George Zimmerman (killer of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin) found not guilty

Why isn't the defense objecting to all of these statements from Martin as hearsay?

Edit: spontaneous statement exception under FL law.

Not sure if you guys know how it works here, but he's innocent until proven guilty.

Again, labeling him "killer" gives preconceived notions about his character. End of story.

Killing is not a synonym for murder. Not sure if you know how it works here.

You have a piss-poor grasp of the English language. End of story.

I know they mentioned she grew up with a Haitian family, but did they also state she was a first or second generation immigrant? Its so tough to do something like this if you don't have the same proficiency with English that the rest of us take for granted. Too often people interpret difficulties in communicating as a slight against their intelligence or credibility. Testifying is an incredibly high stress and difficult experience already.

Murder isn't even an illegal killing depending on circumstance thanks to justifiable homicide.

"justifiable homicide" is a killing not deemed illegal, and is thus not "murder".

And homicide means "the killing of another human", not " the murder of another human".

There's a difference.

Her accent kinda sounds like an NO accent.

How was that explanation biased? Have you even read up on the case?

Have you?

Surrrre. If I say "so and so is a killer" I'm sure your first thought of them is as an upstanding citizen that must have killed as last resort in an act of self defense.

Zimmerman killing as a last resort in an act of self-defense has not been established. Do you even understand what's going on here? Are you Robert Zimmerman?

Quit trying to pretend if you knew absolutely zero about this case and I told you nothing but "Zimmerman is on trial in Florida for shooting and killing an unarmed teen" your first thought wouldn't automatically be "Zimmerman is guilty of murder".

If someone misinterprets the thread title and doesn't know the difference between killing and murder, that's their own problem, not a problem with the thread title. It's very straightforward, no spin or anything. And no, saying "killer" isn't spin. This is a case centered upon a killing, of course the thread title is going to say it. It's an apt description.

EXACTLY, NOR IS IT ESTABLISHED THAT HE MURDERED MARTIN.

So why are completely ignoring my point and acting like the label "killer" doesn't bode well for someone's character?

Guys guys, "serial-killer" isn't synonymous with "murderer".

Because, unlike you, I understand that killer and murderer are not synonyms, particularly when you're discussing a trial. Why this is so difficult for you to grasp eludes me.

What is he then a wizard? How did Trayvon end up dead? Oh right he was killed. Hurp.

I see your point, but just let it go. It's derailing this thread, and it makes every single person who disagrees with you want to reply, and then you reply to each of them. Then, everyone who disagrees with each reply you make then replies to those... it's like exponentially derailing the thread.

Everyone's points are noted. Now let's move on. Guys, stop replying to him. Dude, stop replying to them.

can someone give a summary of her statements?

If I got it right, she described being on the phone with Martin, who said someone ("creepy ass cracker") was following him, she told him to run, he said he was almost home, then he said someone was behind him, she heard someone breathing heavily say "What are you doing here?", then a bump and the sounds of wet grass, then someone shouting "Get off me!" She said the person yelling that was Trayvon. The phone disconnected, she tried to call back but no answer.

Cross about to start.

dude, you're way too emotional invested in this.

And no, serial killer isnt synonymous with murderer, its a completely different connotation.

And yes he is a killer, that doesnt mean he is guilty though.

Media is going to go nuts on the creepy-ass c***** comment. I got banned on GAF for calling white people c*****s once, so I'm playing it safe. lol

EDIT: No wait, I said 'h*****' lol!

can someone give a summary of her statements?

According to her:

Martin said that a "creepy as cracker" was looking at him and watching him. She joked with Martin that perhaps the watcher was a "rapist". Martin told her not to joke around like that. Martin said that he wanted to "lose" the guy, and so he started walking away. He said that the "nigga" then began following him. She told Martin to run, but Martin said that he didn't need to run, because he could just walk quickly back to the place he was staying. After some period of time, Martin told her that he was alone and that he was just about back at the place he was staying. Then, suddenly, Martin said "oh shit" and reported that the guy (the watcher) was right behind him (Martin). She then heard an out-of-breath voice (not Martin's) say something along the lines of "What are you doing around here?" She called out to Martin with things like "What's going on? What's happening?" but Martin did not respond. Then she heard a bump noise on the headset. She heard rustling and what sounded to her like grass up against the speaker. She heard Martin say "Get off", and then the phone disconnected. She tried to call back, but Martin didn't answer.

I've left out some tiny details, but that's the barebones version. Excuse my language.
