I don't get the love for the anime, it's pretty trash from the few episodes I watched.
It's standard shounen with a rather unique hook. I think that's something a lot of people can get into, even if it isn't for everyone.

I still don't see how that means Steins;gate and Fate/Zero don't have the same exposure as K-On and SAO. Like what metric do you want to use? Japanese sales? They are both high, especially Fate/Zero. Popularity on anime communities like Myanimelist? They both have a lot of members discussing them. Western sales? Numbers are non-existent so we can't compare them.In terms of the mainstream casual fans that don't see much those series don't get much exposure. There is a lot of severely underrated anime like Baccano and Seirei No Moribito.
Between no plot and crappy generic "i'm gonna stand around and do nothing or power up for x episodes" plot, i'll take no plot with cute girls doing cute things all day.
Where are you guys getting these avatars done
It was just like a normal conversation and thenHahaha please don't remind me. I must have done like 5 double takes! Hahaha.
It's pretty dead but still. I would love a revival. To be honest I got into anime a little over a year ago and it saddens me to see it in such a state. I came in at a bad time :/ lolDoes it matter though? Anime is dead in America. There is no market. There are 'fandom' for sure, but it is niche as hell. Talking about mainstream fans and what not are just silly in my opinion.

I want a Popple one so bad

Have you watched Attack on Titan?

you know if he still does them, or takes requests? This amazing guy did them in the manga thread a while back.

I don't know, Toonami ratings are damn good now, and that doesn't even take into account the traffic all the official streaming sites like Crunchyroll are getting. I'd say it's pretty alive, even if it isn't as financially viable as it was in the 90s/early 2000s.

There is a lot of great sources now and great new anime. Believe me ive been doing plenty of manga reading and anime watching lately. Are you kidding me. There has been never a better time to watch anime. You can watch all the classics AND new stuffs from japan on the web. WITH TRANSLATION.
back in the day we had to wait someone else like ADV films to translate and give it to us via VHS, or have to fansub it ourselves. and that wasn't easy.
The irony is that strong fandom was what brought collapse of anime market in US. everyone was watching for free and there as no money to be made =P
No one is really standing around and doing nothing though. There is nothing bad about what is going on now it is just taking too long. The past 3 episodes couldve been 1 or 2.Have you ? The last 4 or so episodes has been nothing but people standing around doing jack shit, without advancing the plot, just characters standing around staring at nothing and speaking non sense. And with all the stills, they might as well have kept it as a manga.
That's not what was being sold to me when people were hyping Attack on Titan.

I just hate all the hatedom anime gets nowadays. It's ridiculous.
I wish Networks would give Anime a chance. Imagine with that cool Fox promo guys voice"Fox Monday Death Note and The Following. Mystery Mondays Only On Fox" *Sigh* One could dream.

That is why I hate the mainstream anime crowd. They give the rest of the fan base and anime as a whole a bad name. I'm never going to understand how crap like Sword Art Online and K On get so popular while amazing worthwhile series like Steins;Gate and Fate/Zero stay behind the scenes. That helps reinforce anime stereotypes.
Do what I do.
I don't give a flying fuck about who hates what. I like what I'm seeing. If you don't, more power to you.
That would be amazing. More than just Toonami, super legit channels like that. Alas it is a pipe dream.I wish Networks would give Anime a chance. Imagine with that cool Fox promo guys voice" Fox Monday Death Note and The Following. Mystery Mondays Only On Fox" *Sigh* One could dream.
Im talking about America. I don't pay enough attention to Japanese sales. That doesn't make much sense. Steins;Gate and Fate/Zero are mainstream as well. Hell, Fate/Zero sold more than SAO did.
I'd love an actual Attack on Titan game. Like Spiderman x Shadow of the Colossus, with the visuals of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series.

Wow, I've never seen so much hatred for this show. I enjoy it a lot, one of my favorites this season. A game base around it could be cool.
Toonami says "Hi"
Anime isn't even mainstream in its home country. It's not going to hit prime time here.
The most you can hope for are popular adaptations, like the upcoming (lol) Monster one on HBO.
Read the manga, no pacing issues there.I hate it even more because it started out amazing but the last 3 or 4 episodes have been utter *shit*
That's a whole month of me eagerly waiting week by week to see some spiderman/swordplay only to get 5 minutes of flashback, 14 minutes of bullshit exposition and 1 minute of action.
Indefensible. The last 4 episodes are utterly indefensible.

The part which makes your post ironic is that S;G is something which contains a great number of otaku references which most people won't get unless they have watched a lot of anime beforehand.

Not as much as the anime.yes there are.
This sums up my thoughts on it. Though I've read the manga, I find that the aforementioned still applies. The premise is interesting enough but once you go beyond that, even calling it popcorn entertainment would be an insult to real popcorn entertainment. What's wrong with it? Anime is fine. Surely higher standard than anything I've seen in this season so far, except yondemasuyo azazel san Z.
now THAT's the anime that should be made into a game.
Game looks shitty btw.
"Amazing anime"... really? Are standards that low?

Not when you watch the dub.
I mean, I personally like it. People's heads are a little too big for their bodies in the beginning, but thankfully that's not the case anymore. I don't know if what you consider "good" would be the same as what I would though. I like the rough "scratchy" style the artist has. I think it adds to the setting and to the action scenes. Obviously the anime has the advantage in action scenes because it's, well, animated, but I find the art style a bit too sterile in comparison. However, not neccesariky ugly. I just prefer the manga's look. But then again, if I had to recommend something based solely on it's art, then Attack on Titan would probably not even come up. The real attraction to the work of course is the setting, characters, plot, etc.does it get better? only checked out the first two volumes and they're hard on the eyes.
What is "amazing anime" now? I haven't watch any over the past 5 years."Amazing anime"... really? Are standards that low?

I never saw the dub. But I'll take your word for it, I guess?

I stopped reading when you said the animation is bad. That's honestly the dumbest thing I've read all day.Holy shit that anime is bad. Awful animation, asinine story, typical cookie cutter characters, just awful. I only watched it because people saying it was amazing in this thread.
Seriously, that game in the OP is probably better than what I just watched.
Would you still hate it if all the episodes had been released already?

Is it cool to hate on AoT now? I think it's pretty interesting so far.
