Why do alot of people hate kanye?

I don't know what he is really like, but If you act like a douchebag, then people are going to view you as a douchebag.

Ironic considering MLK's personal life.

You can, but that isn't even what YEEZUS does. More of his samples come from lost/bside soul/R&B tracks. Most dudes who sample got crates of long lost artists and tracks long gone and probably thought lost to time.

I'm not saying you literally can't, i'm just saying to me I'm not considering your shit a hit if it already was a hit. But yeah Kanye has been on both sides of the issue especially early on in his career, but over time his samples did get more obscure.

Well, it's taking a powerful and iconic speech in history and having Kanye interrupting it. That is the joke. What MLK may or may not have done in his personal life, does to not undermine the significance of the speech itself.

I understand the joke. What I'm saying is that time has shown that MLKs work is what is remembered, not his infidelity. It's possible that after kanyes career is over, the music is what will be remembered, not his eccentric antics.

Your little caption to the picture is what makes it ironic

Yup
Rapping about the prison industrial complex is him reaching

He doesn't actually have anything to say about it, he just references it. It's a "We didn't start the fire" level attempt to convince similarly shallow people that he's socially relevant. He's not very smart.

Kanye West isn't smart? Ok keep telling yourself that.

Him and his actions make him an easy guy to hate.

Truth of the matter is you probably aren't going to be able to change the minds of the non believers. All artists have their haters. It's part of the game.

I think he makes some great music. I don't know him personally. I'd like to but that will most likely never happen unless he needs a computer engineer for some odd reason.

design a synthesizer or write a VST plugin and you'll be sipping kool-aid on a boat with Kanye in no time. I believe in you.

This screams ignorance
I can tell you haven't heard an album from him

Hah, are you serious?

Just so we're straight with this, I was 13/14 when college dropout released and like so many others ate that shit up. I was willing to listen to him up until 808 until I moved on, haven't considered myself a fan since - especially since broadening my musical interests; Discarding shite like Kanye was one of the defining moments.

I won't deny I enjoyed it when I was younger but I've no need for his sound. I actually don't listen to any mainstream rapper aside from to sample and confirm what I already know about their offerings.

His new CD is about as far from "mainstream pop for the masses" as you can get from a big-name artist.

I can kind of see what you mean, but if anything from what I've listened to from it - he seems to be riding the same heavily electronic, possibly southern trap/guetta vibe that's already been developing for a while, and to me there's no content here. I wouldn't put it that far beyond the mainstream, as over the years prior they've been slowly acclimating to these sounds. (Their favourite being autotune+voice filters, coincidentally also Kanye's)

Besides, slap Kanye's name on it and many will be if nothing else, willing to absorb.

Btw, UGH. listening to I'm in it from Yeezus, UGH. Autotune. UGH.

He's an egotistical, self centered, douche. He's seemed to be fine a few years ago, then his mom died, he became an even bigger star, and he hasn't been the same since. Can't hate his music though and there are bigger douches than him in the music industry that are pretty successful.

Based on my Facebook feed, you might be wrong :p

Who knows how it'll be viewed after everyone has had time to digest it, though.

Because he's an arrogant, talentless hack.

lol no.

It's funny that most people that hate Kanye don't even hate him because of his music, which is absolute fire. Or if they hate his music, it's mainly because of his persona and listening to it reminds them of their hatred of his distinct personality. But it's never on the actual music itself.

Sorta like the Drake haters.

Nah Drake sucks.

People can believe whatever the hell they like, that's good. We live in a free society, but to me imo he's a technically bad singer and with generic pop lyrics that plague the industry he's got the entire package of everything wrong with mainstream hip-hop. There are outliers of course but he's definitely not one of them.

I honestly have nothing against the persona he puts up. I mean I like Floyd Mayweather and his whole deal is playing the villain. As far as his music goes, I stopped going out of my way to listen to his shit after Late Registration. Not that his newer stuff is bad, but I just don't care about his music enough to buy a new CD or even to "borrow" the music from a friend.

because he's a jackass. A jackass that makes some decent music, but still a jackass.

also swiftgate will forever tarnish how he's precieved by everybody.

At one point in time NWA's sound was everything that was wrong with hip hop. Now they're hip hop legends. At one point in time Dr. Dre's The Chronic was everything that was wrong with hip hop. Now it's a classic.

Th guy's an asshole. I mean, c'mon let's be honest. Many talented artists are awful people outside of their art. Kanye is hardly the only one and he won't be the last.

I do think one should be able to separate someone from their art, though. Kanye's first two albums are classic for me, even though I think he's a douche. But hey, people are free to feel how they like. There's nothing requiring people to like Kanye West.

And I doubt he cares. The dude sells millions every time he puts out an album, has total creative freedom with his music and has people lining up to work with him, is rich as fuck, and has already successfully impregnated his fine ass girlfriend. He's livin man.

dark twisted fantasy is one of my all-time favorite albums, i'm a huge fan, ect ect... and this is coming from somebody who has no interest in rap otherwise

but he really is a genuine jackass. maybe he's doing the andy kaufman thing, i dunno.
