If the DLC thing didn't happen, the game would have been fine. Everyone now forgets that before Crapcom/Cacpcom they were called Capgod.
was the new dante before or after sfxt? capgod lost a lot of goodwill after that and them cancelling megaman legends as well.

Miniscule fighting game related things that annoy the fuck out of me, part 1:

Why hasn't Spooky graduated from Impact yet? That's one of the ugliest fonts of all time. Right up there with Comic Sans and Papyrus.

EVO is in two weeks, and it's the second time I've been to an EVO. Only signing up for Injustice, though.

...thing is, I find it hard to want to practice right now, and this week will really the only time I have to practice. I've got a bunch of new games to play; Witcher 1 and 2 for PC, Project X Zone for my newly bought 3DS, and that Kyle Hyde sequel. I really should practice Injustice, just because I anticipate Grundy having a hard time at EVO, but..the allure of these games is hard to resist!

I guess if anything, I'm going to this EVO mainly to meet a lot of people and just play casually on a bunch of different games. That's how I wanted my first EVO to be, but...it didn't work that way. This year will be different, and I am super hyped~!

We should have held fast on "She wants the Zhi", I understand why we can't have nice things, though.

Is anyone here playing Injustice on PS3? Would you be willing to help a scrub improve his game a bit?

If the SFxT ship goes down ill go with it. It's in my top 3 fighting games of all time.

You'll not be alone my friend. This IS my favorite fg of all time. Cool characters and has all the fundamentals a fg need.

At least now people consider it a legit fighter, not a joke like it was last year

I don't want to say Capcom needs to get it's fighting games correct the first time on release, but they need them to be more correct than SFxT or MVC3 were on release. Rushing them out does so much more harm than short term good.

Launching MvC3 without spectator mode or any ping indicator for the match up screens was truly amazing. Such a functionally deficient online engine is quite remarkable.

CVS2 had a better online system. and that was their first online fighter. lol

Not just crap like that, but the glaring balance/match flow issues that would be obvious to anyone like time outs in SFxT and any number of things in MVC3.

You can notice a general trend in most fighting game releases on consoles with no arcade launch behind them.

I think somebody's comment that they found a giant pallet of the game while cleaning out a warehouse was spot on lol

Yeah, that's the most plausible reason for it.

But hey, if you have a PS3 import Gundam Extreme Vs. It's a very similar playing game. The platinum "Best" re-release version is only like 35 bucks. It was my GOTY 2011 and I put over 100 hours into it, easily. I highly recommend it to any Gotcha Force fan.

Niitsuma explained this by saying that MvC3 actually started before SFIV, and at the time the team didn't know these would become such huge and wanted features. It's dumb that it didn't have them, but I can sympathize with that.

I think they're biggest mistake was announcing/releasing UMVC3 so soon after MVC3. That annoyed tons of people. I understand that they released it that soon so that it wouldn't directly interfere with SFxT, but honestly they have been better off of they had delayed UMVC3 and not even announced it until after SFxT had released. That way people wouldn't have felt ripped off for buying MVC3 and having an expansion announced 4 months later.

You'll not be alone my friend.

The 2013 patch did fix a lot of the problems with the game. I can't shake the negative feelings I have towards the original unpatched release and the blatantly completed and on disc DLC though.
I still can't bring myself to buy the DLC characters out of principle.

I think a change in patching policies would do so much more for fighting games than releasing early on arcades.

SG and SCV turned out just fine without arcades. I don't think it is a coincidence that ASW is "watching" the Wii U petition for Guilty Gear and that they dropped the 360 version worldwide.

In retrospect, we would've paid out the butt for all that DLC if it was $5 per character and it would have slowly trickled, which would be pretty annoying for the tournament season. It looks bad on the surface, but honestly, I'll take an all at once option that's cheaper over the slow and painful trickle. I just want my full game. but I can see why people are mad. Balance patches over the next year and half with a UMVC3 release in like August 2012 might have been a better option.

Wasn't UMVC3 originally just DLC and a balance patch, which changed into an actual retail revision after the Tsunami?

Yeah, I believe capcom had stated that at one point.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm glad it was a disc release. In fact I greatly prefer that to gradual DLC, as the disc release was cheaper than the DLC would have been.

I just think they really shouldnt have announced UMVC3 so soon after the vanilla release. It really left a bad impression for most people. (IE: The idea that capcom was milking it as hard as possible, with no consideration for their customers)

I agree with you, an August 2012 release date for UMVC3 would've been much better.
I spent $60 on a beta version of MVC3

I had no idea anyone else within FGC-GAF had Gundam Extreme VS :O

My imported copy arrived last week and I'm having a complete blast with it.

SCV does have pretty heavy balancing issues. SG will work because the devs are interacting with the players in a way Japanese companies just don't. It's similar to the approach Sirlin took with HDR (where he invited top players over to test the builds weekly- and made some changes based on that, he mentioned that in his balance articles)

I want to get it but not really sure where to start w/ it

If by where to start you mean where to order it, I got mine from an importer from Amazon for about $40 with shipping so that was easy :P

If you mean where to start by actually diving into the game, the OT has a lot of details on how it works, controls, modes, etc. Though while they what appears to be a translated main menu screen, I don't know if that's just shopped for the thread or an option I just missed. So if you want more menu translations beyond those screenshots then use this Gamefaqs thread which has a list of the menus in english as well as how to insert your custom MP3's (which works like Tekken Tunes where you have to replace a song in the OST to use it, though it can be set back to default at any time you wish)

I got it like a month ago, crazy coincidence

If you have any reservations about getting the game, I was in the same boat but bought it cause it was $35 shipped on P-A. Then just playing a few of the trial missions was enough to convince me that it owned and worth my money

Haven't played online yet, though. Guessing I'd get bopped hard.

I've only played a few matches with a friend online, I haven't tried going online in randoms yet. Not sure how large the japanese audience for this game is on console though when the arcades have an enhanced version of the game (Full Boost) which isn't on PS3

I haven't been online in a minute, so I'm probably pretty rusty.
I suppose we could get some NGAF games going again by hitting up dudes in this thread

For those that had both before. Chipotle or Moes?

Moe's

Whats the difference between the ps3 version and the extreme (playstation the best) version?

Whats the difference between the ps3 version and the extreme (playstation the best) version?

It's just like a case of original Black Label vs Greatest Hits
Gundam+Extreme+VS+cover.jpg

Crap quality pic aside for the The Best version (not to mention that's the Asia rating version, though there are japanese rating versions of The Best as well), they're both Gundam Extreme VS with no content difference between the two. The Best is equal to Greatest Hits.

Think you're getting your SKUs crossed up; there's just one PS3 game titles Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs which is commonly abbreviated as GGEXVS. Within that there's
- regular release or "Playstation the best" budget rerelease
- Asia or Japan region

Generally speaking Asia is usually located in the same region as Japan for online/region-locking purposes and is usually cheaper to import from, so there's no reason not to go for the Asia version if possible. Basically just get this one

Damn that's a good deal. I paid a little over $40 with shipping for the Japanese version but $34 with free shipping for the Asia version is great for anyone on the fence
