2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

Trying the new gaussian bloom in Boulotaur's SweetFX injector. I've toned it down a bit but its pretty nice looking.

Those Borderlands 2 shots look really good. Made me actually try the new DLC.

Could you copy paste your sweetFX settings somewhere? I'm trying to edit the settings myself but can't get it right.
I will when I get home from work. I'll even post some comparisons so you can see whether or not you actually like the changes :P A lot of the "niceness" from the screens come from downsampling the balls out of the game + 8xSGSSAA.
Appreciated!

Its so frustrating to get skyrim to such a beautiful, and playable look (damn at that IQ at 60fps sethos), but then be stuck playing... skyrim. Even with a great deal of gameplay mods that are pretty well done and promising, its a game that really has a time limit (to me).

I hate that I played it on PS3 when it came out... coulda had a beautiful experience.

I want SkychivsoulZ.

As far as Skyrim goes, I think I'll sit this one out... My game works fine, and is fully modded, but I'm waiting for some more mods so I can reinstall and blast it apart again.

I have issues... I enjoy reinstalling Skyrim... Fuck science.

gave that grass mod a try with K-enb .

No other mods installed

looks nice.

This is weirding me out, because those totally look JPEG'd up but I'm seeing PNG extension ahhhh!! Maybe it's just the fog + the lack of AA.

You should drop a fat dollop of AA on those and I bet it would come out way prettier.

Your shots are some of the best of Skyrim I've seen in months (I prefer environmental shots as a style, which should be obvious from my own posts), but he has a point.

People are too quick to shoot their load over Skyrim shots, sometimes it's downright baffling. Everyone jerking each other off over the mod selection and ENB choice, blah blah blah. Sometimes it seems like it's the only game people give a shit about.

I'm not saying it's wrong or whatever, or that people don't have a right to exclaim when something impresses them (doing so would be hypocritical after my first sentence), but I'm just saying that I think there's some kind of unfair bias towards Skyrim or something. I do understand that a lot of work goes into getting that game to look the way you want it, but I just think that people are too quick to drool over Skyrim screenshots, in general. Just a harmless observation.

I sort of see what you're getting at but I mean, honestly, a lot of Skyrim shots ARE pretty nice.

I think it's that with the mods available for the game, it's not too tough to make it look good. As a result, you get a lot of good looking shots and after a certain time, you just sort of see that as the norm.

A lot of the times when people are going crazy over Skyrim it's because the shot DOES actually look great when you compare it to most other games! But then you see all the other Skyrim shots and it just blends right on.

I think it's just that the more shots you see of the game, the less impressive each subsequent one becomes.

Yeah. The last time I thought "I'll replay Skyrim all the way through, only this time with crazy graphics mods" I ended up loading up an old character after a while so I could teleport around and just take screenshots. The game was exciting during the first playthrough. Starting out with nothing. Having to explore to find items\money\better gear. Every place is new.

But after that, you're only left with the gameplay as all that previous excitement is gone. And it just doesn't hold up.

Still, something about the game is fun to mod up and just screw around in for a while. It's just intimidating going in with a fresh install... knowing it takes about 120 mods until I'm happy.

So uh.... here's a screenshot.

Yeeeaaaaahhhh.

And the moon fits perfectly. That's a nice shot.

Here's a TR shot I'm not satisfied with the levels, and the white Vignette makes it hard to fix, so have it raw.

And here's a Remember Me shot that I like. Not too much, but enough to not delete it.

Not sure what's happened with the damage for head shots though, every head shot that kills seems to made it explode like a high velocity round is being fired from the bow.

If you look closely, I think you'll find he has a very startled expression on his face.

I think it was the shot to the knee that did it.

Haha thanks! It does look significantly better. It is more kosher with the canted horizon line too.

Next year, This and the Bullshot thread are going to look like borderline Photography...

Anyone else excited?

I am so goddam pumped. I hope the fancier stuff doesn't become more inaccessible though, as seems to be the case in a few recent games.

Also I very very very much want to screenshot The Division.

I've been too preoccupied playing this brilliant game to properly screen anything (and the screens I've seen before are now more impressive). But, I thought this was cool:

What an amazing game. I'm actually glad I've waited so long to play it.

This page has some pretty great shots. Those Borderlands 2 shots are insane. It's a joy to see how you keep improving and improving yourself, neoenigma.

Boris V. is keeping at it with the Fallout ENB updates. I'm not complaining:

Vanilla GTA4 shots are so refreshing.
Indeed they are!
DAMN, as someone who only played GTA IV on the PS3, my mind was blown away by those vanilla shots.
Yup, I played it on 360. This page is the first time I've seen high-resolution PC screenshots of vGTA 4 in forever.

Thanks guys! I played through both PS3 and 360 versions as well, it's indeed a different world. Playing through it (again...) atm, downsampled from 1620p and with SMAA injector. I kept getting back to Vanilla after trying various ENBs, the original art direction is still my favorite. Also locked it at 30fps to avoid the usual framerate fluctuations. One of the few PC games I can forgive this.

Some more shots:

I like it.

Did you try to mess around with Ugrids yet ?

Might help for those trees in the distance.
I'm reluctant to. I now have a configuration that looks nice, runs well enough (45+ FPS) and is very stable with 50+ mods. That takes a while, and I heard that higher ugrids settings are prone to result in instability. On the other hand, the pop-in and LoD are easily the worst remaining graphical issue in the game, so I might as well try it.

Hopefully not dickish on my part, I had to rise to the challenge as well! Its a great shot. Here's what I got:

also yay sta.sh!

Hmm...

How'd you manage that? I mean the blacks are kind of crushed, but the image is pretty balanced...

I toyed with the settings for like 10 minutes and it always came out unbalanced...

This last shot marks the end of my Tomb Raider Screenshots for now. I've switched to the newest Beta drivers from Nvidia and they cause the Blurry hair glitch at 4K. I switched back last time to finish the game, but honestly, the hair can be so funky with the framerate at that resolution. Sometimes it will be fine, others it dips to 3 when you zoom in... I love the game to death, and will screenshot it again, but likely not until Nvidia gets their collective head out of their ass and releases stable and bug-free drivers... Gonna have to screenshot something else..

daaaaaaaaayum why you not bullshot artist.

haha :P

It was a new black vignette on top first, which I combined with the image layer for quickness (and now think that is too dark on the left side), to counteract the white vignette.

Then levels, then curves, then color balance.

Then one slightly fancy thing, in which I made a second color balance layer, but erased all of its effect save for the area around the flame, to spice it up a bit.

In actuality the image you posted was very similar to how film footage comes out of quality cameras before color grading, though sans the 10 or 16 bit color range. I wish so much that SFX could be developed into a gui, and you could make presets by effecting an existing raw screenshot.

I would recommend not going higher then 7 as higher it can cause bloat and a broken game .

Also make sure you make a different save file as trying to returning ugrids back to normal can break the save file also .

Edit : and i opened up another page ... awkward.... .
