As if he could've done what he wanted on the 360... lawl.
Boom.
Still like Quiet's outfit. Yeah it is sexy but still kind of badass, methinks.
MGS4 has Ray vs Rex.
MGS4 wins.
They really nailed that. It really stood out to me when I replayed the game a while ago.
So satisfying to smash those two together.
People often forget scenes like this when talking about MGS4. It's a schizophrenic mess, but damn if isn't an epic one at that.

Awwww yissss. Someone who saw the light!
But anyway, even if you think MGS4 has a terrible story and terrible bosses...I mean mechanically speaking, everything was awesome. Games for me, should be games first and foremost and when MGS4 was a game, it was a great one. I don't even care about their backstory, the BB Corps were kickass robochicks who slaughtered a streetful of people and went on to do crazy, well directing crap before getting into crazy fights with Old Snake.
It's just over the top fun. Take Raging Raven. I don't care if she had the same story as the other BBs nor is it important. But that whole little moment where she rants about Snake "showing his rage" while cracking her neck? That was awesome. MGS4 was full of little touches like that. I mean really, it's a bunch of hot chicks in animal themed robot suits. That's awesome. Sure it makes no freaking sense but as far as videogame bosses go, it was all stellar stuff.
Shadow Moses not having human guards and stuff and breaking canon and whatever? I was too busy thinking that Raiden fighting Vamp on top of a Metal Gear was too awesome for words, to care about that. Call me shallow! I don't care!
Like this, except it would be playableOh, how I wonder what the actual first vision of MGS4 would have turned out like had the PS3 had the specs that were initially intended and aimed for. It's something we'll never get to know about for sure though, unfortunately.
Can someone help me find the song or the name of the song that is played in the first 2 minutes of the extended trailer? The one where she is humming I guess?

I just mean in the sense of would it still feel as disjointed in spots, would there still be some limiting gameplay elements (as ether_snake mentioned about one of the last levels), if the story and how it was told would have been the same, etc.
I'm curious how much they had done for the PS3+ before they had to just say "scew it!" and start over again to make the game on the final PS3 hardware.
Oh, that. No, I doubt it would feel as disjointed because Kojima had the vision for it in his mind, he didn't have to pull something out of his ass at the last minute to accommodate the lowered specs. It would have definitely been a very different game for sure.
Kojima mentioned it in the PowerPoint presentation he did a few years ago, the lowered specs changed the game drastically.
I mean, the actual game looks absolutely nothing like the first 2 trailers. You watched them as expected the game to be an all-out war in the middle-east, and you chase Liquid though the war zones. Not to mention the focus on scarce ammo, the depressing atmosphere and so forth. You can claim this is all speculation, but MGS trailers always give you a sense of what the actual game will be like.
MGS 4 is bad by itself, but it is especially bad when compared to the first trailers.
Oh it's part of Sins of the Father? Is there a version that's not ripped from the trailer?

That first trailer is really something to behold, even by today's standards. Is there like a clear cut answer for what Kojima was told the PS3 would be and what he got, in terms of specs?
Do you have link for that presentation? It would be interesting to read up on the development process.
Seems like it was quite a mess.
You don't even know what your own point was. Kojima running to MS because Sony messed up the PS3 specs, implying MS had a much more capable machine. K.
So the only MGS game I ever played was the original a very long time ago. I'm confused as to who this character is in the MGSV trailer. Is it the same character from the first game?
Oh, I know what my point was, you missing my point is unfortunate, but I don't waste my time with console warriors.

It's Big Boss, Solid Snake and Liquid Snake (and Solidus)'s father. It's whom they were cloned after and who Liquid Snake keeps referring to in MGS1.
Console warriors? I'm beginning to think you're just trying to troll me for not liking Rising.
Explain your point, hurry, come up with something coherent.
No, it's the original Snake. Solid Snake was a Big Boss clone, code name Naked Snake.
If you're interested, try getting the HD collection. It has MGS2, 3 and Peace Walker which should help you understand everything. Oh and they're good games =P

Ah - that makes much more sense now why they look so similar. Getting that HD collection doesn't sound like a bad idea...
Something coherent? Kid, you're the only incoherent poster around here. Nowhere did I state that the PS3 has better or worse specs than the Xbox 360. Let it go.
The fact that you assume this is what I meant by my comment just screams to me that you are, in fact, a console warrior.
K.
And don't tell me to hurry, I don't owe you shit. You're lucky I'm in a mood to toy with you.
If you are on PS3, there's the Legacy Collection coming up (July 9...I think) with the entire canon series on it.
Also a great buy!
But if you want to keep the spending low, HD Collection is still pretty good. MGS2, 3 and Peace Walker.
MG and MG2 which are the original Solid Snake games for the MSX.
If you're getting it for the 360 and want to complete Peace Walker, let me know. I'm always up for co-oping that game.
No, it's what you implied.
I clearly struck a nerve. Don't be so sensitive.

I was hoping for the story of Snake and Otacon against the world. I was hoping it would recapture the vibe of MGS2 particularly the first chapter. You know the dark blue atmosphere and suspense (also found in MGS1). Instead I got Johnny Sasaki getting married, bosses nobody gave a shit about (did they just copy/paste those backstories?), Arsenal Gear with a fucking Mnt Rushmore on its bow, inconsequential "war" between the two factions, the copout ending and all the rest of it.
[edit:] Don't get me wrong, it was still GOTY. But not by merits of its story. I just expected something completely different both in story and gameplay. And I don't think I was the only one.

I liked the game a lot despite being my least favorite of the series.MGS4 has Ray vs Rex.
MGS4 wins.

that and fighting Ocelot(despite the story ruining that fight) are some of my favorite moments in the series.
MGS Legacy Collection is coming out in a month. Try to hold off for that version if you can.
What if i tell you that I love MGS2-3-4 at the same way but find MGS1 awful?
At least say you mean Twin Snakes version?...What if i tell you that I love MGS2-3-4 at the same way but find MGS1 awful?
