Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Donkey Kong just looks so charming in all the images I've seen. Letting his mouth open more often does wonders for making him funnier.

I've been very impressed by the asthetic and graphics of the newley announced Wii U games. I will be excited to buy mine next year for DK, Kart, Smash, Pikmin and 3D Worlds
Oh man I gotta start making a list of Wii U games to get when I get one.

Smash Bros.
Wind Waker HD
Pikmin 3
DKCTF
Mario Kart 8
X
Wonderful 101
Bayonetta 2
Yakuza 1+2 HD Collection
Sonic Lost World

That ought to justify the purchase.

Wow how did I forget about WW HD and W 101? Also played sonic at E3 and had a blast.

Damn, now Im getting excited about Wii U.. just ya know Wii U circa '14

The PS3 version of the HD collection has been out for a while though (also Japan only) so I thought, since he's still getting the collection only now, maybe he wasn't aware it's not coming out in English.

Not sure if it was posted, but the Wii Fit Trainer got some hi-res art from the press kit now.
YESSS! I've been periodically doing Google Image searches for high-res PNG versions of the Wii Fit Trainer render. Nintendo FINALLY released it! Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention -- right-click, and SAVED. :)

I think that SSB Wii U TP Link looks no same to SSBB TP Link because I think that they were not capable to get that hairstyle like this.

This doesn't look like as above image shows.

I love love love how SSB4 is more colorful than Brawl. I think it's even more colorful than Melee.

I agree. I was impresed by Brawl's graphic, but I admit that I prefer the more "colorful" approach that SSB4 has.
Btw, about some complaints on Wii U latest graphics: just admit that some Wii games were great, and toned down just by the sub-resolution ;p

I'm impressed how 4 Link's chain-mail is clearly separate from the shirt, while in Brawl it's just a texture change.

They look a lot more like detailed, shiny new figurines fitting the toy motif I guess?

They need to make Smash Brothers character figures irl.

In fact SmaBros has always been very related to figures. You can see that Sakurai like figs a lot.
But the original Smash Bros on N64 had a "story" based on the master hand and all the heroes being figures coming to life or something. Not to mention trophies in Melee.
And this same Melee had a trailer/intro who started with Mario figure coming to life and fight.
I believe that's the main gimmick of the entiere series. But for a fighting game that's not really important, but it can explain things.

Diminishing Returns: The Game. A clear improvement, but damn do Brawl's character models hold up very, very well in a side-by-side comparison.

At this point it just gets more and more refined. Especially Pikachu and Kirby. I thought they took those two as far as they could go back in Melee, but I can still see the improvements at each step. This one is definitely the lighting, especially on Kirby.

Bowser damn near matches the CGI version of him they use all the time in appearance.

What's going to be really cool to see is the trophies that don't have to account for being rendered at 60fps & 4 or more principal characters being on screen at once.

So is there no Dojo blog? Just the website? I like clicking and seeing if there are any new posts. It was one of my favorite thing about Brawl...

Here's a second batch of comparisons. I would have played in Smashville for more of them for a more authentic replication, but I figured it would be a moot point since my Smashville is already dark compared to the the daytime official images. Here is the first batch for those who may have missed it.

I remember way back at when SSB: Brawl got revealed, that all the characters saw their models improved, while Kirby almost didn't. This time, Kirby is one of the characters who got enhanced the most: great pink, perfectly rounded. Bowser is another one who stands out a lot: his back is "simpler", but also at a much better resolution (and its skin is a clear improvement). Pikachu is another character that has improved greatly, both polygon-wise and color-wise. Samus has a completely different model, so we can't do a direct comparison with her Brawl's appearance. Right now, Fox is the character who hasn't seen big changes so far: Mario is more rounded, Link is more detailed and DK has a better fur (as well as better face and better eyes).

And it's always good to state how the colors are great this time.

Why is it that whenever I click the Smash Bros. youtube account, I kept getting redirected to Nintendo?

If there is one person who doesn't know a thing about Smash Brothers, it's Sakurai.

Yeah, fuck the fanbase for that.

Wii remote sucks with this game.
4 Wii U tablets are very costly.
1 Wii U tablet and 3 Wii remotes is unfair for the Wii remote users.

Does the Wii U support game Cube controllers?

Only 2 Wii U tablets can connect to a single Wii U, unless that was changed. Wiimotes sound like a wretched way to play, the only recourse would be Wii U Pro Controllers.

How can 4 players play this game? what kind of controllers will the 4 players use?

Wii U Pro Controller?

Mote + chuck?

Most people will probably go with the Protroller.

If you really want to, there's adapters out there that let a GameCube controller act as a Classic Controller.

Man. that means I have to buy 4 Pro or classic controllers? that is a big investment.

The Gamepad is actually pretty comfortable when held so I'm sure one person would be fine using it. Other than that though you'll need to scrounge up three other controllers for anyone else, since the Wii U doesn't have any Gamecube ports on it.

Just like you had to buy more controllers for every previous Smash?

You can't blame people.
They were able to play melee and brawl with GC controllers. While that shouldn't have even happened in the first place due to the regular way consoles work. It was still pretty amazing.

Hell if Nintendo wants to make more money on controls they release a SMASH pro controller that's more like the GC pad.

Previously, I didn't need to buy new controllers for smash. I used Game cube controllers for Melee & Brawl.

Imagine this with any other console, lol. "What do you mean I have to buy new 360 controllers in order to play multiplayer? I should be able to use my old xbox controller!" Being unable to use the previous generation's controller on a newer console isn't something anyone should be surprised by. At least we can use Wii remotes!

That's fair enough but the Gamecube is close to ten years old at this point, it was only a matter of time before they got phased out. That adapter looks pretty snazzy at least.
