series... that's licensed by NISA America, eh? Would NISA be interested in bringing their game over?

I'm guessing this is kinda K-On / Idolm@ster like?

When I get FFX-2 for Vita I don't care what else releases. Can't stand waiting.

I keep wondering if I wanna try X-2 again... loved the game, started dodging lightning bolts, frustration, never looked back, lol. Still would buy for the sake of Rikku... Though I don't look forward to seeing how much space the game will take on a memory card...
