Only played for about half an hour but Jak 1 seems pretty good. Camera is annoying as fuck (although maybe that's just a part of the game in general and not specific to Vita version). I'm completely oblivious to anything in terms of framerate, but it's completely playable. Had no problems with it so far.
Also, it's pretty good fun, even though i have no idea where i'm supposed to be going or what i'm supposed to be doing
I have played for about 45 minutes or so on the Vita and confirm all of these impressions as well. All those issues do exist in the original, but the game still manages to retain the fun it had. I am not always big into collectables in games, but I cannot explain why I get so much enjoyment collecting those orbs here.
i dont want to buy it yet, why is it so hard to not buy it yet???
Buy it and give your impressions, that will delay me actually picking it up as I will wait for at least one more persons impressions of the game.

Camera is awful in 1 and, as someone that isn't usually too fussed about frame rates, I think the general playing FPS are a bit poo. Better to play that one on the PS3 I think.
Jak 2 seems fine though. Not tried 3 yet.

Found this article from Jeremy Parish praising the Vita and focusing on Spelunky and 1001 spikes.
First time I heard of 1001 spikes but now I want it on my Vita and Spelunky cant come fast enough.

He should have kept the title of that article as "My Little Vita Can't Possibly be This Homicidal".Found this article from Jeremy Parish praising the Vita and focusing on Spelunky and 1001 spikes.

I still wish they'd port Tempura of the Dead, rather than 1001 Spikes. I do wonder how they decided on THAT being the game to take to other consoles...
Hotline Miami and Velocity Ultra a week after?
IT BEGINS!
Velocity Ultra is 2 weeks after.
Hotline Miami is next week, 6/25.
The week after is 7/2.
Velocity Ultra is 7/9.
True dat. And if they released a new game in the series that your avatar is featured from, the Vita would justify its existence a thousand times over alone right there.
Shining Force IV on Vita would be glorious, but alas I doubt Sega even cares about making a new entry; and no, all those Shining spin-offs do not count![]()
This will be like the third or fourth time I buy it lolall you people waiting for hotline miami to go free can eat a bag of dicks.
hotline miami better sell gangbusters, as it'll show more devs how profitable it is to port their games over to the vita.
Nope, Velocity Ultra is indeed coming 7/2.

Well, I'm the opposite. I think if more people wait for it to be "free", it will send the proper message - that Vita owners are okay with late ports of games, but only when they are priced reasonably.
I mean, $10 for a game that has been in a humble bundle? We see this again and again. Why is it that Vita owners are deemed to be so rich they can throw away $10-15 for all these ports?
That's what I really think hurts the Vita. Who really wants to pay that much more for games after you've? It needs competitive pricing. And PS+ does that. Not ideally, since it's like Netflix, more of a rental service, but still...
If people are going to buy games at full price, they should do it with original Vita games, or almost original ones, like Velocity Ultra.

Lol have fun, going in blind is awesome, it's how I startedgot 10$ in psn credit waiting for the perfect game to spend it on... and i think HM is it. going in almost 100% blind too.

just found this as a new challenge - not sure if its worth starting over... hmm
in vita news - i cant wait - the spring drought is over and things are looking up for the vita!

More impressions of Jak and Daxter.
The first wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's very much sub native rez and looks it, which is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Although the framerate isn't great, it's not like Q-Force which was unplayably awful. The camera in J&D 1 was always bad anyway, so I found a majority of my problems with it were more generally game based than down to janky framerates. I've never liked Jak 2 and I found it about as reasonable as Jak 1 in terms of port quality. It looks shoddy too and it feels stodgy, but at least Jak 1 has a bit of vibrancy too it. Jak 2's slightly more dour aesthetic made it quite unpleasant to play and highlighted a lot of graphical shortcomings. Not touched Jak 3 yet. I'd say if you go in with low expectations for Jak 1 it's not critically crap. In short bursts, taken in isolation, it's playable and just about technically passable. For long periods it'll leave you with a headache and a deep sense of regret.
Epic Mickey on the other hand was a surprise. For 12 quid I was expecting shovelware. What I got was a very solid port of a deeply average game. It looks great. The video, in particular, is very good with minimal artifacting, which is a pleasant surprise after stuff like Resistance and Sly 4. It's not actually a very good game, for sure, and it's a two player game with the co-op pulled out (possible over ad-hoc, but the likelyhood of two Vitas with Epic Mickey 2 running on them? Low) but in general terms for 12 quid it's a bargain. For 29 dollars or whatever it is on the US store.... well, I'd hesitate perhaps, but it's still a pleasant surprise.
For me it's less to do with the high cost of a new port and more to do with how late they're coming. I already own Spelunky on 360, as I do Fez, as I do 1001 Spikes, so I'm not going to pick those up, although they're great. Hopefully Vita ports come sooner from here on.
Gotta finish 999 before VLR comes out on PS+, though![]()

With indie devs I don't mind supporting them multiple times if the game is good. I never bought Spelunky or Fez, as I hate my 360, and I'm glad I didn't since those developers seem to not be thrilled with the way MS treated them and other indie developers. Hopefully Sony does a better job with them.

How is it? Do you enjoy it? That is honestly all that matters at the end of the day.

1001 spikes looks good.
Hopefully if it does well, they'll bring Tempura of the Dead too.
Oh yeah, it looks good (especially since they've gone back and added an Tempura-like Opening to the game, and it seems to be better-produced overall), I'm just kinda surprised they'd go for an endless suicide-fest before a unique tag-team action game. Maybe it's because the 1-man creator of the game felt he had more to refine with this? -shrug-
Glad to see he and Nicalis get the game on more systems though; easily one of the high points of XBLIG releases.
I wonder if it'll keep it's insanely low price ($1 on XBLIG, $3 for Tempura, for those who didn't know), or if they'll charge more, thanks to a middleman + more development?
More importantly... Europe has physical PSN download cards? I've never seen them in the US.https://twitter.com/HotlineMiami/status/348226268858310656/photo/1
So is this just a Hotline Miami pre-order or what?
Oh yeah, you get those from GAME in the UK. They'll basically just give you a code on a receipt or via email/text.More importantly... Europe has physical PSN download cards? I've never seen them in the US.
Do they ever go on sale? It would be awesome to get digital games for cheap.Oh yeah, you get those from GAME in the UK. They'll basically just give you a code on a receipt or via email/text.
Usually PS360 stuff. Never seen it for Vita stuff.
Also, £7.29 on PSN, £6.49 in store? lol
Then again I'm staunchly anti-indie and need to be convinced it's worth my while to put money down on an indie title.

I don't think they do, but they're usually a little cheaper (as seen with Hotline Miami). Borderlands 2 DLC on a card from GAME is like £5 cheaper than buying off it off PSN/XBL. GAME rarely do sales on anything unless they're about to go out of business, lol.Do they ever go on sale? It would be awesome to get digital games for cheap.
