Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

muramasa is just what i was looking for - snappy, fun, satisfyig combat; good graphics; no need for audio (especially since they didn't even dub the voices)

perfect to play while watching tv

Sony just released a Video that covers the indie love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob-sas7NZK8

I hope they don't forget the bigger titles...

some comments from that youtube page

some of these games are good, but how about some actual real games that playstation is known for in experience"

"felipe obregon 9 minutes ago
Bad games"

I hate how sony states playstation vita as the "home for indie games".......I mean seriously with the vita's capabilities, they are giving us some mediocer games, sure they are fun to play every once in a while, but I sure as hell didn't buy a vita for these! I bought a Playstation Vita for big, action-packed, high-graphic, theatrical GAMES! and I'm sorry sony but so far, Killzone Mercenary is the only one I see coming and that's just not enough for something I paid $250 for (plus the mem card)"

" diztruction 26 minutes ago
honestly this thing has awesome gaming power but they are putting more indie games than real top quality ones the fuck"

"jeffrey1296 30 minutes ago
Nothing good. Just simple i0hone games"

" Antonio Brown 27 minutes ago
developers are not taking full advantage of the Vita's power."

"Bruno Salazar 45 minutes ago
i buy a vita for AAA titles not for fucking indies!!"

so yeah, no one care about indie games.

Tell me more. Never heard of if. And GDC? Isn't that not until March?

Edit: oh GDC Europe. Okay.

all i can find..... but it has me excited and looking forward to something more.

In a special reveal session, Ubisoft Montreal creative director Patrick Plourde (lead design on two Assassin's Creed titles and creative director on Far Cry 3), will speak about making 'Small Projects in AAA Studios' by showcasing a new game, Child Of Light.

As the talk description explains, "After working for many years on some of the biggest productions in the triple-A game industry, Patrick challenged himself to create a game that would be the opposite: a small team, a small budget, and an intimate scope. The result was a game called Child of Light."

This lecture covers the personal challenges of moving from large productions to intimate games, and the unique challenges and opportunities of producing a small title within the walls of Ubisoft Montreal.

so yeah, no one care about indie games.

Or more to the point, people who comment on Youtube don't care about indie games. I care about both. Actually one of the bigger reasons I ended up buying a Vita was because of The Binding of Isaac getting released on it.

People in YouTube comments being idiots? What a surprise...

Honestly man, it being a smaller title doesn't give me much hope of it being on Vita. I'd expect a downloadable PS3/4/XBLA game or, if worst comes to worst, an iOS/Android game.

really? i'm expecting atleast a PSN title. maybe not vita exclusive but on vita none-the-less.

To be fair, it's getting frustrating with all of these indie news for Vita while we almost get nothing for retail. It would have been alright if focus seemed to be equally shared.

I just think because it's Playstation channel on youtube, and the video itself was just posted two hours ago, these guys are most likely subscribers and Playstation fans, so they are not just the casuals youtubers but PlayStation faithfuls, and it was very interesting for me to read their opinions on the indie games (I don't follow PS blog so I don't know the reaction toward indie games there)

You can't really apply logic like that to YouTube commenters. Definitely not a reliable way to gauge interest.

Guys... I'm only playing the demo of Farming Simulator and I'm losing my MIND over how addicting it is. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REAL DEAL IN THE USA!!!

Seriously, just so addicting.

But I think them commenters are right.
Not many people buy a Vita for indie games that are already on other platforms.
People buy Vitas for games like Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, GravityRush, AssassinsCreed, COD, SoulSacrifice, Killzone and Tearaway.
Indies are just a nice little addition.

And right now it looks like whats supposed to be the nice little addition becomes the many attraction.

The last big exclusive announcement for the Vita was nearly a year ago...(Tearaway)

Yes, I'm getting ready to play this right now! I loved the Giant Bomb quick look of the PC version, so awesome to have it on the Vita!

It's Totobeni, he's capable of creating logic in anything as long as it supports his tired old arguments.

I know, I usually just ignore him, but that just irked me. =/

Deeecent showing. Bit sad that they decided to pad the video with footage of Vita launch titles rather than show some actual indie games from PlayStation Mobile or something. Also not sure how Limbo - a game which at one point was published by Microsoft and has gotten physical disc releases on PC and 360 - is considered 'indie' at this stage.

Behind the anti-indie sentiment from some of the commenters on that YT video is a valid complaint that the Vita could use more mainstream AAA games. To take it out on indie games though is idiotic. Imagine if indie devs shunned the Vita--no Hotline Miami, no Terraria, no Lone Survivor? No thanks. I'm glad they're around.

let hope gamescom bring some good retail games for the system.

Yup.it's like main and side dishes, you can't have the salad or desert as the main dish.

nothing against indie games-or the idea of having indie games- there are good stuff among them, but on Vita, sadly Sony act as if it's an indie-only platform and apparently (going with these youtube comments and many people here in gaf) many are upset about this, there should be a variety between the the small indie games and the bigger games on any system, a healthy system need to have the big and small games.

My Vita just froze trying to download a large game, and when I restarted it there seems to be 2GB less space on the memory card. Has anyone run into this?

This is probably the wrong thread, but I wasn't sure where else to go.

Cool, didn't realize there was a no-questioned-asked 15 day free trial of PS+ in Japan.

A lot of redundant games on offer (Rayman, which I'd rather play the ENG version, Ninja Gaiden Sigma+, and a couple of visual novels) but there is a lot of PSP games and a Robot fighting game that looks playable. And supposedly like 150 free PS1 classics?
Just to confirm, there is no way to download these on a Japan account and play them with my NA account, right?

The design is not as good as the vita one, but as i said it's smaller, lighter and it has a really clean screen(the vita's one instead...), it looked like a cute new born vita :3

Awww... This makes me feel warm and fuzzy! It is like a like a waddle Vita baby. =3

It is the right thread.(is there even any other Vita thread?)

I think when Vita start downloading something it reserve the space needed for that game or app on the memory card.

so try to resume your download or resume then delete it.

I would, but the download disappeared from the list and now it won't let me download it again because I don't have enough space. =(

awesome montage...but i do agree that retail releases need equal love. Gravity Rush 2, another Persona, some top-down GTA titles, Some HD collection ports like DMC/GTA. Isn't Vita at 5 million now, should be worth it to at least port over some stuff that's already done and I would think someone wants to be the first true Killer app for Vita. I would count Persona but its still a port.

I don't get why no one wants to try and hit gold on Vita, there have been small success stories, and Japan is loving handheld gaming, dunno why Sony isn't announcing a bunch of RPG's for the console right now, but I guess games do take time.

your gonna want to wash that failed download out, just scrub your vita in some soapy warm water, then go down to the store and buy a new vita + memorey card for $350 and ill think youll find you'll have all your space back.;)

EDIT if all that fails you may have to format your memory card and redownload everything.

Perhaps you could hard-reset your Vita and check the memory card space again. Or you could go to the Settings and check if you can delete the additional data downloaded for the game.

Judging by some Twitter back-and-forth between people and Abstraction Games (guys who ported Hotline Miami to Vita), they're already working on porting other stuff. Someone said they should port Doom to Vita and they responded:

Ralph Egas ‏@AbstractionGame 4h
@KevinClough @idSoftware @ID_AA_Carmack Consider the nature of your request I can see you're in for a real treat later this year Kevin! ;)

They later did also imply it might not actually be Doom though, lol. Has there been any recent-ish indie games similar to Doom?

Played about an hour of Muramasa Rebirth. Fantastic art style and very enjoyable combat. I'm playing on hard mode (Chaos) and the battles are tense and challenging (it's possible to beat weaker enemies by button mashing but there are XP bonuses for playing skillfully and healing items are somewhat scarce). Really loving this game so far.

Downloading VLR now, strongly thinking about HM as well, love it on my PC.

Also, there was some game I was interested in but I never did catch the title (and now I can't remember the gameplay). It must have come out a few weeks ago... Anyone have a nice source of Vita game videos I can watch to try to jog my memory :(

Try looking through posts on the PS Blog?

Pretty sure its Shadow Warrior

Just started VLR. It's good to finally be back playing Vita games! I've been using it mainly for wake up club and the occasional brief play of P4G or a PS+ game, but now I decided to play it more via VLR.

I wish DJ Max allowed for the shoulder buttons or dpad to activate fever. Only gripe so far. Otherwise game is my kind of rhythm game and dig a lot of the music.
