Parent's home? I wish, then I wouldn't have so many bills. And I'd have a pool that wasn't inflatable.

And in case you missed the last decade or so, the job market isn't so great. I'm lucky I have what I do, but if you can find me something better, I'd much appreciate it..

And beyond that, it's funny you bring up large corporations, yet isn't that exactly the case here? Why are so called "indie games" so dependent on large corporations like Sony and Microsoft?

It's funny how indie games get so much love here, yet indie consoles like the Ouya get so much hate.

Download Penguin Party from PS Mobile. It's a real indie game, and original, no one paid for the port to the Vita. It's free, the only catch is that if you like it, you can make a donation to the devs
 
Hotline Miami is incredible. I hate labeling things as "indie" because it puts you in a certain mindset. Games are games, and for $9.99, Hotline Miami is a seriously awesome game. 'dat soundtrack.
 
Toukiden still feels a bit too slow for my tastes, but the new demo is much better than the previous one. I'm finding it very difficult to go back to the sub-native resolution games on my main account now. :/

I honestly don't understand how Omega Force can pull that kind of stuff off. Tecmo Koei have been looking it with Atelier and Dynasty Warriors. I haven't played the demo, but it's an exciting blind buy.

As for the speed, I'm fine with that. We aren't getting Monster Hunter so something more methodical in that vein helps differentiate it from Soul Sacrifice (only one more Avalon Pact to go!).

Word, I saw the PSP versus Vita screens for Toukiden from the new demo and DAMN is there a world of difference, Omega Force delivering as usual.

And @DiscoJer, some people enjoy indies on the Vita, and some may also heavily criticize the Ouya, and these two groups may or may not have an overlap (haven't seen any Vitabros in Ouya threads but I don't go into many) and a prime reason for that is because like most games and genres, not all indie games are made equal, Sturgeon's Law and whatnot.

Lots of the Ouya's titles are mobile/android games while on the Vita many ports are coming from the PC (Hotline Miami, Terraria, Binding of Issac, Frozen Synapse, Spelunky etc.) and the ports coming to Vita are more critically acclaimed and well liked then the mobile games coming to Ouya, now whether or not that's a fair assumption is subjective, but the fact is we're not just buying games cuz vidja games. 10$ is the same as it is on PC so we're not paying some odd button-tax like for some other games, and for the happy peeps Hotline Miami is a game that's worth 10$ for them, unlike say Limbo at 15$ which meet much more negative reception.

IMO: I don't know who the Ouya is for. It is an underpowered Android device with a controller. Install Bluestacks on a PC and..there you go! That software is free.
If you want a plug-and-play low-price toy..why not get a Raspberry Pi? Why not just buy a cheap Android phone to play Android games?

Ouya is useless :x

That said, I'm still disappointed Sony didn't capitalize on Xperia Play, and the native integration of 3G on some Vita models, by running a sandboxed locked-down version of Android on it. Access to the entire Android library of games, homebrew (and homebrew creation) accessibility, a decent UI, it could have been so perfect..

Why is it that everything else using the back touch works perfectly fine except the knife? It seems that even if I just tap the screen, Snake stabs. >:/

$10 is the retail price for Hotline: Miami. I see nothing wrong with that as the price, out of the gate, especially considering it is a cross-buy/save game as well. I intend to send a proper message that I support these types of games, with these features added, at that price point.

Indeed, I probably played through 5 or so times on that one. I liked that they added a few little things to it as well.

If it was $10 with no cross-buy, that'd be some bullshit. But at $5 a game? That's a pretty good deal with the cross-save, addition of trophies, new content, etc.

Velocity Ultra I'm a bit pissy about because it's been almost 8 weeks since it released in EU and it was already free on PS+ there. That's the kind of bullshit we shouldn't be supporting (whether the fault lay with SCEA or Futurlab, who knows?).

The first wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's very much sub native rez and looks it, which is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. Although the framerate isn't great, it's not like Q-Force which was unplayably awful. The camera in J&D 1 was always bad anyway, so I found a majority of my problems with it were more generally game based than down to janky framerates. I've never liked Jak 2 and I found it about as reasonable as Jak 1 in terms of port quality. It looks shoddy too and it feels stodgy, but at least Jak 1 has a bit of vibrancy too it. Jak 2's slightly more dour aesthetic made it quite unpleasant to play and highlighted a lot of graphical shortcomings. Not touched Jak 3 yet. I'd say if you go in with low expectations for Jak 1 it's not critically crap. In short bursts, taken in isolation, it's playable and just about technically passable. For long periods it'll leave you with a headache and a deep sense of regret.

Epic Mickey on the other hand was a surprise. For 12 quid I was expecting shovelware. What I got was a very solid port of a deeply average game. It looks great. The video, in particular, is very good with minimal artifacting, which is a pleasant surprise after stuff like Resistance and Sly 4. It's not actually a very good game, for sure, and it's a two player game with the co-op pulled out (possible over ad-hoc, but the likelyhood of two Vitas with Epic Mickey 2 running on them? Low) but in general terms for 12 quid it's a bargain. For 29 dollars or whatever it is on the US store.... well, I'd hesitate perhaps, but it's still a pleasant surprise.

While I don't disagree with anything stated on the Jak games, I do think there is a fun factor to J&D that definitely existed back in the day and still seems to translate well in this port. J&D1 is more than just a 'pick up and play for a few minutes at a time' type game to me. Definitely worth picking up and playing through for it alone so far.

Aye, along with Nun Attack and even Jacob Jones, as well. It's actually pretty nice there's so many quality sub-10 dollar games on Vita... Especially when you add on the best of Playstation mobile.

Yeah. Add your credit card to the store and you can charge the exact amount you're missing. ;)

You could try to add funds via Paypal... I don't remember if they let you do anything less than $10 there though.

Problem is I live in Malaysia, and they don't let you use credit cards outside of the US for the US PSN store.

I guess I have to wait next month :/
 
Been playing State of Decay (good game get it on XBLA or just wauit for the Steam version), I really think Sony don't get an open world zombie survival game on Vita, this genre really fit handheld and I'd like to play co-op survival from zombies at workplace.

Techland can make a zombie survival game per week for just 2 cans of tuna.

You need to open a PayPal account with a U.S. address (a basic account will do) that you can use exclusively to fund your PSN account. Once you have it, just transfer funds from your regular PayPal account to that new one.

Then when you try to fund your PSN account from that one it will work.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jak 1. I think it's the best of the trilogy. I'm only saying I can only play it for short bursts on the Vita because of a mix of the port jankyness and the fact my tolerance for bad third person cameras has declined since I originally played back on the PS2.

I tried Jak 3 as well, and my summary of the three is essentially:

Jak 1 - vibrant, terrible port but still playable despite of that.
Jak2 - dour, terrible port, bad game
Jak 3 - seems the best of the three technically, looks decent, but still a bad port.

They're all more playable than I feared, but I'll only probably play 1 and 3 again. 2 can run in front of a bus.

In terms of Epic Mickey 2 - I'm comparing it to the Wii version, so perhaps the 360/PS3 versions are better, but compared to the Jak Collection it's a thoughtful port which oozes quality. It's still not a very good game, but I think it's an excellent conversion. I guess an accusation that by buying it you're just buying games for games sake is fair enough, but I now have a card loaded with Sly 4, the Jak Collection, Epic Mickey, Chima and Batman 2 which will be enough to keep the kids entertained for a huge drive I have next month.

Nah, it's alright, I'll just spend the next week trying to clear other games.

I just feel the need to play a Final Fantasy game, and since FFIV is the only big name FF that I haven't played yet, thought that I might as well install it onto my Vita. It can wait, seeing I only have a week more until I get my paycheck :D

I think that is required when authenticating your account with a credit card or something like that. But with a basic account (that has a sending limit I believe), all you need is a US address. I'm my case I just use the address of a friend who lives there. I have never needed to enter any more info than that.

I'm also playing FFIX (end of disc 2 so far). A few days ago I just felt like revisiting my favorite FFs. Hopefully I'll have time for IV and VI before FF X HD is released. ;)

Just woke up and what is with the hotline Miami hate?

It's a fantastic game with amazing music and is the same price for cross buy ps3/psv as it is for the one PC version.

Plus it has trophies etc. seems like a great deal to me

Some people don't want to pay full price for a game because it's been included in the Humble Bundle or on Steam sale in the past, not realising $10 is the PC version's full price and those were just, well, sales...

The PSN version also has an exclusive mask that turns everything but blood black and white. I assume it has combat effects, too, but just that is pretty cool.

from reading some posts, it's about the price of it not its quality.

but it's $9 on steam right now as well and it's not it's a full priced port of an 4 years old Wii game or anything.

If Vita owners will hold buying stuff because it went super cheap on PC/Amazon DD/Steam then... well good luck playing anything.
 
I don't see the problem with Hotline Miami's price. It's not like they're selling it for $14.99 (Limbo). The $5 difference is a factor. I feel $9.99 is more than reasonable.. They could go $7.99, but those expecting lower, need to realize this is a different market. We'll never get Steam prices on handhelds and consoles.

That and Limbo is old. Hotline Miami is probably less than a year old.

Uk people I just tried to buy hotline miami in game and it wouldn't spit the code out the till so they had to give me a refund back to waiting *sigh*

In super tempted to go and grab a £120 pre owned Vita. No idea why.

Any good deals to beat that, guess ill need a memory add and a year of PSN+ too.

I was thinking of just bailing into CEX.

Limbo is 15$, multiple years old, and outside of art style not that great.

Hotline Miami is 10$, less than a year old, and one of the 5 best games released last year.

Basically means I will never play it unless it is on plus, or gets incredibly high reviews across the board.

The only full price game I've bought digitally is P4g, and that is a remake of my favorite game of all time.

I guess that make sense, since it's not out until Wednesday. Might need to wait until Wednesday or Thursday.

At least it's a code for the game. Some people on Twitter were saying you 'just get credit for the game'.

That's the sad part, this isn't even a Steam prices issue. It's cheaper for this version. You get two copies for two systems with cross saves.
